Week 1
Weather: Clear skies all week!
- Arrival
At 9AM Monday morning, Tom Nook will take his place at the microphone once more. He has several bins in front of him that are filled with tools. Shovels, fishing rods, bug nets, watering cans, and axes. They look...well. Functional, but flimsy. Next to the tool bins are foldable carts that you can wheel around, presumably for the tools, and some Nook Inc. knapsacks. And now that the sun is out, you can see all of the red, yellow, and white cosmos growing about the island alongside all of the weeds.
Now. Whether you’re around or not, he’s going to start his announcements when a sizable group is present.
“Good morning, everyone! Now, I know yesterday was quite a rough start for all of us, but while we’re here, let’s make the most of our stay, hm? We have a few things to go over today.” He gives everyone his best smile (though he isn’t expecting much in return) and continues: “I know a lot of you must be hungry; overnight, we had another plane fly over seasoning, milk, eggs, and vegetables for us! Soon, we’ll have more ingredients; for now, if you need anything, the food we have on-hand can be found inside of the fridge in my tent.”
Well, that’s one thing taken care of, at least. It’s not much, but it’s better than nothing.
“Next, the tools! These are what you have to start with, and, well, they aren’t exactly the most durable...but they will last for a little while. I estimate 20 uses each -- but when they break, never fear, for we have DIY Recipe cards for you to use in order to craft these tools again! I’ve included the DIY cards for your tools inside of your knapsacks; they give you the ingredients necessary to craft different things. You’re free to use the workbench in my tent to craft your new tools after they break. My best advice is to lay the materials out in the general formation of what you’re crafting and let the workbench do the rest.”
If you reach inside of your knapsack, you’ll find the cards in there...along with a cellular device of some sort. “Ah, yes,” Tom Nook says, “those are your Nook Phones. So far, you’re only able to send mass texts to everyone and receive text and call alerts from myself. Feel free to play around with those as much as you’d like, they’re solar-powered; just try not to break them, yes?”
And then, finally… “Lastly, I would like to talk about currency. I’ll provide you our currency -- bells -- and I will buy anything from you! Weeds, fish, bugs...anything! I have an ATM set up in my tent for you to easily deposit and withdraw your bells if you wish, yes, yes. If you’re wondering what you’ll be using those for...we’ll be having some special features for you starting next week! … If we can’t send you back home by then, that is.”
He looks nervous at that last part, but doesn’t mention anything beyond that regarding your situation. Tom Nook smiles at you and closes out the announcements; you now have several things you can do this week.
Possible Objectives
1. Gather natural resources to sell to Tom Nook and make some money! Bugs and fish list can be found here.
2. Use those resources to craft a variety of different things -- DIY Recipes will speed things up and make them more refined, but you're free to do your own variant of crafting, too!
3. Do some other exploration; the island section of the setting provides you with possible ways to get more resources (bottles, x-marks, balloons, etc.). Shaking trees and hitting rocks are also ways to get special items as well! If you are going to do these methods of exploration, please write “MODS” in your subject header and ping us on Plurk or Discord so we can reward you appropriately! All we ask is that you try not to go too overboard with this method of exploration (ten times a week per person, as an exaggerated example); use your best judgment!
As far as resource gathering + currency goes, we won't be keeping track of those so feel free to handwave as much as you'd like; as long as it's within reason (i.e. a character getting 1 million bells by the end of this week is...a little extreme).
Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday / Friday
(OOC: Welcome to your Week 1 Log! We apologize for the info dump; Mod Coco who plays Tom Nook has work and will not be able to NPC throughout the week, so we wanted to get the information to you folks as soon as possible. That being said, our OOC Questions top level is available for you to use!
And last but not least, we have a Weekly Plotting Post for you all to use. We aren't sure how these will shake out, but we thought we should give them a try anyway.
As always, if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to let us know! Have fun!)

So, while he can be found mining for a bit, he looks pretty tired and the dark circles are even more apparent now. Is this man even sleeping? Probably not. But he seems kinda use to it.
Otherwise, he can be found near tent two which people there should know that Dokja has been staying there both Monday night and Tuesday night instead of his actual tent assignment tent 11. He might do some more fishing as well later on but can be found trying to figure out what to do with the... squid he caught on Tuesday. ]

It's just the two of them and wow the glare is intense. ]
Kim Dokja.
no subject
[ Oh, he saw the disapproval. And the intense glare. But instead he'll hold up his bundle of gold nuggets and clay. There's also the container strapped to an arm where a.. squid? resides in. His tail sways just a little. Only a little, cause he knows Joonghyuk is mad with him. ]
no subject
That's some good loot, though. Squid would make a tasty dish—no, that isn't the point. Joonghyuk is focused. ]
You haven't been sleeping.
[ Again. ]
no subject
It also means he's just gonna go inch closer and make his way around and into the tent with a quick anxious flick of his tail. ]
I've been sleeping a little. [ It's true, he isn't lying. It's just.. between the past two days maybe two hours? Something like that. He sets his bundle beneath the cot he's been using. The squid also gets set aside as it stares back at him. He knows if he looks back now Joonghyuk is going to be right there. ] You don't have Lie Detection but I am telling the truth.
no subject
Can you at least look less nervous. Ears pinning back, he might as well relent a bit. ]
... I'm not going to hurt you today.
[ Despite threatening him quite a number of times over the NookPhone. ]
no subject
Who knew vacationing could be so tiring. He does glance back, tail hanging low as it sweeps over the floor slowly. ]
Is that suppose to reassure me? [ Though he says it with amusement. He glances down briefly before he finally pushes himself to his feet, just a briefest hints of being unsteady. ] I just lost track of time.
[ He grows quiet as he takes out the NookPhone to look at it for a moment before setting it on the cot. ] We both know I'm terrible at staying still when it comes to relaxing.
no subject
[ Seeing that Dokja doesn't intend to run off again, Joonghyuk takes steps forward and practically corners him in the tent. Of course, he gives his companion enough room to feel comfortable, but there is no escape right here. ]
You won't ever learn unless you try.
[ Joonghyuk's tail lowers, now swaying calmly. ]
Meditate with me.
no subject
I have tried. [ No he hasn't. Well, if he had plans to leave the tent he definitely doesn't anymore. He raises a brow after, one ear flicking as he considers his companion's request. ...? ] Okay.
[ Only because he's too tired to argue. ]

Though, he does look a little worried, so he walks over to Dokja. ]
Hey, you doing okay there? You look like you're going to pass out.
no subject
[ He wipes at the sweat gathered on his brow, placing the shovel down into the ground as he crouches to start inspecting his now gathered resources. Hmmm.. no iron nuggets, but he got gold nuggets? So, not too bad. ]
I'm fine. I've just been having trouble sleeping is all. [ Which he speaks as if it's quite normal, and it is? But he's making do. ]
no subject
You should take a break.
[ He starts getting out his water canteen... ]
no subject
[ When exactly is "after"? Who knows. Which he says with a quick smile, though it's a little frustrating if because maybe he could deal with his insomnia (or rather, pointedly avoidance of sleep) by rereading his favorite webnovel on his phone. However, checking his nook phone before proved fruitless. ]
What have you been up to today? More fishing?
no subject
[ Laurent vaguely wonders if this is how other people feel when he's usually the one pushing himself to do things to the brink of exhaustion. Though he puts that thought aside and pours Dokja a cup of water. ]
Here. At least stay hydrated.
no subject
[ Haha. Once he's done putting the resources away in his pockets does he look over to the cup, before offering a polite smile. ]
Thanks. [ To which he takes, but doesn't drink right away. ] Is your vacation life fun with how things have been?
no subject
It's been... interesting. [ He laughs a little. ] Though it wouldn't be as interesting without everyone else.
no subject
There are some.. interesting choices of people here. [ Of course he thinks of their first night and how he not only got bullied out of his own tent but almost jailed into another. ]

[ Minato walks up quietly while Dokja is fishing, watching him out of the corner of his eyes earlier but deciding he didn't want to approach while Dojka is swinging around a sharp, dangerous weapon, just in case he's still sour about Minato offering up his tent the other day. ]
You're still alive.
[ Is he disappointed? Relieved? Hard to tell. ]
no subject
He lifts his head, glancing over and recognizes who it is that approaches him. The only person to strangely offer up a tent for "jail." ] Of course. Are you surprised?
no subject
I overheard you two talk back then. [ Eavesdropping, as he was right there and couldn't help it, but it still didn't feel like a conversation he should've been a part of. ]
About settling things later, staying with the other guy for the night. Is everything okay now?
no subject
Yeah, things are fine. He's normally like that. [ The group in general is. ] He can't trust leaving me alone. [ Then why are you alone, Dokja. ]
no subject
People shouldn't be left alone, in general.
[ Just look at everybody here: a danger to themselves and others. We're all in the same boat. ]
I just thought it'd be nice to be here with somebody I know too. Whether you get along or not.
no subject
It's.. [ Nice? Is that the word he would say about having Yoo Joonghyuk here? He pauses, seeming to consider it before he continues. ] Reassuring. Especially having someone you can rely on.
So far I haven't met anyone else that has a friend from the same world. [ To his knowledge, anyways. So far it seems like everyone else is from different worlds. ]
no subject
That's good. He does seem like the reliable type. Not unreasonable, either... You're lucky.
