Week 1
Weather: Clear skies all week!
- Arrival
At 9AM Monday morning, Tom Nook will take his place at the microphone once more. He has several bins in front of him that are filled with tools. Shovels, fishing rods, bug nets, watering cans, and axes. They look...well. Functional, but flimsy. Next to the tool bins are foldable carts that you can wheel around, presumably for the tools, and some Nook Inc. knapsacks. And now that the sun is out, you can see all of the red, yellow, and white cosmos growing about the island alongside all of the weeds.
Now. Whether you’re around or not, he’s going to start his announcements when a sizable group is present.
“Good morning, everyone! Now, I know yesterday was quite a rough start for all of us, but while we’re here, let’s make the most of our stay, hm? We have a few things to go over today.” He gives everyone his best smile (though he isn’t expecting much in return) and continues: “I know a lot of you must be hungry; overnight, we had another plane fly over seasoning, milk, eggs, and vegetables for us! Soon, we’ll have more ingredients; for now, if you need anything, the food we have on-hand can be found inside of the fridge in my tent.”
Well, that’s one thing taken care of, at least. It’s not much, but it’s better than nothing.
“Next, the tools! These are what you have to start with, and, well, they aren’t exactly the most durable...but they will last for a little while. I estimate 20 uses each -- but when they break, never fear, for we have DIY Recipe cards for you to use in order to craft these tools again! I’ve included the DIY cards for your tools inside of your knapsacks; they give you the ingredients necessary to craft different things. You’re free to use the workbench in my tent to craft your new tools after they break. My best advice is to lay the materials out in the general formation of what you’re crafting and let the workbench do the rest.”
If you reach inside of your knapsack, you’ll find the cards in there...along with a cellular device of some sort. “Ah, yes,” Tom Nook says, “those are your Nook Phones. So far, you’re only able to send mass texts to everyone and receive text and call alerts from myself. Feel free to play around with those as much as you’d like, they’re solar-powered; just try not to break them, yes?”
And then, finally… “Lastly, I would like to talk about currency. I’ll provide you our currency -- bells -- and I will buy anything from you! Weeds, fish, bugs...anything! I have an ATM set up in my tent for you to easily deposit and withdraw your bells if you wish, yes, yes. If you’re wondering what you’ll be using those for...we’ll be having some special features for you starting next week! … If we can’t send you back home by then, that is.”
He looks nervous at that last part, but doesn’t mention anything beyond that regarding your situation. Tom Nook smiles at you and closes out the announcements; you now have several things you can do this week.
Possible Objectives
1. Gather natural resources to sell to Tom Nook and make some money! Bugs and fish list can be found here.
2. Use those resources to craft a variety of different things -- DIY Recipes will speed things up and make them more refined, but you're free to do your own variant of crafting, too!
3. Do some other exploration; the island section of the setting provides you with possible ways to get more resources (bottles, x-marks, balloons, etc.). Shaking trees and hitting rocks are also ways to get special items as well! If you are going to do these methods of exploration, please write “MODS” in your subject header and ping us on Plurk or Discord so we can reward you appropriately! All we ask is that you try not to go too overboard with this method of exploration (ten times a week per person, as an exaggerated example); use your best judgment!
As far as resource gathering + currency goes, we won't be keeping track of those so feel free to handwave as much as you'd like; as long as it's within reason (i.e. a character getting 1 million bells by the end of this week is...a little extreme).
Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday / Friday
(OOC: Welcome to your Week 1 Log! We apologize for the info dump; Mod Coco who plays Tom Nook has work and will not be able to NPC throughout the week, so we wanted to get the information to you folks as soon as possible. That being said, our OOC Questions top level is available for you to use!
And last but not least, we have a Weekly Plotting Post for you all to use. We aren't sure how these will shake out, but we thought we should give them a try anyway.
As always, if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to let us know! Have fun!)

If anyone has the materials, I have a couple of recipes as well. Mini DIY Workbench seems very useful that way we don't have to keep bothering Tom Nook for the DIY table in this own tent.

You can find him in one of several places:
1. Face down in the plaza.
A BODY HAS BEEN DISCOVERED2. Curled up on one of the flat rocks along the beach. Occasionally, his tail twitches.
3. In YOUR tent! Because he hasn't bothered to figure out which one he's actually supposed to use.
Also, he's snoring.]

So Byleth's just going to... stick around and keep an eye on Kevin for a while. And drape her jacket over him as a makeshift blanket while he's napping.
She does eventually wander out, but when she returns, it's with fish that have been skewered on sticks and cooked over a fire. She's eating some, but she has extra just in case he wakes up...]

mods a boulder is dying
[With practice and effort, Zeke has taken an unfortunate discovery and turned it into pure profit! For you see, he's developed an ultimate fishing technique: dipping his shoebill tail into the water and waiting for fish to take an inordinate interest in biting his feathered butt.]
[This is not without cost, as every time brings with it a wince of pain, but once again he yanks another fish free of the water. The only flaw in his process is how he's struggling to get them off afterwards -- a partner would sure speed things up!]
B
BRINGER OF CHAOS! ULTIMATE LIGHTNING FURY --
[Whirling his shovel in a circle above his head, Zeke spins it up to speed before leaping into the air, sunlight lens-flaring off the very tip before he brings it down in an arc towards the nearby boulder.]
SMAAAAAAAAAAAAASH!
[The shovel... cracks the boulder. That seems like a pretty pathetic outcome, but Zeke doesn't seem to mind, and as he lands on top of the boulder he starts kicking the halves apart with gusto and extra whacks of the shovel.]
Ha! This isn't a bad life at all.

EMPORIO - ALL WEEK!!
H-FF!
[Catching and Almost Catching bugs didn't seem like the first idea most would have, but Emporio can't help but feel like there's a good reason it's there so he can be spotted at various times of the day, all week, swinging that net of his around rather often.
And honestly, he thinks he's doing quite well with...whatever that reason for bug nets is. He's not entirely sure, but well...he did say he'd buy anything, and maybe there's good reason TO buy these. Emporio almost shows off what is definitely a rather lovely flying insect of some kind. It's hard to tell if he meant to display it this way, or if he's just sort of holding it. Regardless.] There's an awful lot of different bugs out here...
...I wonder what 'special features' we're supposed to end up using those bells for though...
[...Well, it's sort of fun at least. And honestly, he's never really had the time to just. Have that kind of fun so.]

MODS
[So. The mail box was just bursting when Lio woke up and after making sure none of it was for Ashe or Jude, he opened all of the...twenty-one packages and letters he somehow got?
Needless to say it looks like a yard sale is happening outside tent three right now, the scattered goods just all over the place. He spends a good part of the morning sorting out "things that are useful" (the DIY recipes, the clothes) and "things that I have no idea what they're for" (everything else not the litter box) and "what the hell" (the litter box).]
Time to Gather??
[After sorting all of that and getting it squared away somewhere, he figures he might as well start trying to get stuff to make stuff? So he's going to be chopping wood and beating rocks half to death with a shovel since apparently there's no pickaxes on this island.]

PARTY MINGLE
Iori mentioned on the network yesterday that she wanted to do a small get-together on Tuesday, which is, well... today! And while it might be easier for people to find out about it through text, in the wee hours of the morning, you might find Iori at the bulletin board, putting up a handwritten announcement with the paper they've gotten that says the following, in cutesy font:]
We still don't know each other very well, so let's fix that with a small bonfire and some fun! At 6 PM today - meet up at the beach for some food, games, and share stories. You don't want to miss this~! ♥
Don't feel obligated to come if you don't want to, though!!
[Of course, the note itself is anonymous even if it might be obvious to some people who the exact culprit is. Even more so given that the closer it gets to 6, the more that Iori actually goes out of her way to find everyone and invites them personally to come to the beach in about an hour or so. She won't drag anyone over - instead, just politely saying that "it's okay if you don't wanna come, but I'll be waiting!" before leaving.
There's going to be a small bonfire set up carefully there so if you guys want to fry your fish, apples, vegetables or eggs, that can totally be a thing that happens!
So go on, be free, and just talk to each other...!]
( OOC: Long story short - party mingle at late night Tuesday; there's also going to be subheaders for storytelling and two truths and a lie, but feel free to make your own toplevels under the general part of the party or either of the two subheaders! And as always, feel free to backlog anything! )
STORYTELLING
Usually, around a campfire - you'd tell a bunch of scary stories... but since I don't think everyone likes or knows that kind of thing, feel free to share any story you've got!
[Basically, go ahead share stories, react to stories, etc.]

TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE
Let's play a game - specifically, two truths and a lie. It's a pretty easy one, don't worry. Basically, you say three statements. Two of them are true, and one isn't. I'll even go first as an example:
1. I'm a club president!
2. I had five fathers.
3. I used to have a boyfriend, but we broke up back in February.
And now all you have to do is figure out which of those is the lie! Oh, and feel free to come up with your own statements as well, too and have people figure out which one is the lie!
