Week 1
Weather: Clear skies all week!
- Arrival
At 9AM Monday morning, Tom Nook will take his place at the microphone once more. He has several bins in front of him that are filled with tools. Shovels, fishing rods, bug nets, watering cans, and axes. They look...well. Functional, but flimsy. Next to the tool bins are foldable carts that you can wheel around, presumably for the tools, and some Nook Inc. knapsacks. And now that the sun is out, you can see all of the red, yellow, and white cosmos growing about the island alongside all of the weeds.
Now. Whether you’re around or not, he’s going to start his announcements when a sizable group is present.
“Good morning, everyone! Now, I know yesterday was quite a rough start for all of us, but while we’re here, let’s make the most of our stay, hm? We have a few things to go over today.” He gives everyone his best smile (though he isn’t expecting much in return) and continues: “I know a lot of you must be hungry; overnight, we had another plane fly over seasoning, milk, eggs, and vegetables for us! Soon, we’ll have more ingredients; for now, if you need anything, the food we have on-hand can be found inside of the fridge in my tent.”
Well, that’s one thing taken care of, at least. It’s not much, but it’s better than nothing.
“Next, the tools! These are what you have to start with, and, well, they aren’t exactly the most durable...but they will last for a little while. I estimate 20 uses each -- but when they break, never fear, for we have DIY Recipe cards for you to use in order to craft these tools again! I’ve included the DIY cards for your tools inside of your knapsacks; they give you the ingredients necessary to craft different things. You’re free to use the workbench in my tent to craft your new tools after they break. My best advice is to lay the materials out in the general formation of what you’re crafting and let the workbench do the rest.”
If you reach inside of your knapsack, you’ll find the cards in there...along with a cellular device of some sort. “Ah, yes,” Tom Nook says, “those are your Nook Phones. So far, you’re only able to send mass texts to everyone and receive text and call alerts from myself. Feel free to play around with those as much as you’d like, they’re solar-powered; just try not to break them, yes?”
And then, finally… “Lastly, I would like to talk about currency. I’ll provide you our currency -- bells -- and I will buy anything from you! Weeds, fish, bugs...anything! I have an ATM set up in my tent for you to easily deposit and withdraw your bells if you wish, yes, yes. If you’re wondering what you’ll be using those for...we’ll be having some special features for you starting next week! … If we can’t send you back home by then, that is.”
He looks nervous at that last part, but doesn’t mention anything beyond that regarding your situation. Tom Nook smiles at you and closes out the announcements; you now have several things you can do this week.
Possible Objectives
1. Gather natural resources to sell to Tom Nook and make some money! Bugs and fish list can be found here.
2. Use those resources to craft a variety of different things -- DIY Recipes will speed things up and make them more refined, but you're free to do your own variant of crafting, too!
3. Do some other exploration; the island section of the setting provides you with possible ways to get more resources (bottles, x-marks, balloons, etc.). Shaking trees and hitting rocks are also ways to get special items as well! If you are going to do these methods of exploration, please write “MODS” in your subject header and ping us on Plurk or Discord so we can reward you appropriately! All we ask is that you try not to go too overboard with this method of exploration (ten times a week per person, as an exaggerated example); use your best judgment!
As far as resource gathering + currency goes, we won't be keeping track of those so feel free to handwave as much as you'd like; as long as it's within reason (i.e. a character getting 1 million bells by the end of this week is...a little extreme).
Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday / Friday
(OOC: Welcome to your Week 1 Log! We apologize for the info dump; Mod Coco who plays Tom Nook has work and will not be able to NPC throughout the week, so we wanted to get the information to you folks as soon as possible. That being said, our OOC Questions top level is available for you to use!
And last but not least, we have a Weekly Plotting Post for you all to use. We aren't sure how these will shake out, but we thought we should give them a try anyway.
As always, if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to let us know! Have fun!)

[ Oh, he saw the disapproval. And the intense glare. But instead he'll hold up his bundle of gold nuggets and clay. There's also the container strapped to an arm where a.. squid? resides in. His tail sways just a little. Only a little, cause he knows Joonghyuk is mad with him. ]
no subject
That's some good loot, though. Squid would make a tasty dish—no, that isn't the point. Joonghyuk is focused. ]
You haven't been sleeping.
[ Again. ]
no subject
It also means he's just gonna go inch closer and make his way around and into the tent with a quick anxious flick of his tail. ]
I've been sleeping a little. [ It's true, he isn't lying. It's just.. between the past two days maybe two hours? Something like that. He sets his bundle beneath the cot he's been using. The squid also gets set aside as it stares back at him. He knows if he looks back now Joonghyuk is going to be right there. ] You don't have Lie Detection but I am telling the truth.
no subject
Can you at least look less nervous. Ears pinning back, he might as well relent a bit. ]
... I'm not going to hurt you today.
[ Despite threatening him quite a number of times over the NookPhone. ]
no subject
Who knew vacationing could be so tiring. He does glance back, tail hanging low as it sweeps over the floor slowly. ]
Is that suppose to reassure me? [ Though he says it with amusement. He glances down briefly before he finally pushes himself to his feet, just a briefest hints of being unsteady. ] I just lost track of time.
[ He grows quiet as he takes out the NookPhone to look at it for a moment before setting it on the cot. ] We both know I'm terrible at staying still when it comes to relaxing.
no subject
[ Seeing that Dokja doesn't intend to run off again, Joonghyuk takes steps forward and practically corners him in the tent. Of course, he gives his companion enough room to feel comfortable, but there is no escape right here. ]
You won't ever learn unless you try.
[ Joonghyuk's tail lowers, now swaying calmly. ]
Meditate with me.
no subject
I have tried. [ No he hasn't. Well, if he had plans to leave the tent he definitely doesn't anymore. He raises a brow after, one ear flicking as he considers his companion's request. ...? ] Okay.
[ Only because he's too tired to argue. ]
no subject
ARE YOU FOLLOWING HIM??? ]
no subject
Where are we going? [ Calm down? He's right behind you? If you're that unsure, just slow enough for him to walk beside. ]
no subject
To the strip of land that extends toward the ocean by tent nine.
[ It shouldn't take them that long to get there. There's a nice breeze... And the stars and moon are very bright in the night sky. ]
no subject
[ JOKING... Unless? ]
..It's nice here. [ But his words sound a little empty. He stares up at the sky, finding the same view that welcomed them the first night. For the most part his ears linger back, keeping his eyes more focused on the sky than, you know, in front of them where they're walking. ]
no subject
[ Joonghyuk isn't disagreeing, but he doesn't like that tone he has. This world is very pleasant. The apples taste nice! And he's noticed that the produce grow a lot faster than he thought. That isn't the point, though. When he reaches the area, he takes a seat on the grass and gets comfortable. ]
This isn't our world.
[ Sit next to him! ]
no subject
[ Maybe it's funny that Yoo Joonghyuk tells him that. How could he ever get comfortable? Maybe he was looking forward to once they reached their conclusion. However, here he couldn't even sleep. But he chooses not to respond. When Joonghyuk sits, he looks at him for a moment and waits to meet those dark eyes. ]
I know. [ He's very much aware that fact. He feels his fist grip a bit more firmly until he realizes he should sit? So, he does next to him and finds himself looking back out instead of the other. ]
no subject
The sea is dark and vast... But the shine of the moon reflects on its surface. ]
Close your eyes.
no subject
[ AGAIN... JOKING. Especially since he sighs and does close his eyes. Not even a minute later does his leg start to bounce, fingers tapping against his own knee with a knit of his brows.
.. He can't relax. ]
no subject
I told you we were going to meditate.
[ HUFFS. Even if it's a joke, it's a stupid one! Joonghyuk closes his eyes just like Dokja, except unlike him he's still. He's calm. He can be a statue if people want him to be. An ear flickers, catching the sound of that bobbing leg.
STOP THAT!!!!!!!! ]
Empty your thoughts.
no subject
[
stop mean to me.Though he says it in a grumble. Not like a child throwing a tantrum but, close enough. His ears fold completely back, forcing himself to stay still but his tail starts to swish over the grass now.... ... ...
Except it has the opposite effect. He suddenly has too many thoughts. All centering back home. Of course Yoo Joonghyuk doesn't have to worry about it because he doesn't know. He isn't aware of the text that only Kim Dokja saw. ]
no subject
Joonghyuk is still, also quiet, but his tail swipes at Dokja's and bumps into it. It stays flopped on top to stop it from lashing. Calm down. ]
Focus on my voice. [ Let's try this. ] Take a deep breath in.
no subject
His body stiffens briefly, feeling the weight that drops onto his tail. It does the job, however. Finding his tail completely still underneath it, while one ear swerves in direction of Joonghyuk. ]
... [ He sighs first, then does as he says and takes a deep breath in. It's suffocating. But he knows that's just his brain overreacting. ]
no subject
And out.
[ Usually, he doesn't dictate meditation. His teacher used to do this to him when he first trained with her, but it's been a long time. ]
Happy thoughts.
[ Is that familiar. ]
no subject
Happy thoughts? Before he realizes it, his thoughts which he's kept occupeid in his head the past few days come tumbling out. ] Someone needs to be the 'Most Ancient Dream' for the world to continue. If I'm here, what does that say for our world back home? The last time I went to another world-line, time moved differently. [ Yoo Joonghyuk would know just as much as the rest of their companions how long he was away. ] How much time would have passed when we go back?
[ Would that world cease to be? Would their friends, their loved ones be... He hand grips tightly onto his knee, shaking as the thoughts continue. Are they alive? Or are they dead? Would everything they've done until now.. be pointless? He used happy thoughts before to the other man so to have it told to him now.. it almost makes him laugh. ]
no subject
[ They're stripped of their powers completely and they're stranded for the most part. Until Tom Nook figures something out or an opportunity arises, they need to accept what they have... Which is weird for Joonghyuk to say. He's always been one to break rules and systems if he needs to, but not now. ]
It's not your fault. [ For being gone for three years. Also, not their fault that they're here. ] Happy thoughts.
[ Or he'll kill you. ]
no subject
bitch. ]... [ It's out of his control, he knows it. However, how can he easily enjoy this knowing he doesn't know what's happened back home? It feels wrong. Undeserved. His hands clasp together, gripping tightly as eyes flutter open to look at them.
It's brief considering he raises his gaze back up to stare at the ocean's surface again. Yoo Joonghyuk might get mad once he realizes he's still not doing what he asked of him but then again, when did Kim Dokja ever do as he asks? Except the silence does dull his thoughts and he feels the exhaustion drape over him again. ]
no subject
[ Joonghyuk continues to repeat, but he can sense that Dokja isn't listening to him. His tail thumps on top of his, though his eyes stay closed the whole time. If he needs to inject the happy thoughts into Dokja, then he will.
Take advantage of that wild imagination Dokja has. ]
We're going to the kids' graduations when we return, then have a picnic by the Han River.
[ If Dokja can at least relax for five minutes, then they can stop. ]
no subject
The kids' graduations. The opportunity they didn't get to have before the Scenarios happened, to allow them to go to school.. to learn.. He can imagine the look on their faces as they come to him afterwards, the excitement and gleam in their eyes.
He doesn't respond but the breath he intakes is shaky. He would like to be there for it. For the picnic. If one of the kids don't get what they want, then they would just have to make two picnic trips. He hasn't relaxed yet, but he does seem to wait for Joonghyuk to continue. ]
