Weather: Clear skies all week!

Arrival

At 9AM Monday morning, Tom Nook will take his place at the microphone once more. He has several bins in front of him that are filled with tools. Shovels, fishing rods, bug nets, watering cans, and axes. They look...well. Functional, but flimsy. Next to the tool bins are foldable carts that you can wheel around, presumably for the tools, and some Nook Inc. knapsacks. And now that the sun is out, you can see all of the red, yellow, and white cosmos growing about the island alongside all of the weeds.

Now. Whether you’re around or not, he’s going to start his announcements when a sizable group is present.

“Good morning, everyone! Now, I know yesterday was quite a rough start for all of us, but while we’re here, let’s make the most of our stay, hm? We have a few things to go over today.” He gives everyone his best smile (though he isn’t expecting much in return) and continues: “I know a lot of you must be hungry; overnight, we had another plane fly over seasoning, milk, eggs, and vegetables for us! Soon, we’ll have more ingredients; for now, if you need anything, the food we have on-hand can be found inside of the fridge in my tent.”

Well, that’s one thing taken care of, at least. It’s not much, but it’s better than nothing.

“Next, the tools! These are what you have to start with, and, well, they aren’t exactly the most durable...but they will last for a little while. I estimate 20 uses each -- but when they break, never fear, for we have DIY Recipe cards for you to use in order to craft these tools again! I’ve included the DIY cards for your tools inside of your knapsacks; they give you the ingredients necessary to craft different things. You’re free to use the workbench in my tent to craft your new tools after they break. My best advice is to lay the materials out in the general formation of what you’re crafting and let the workbench do the rest.”

If you reach inside of your knapsack, you’ll find the cards in there...along with a cellular device of some sort. “Ah, yes,” Tom Nook says, “those are your Nook Phones. So far, you’re only able to send mass texts to everyone and receive text and call alerts from myself. Feel free to play around with those as much as you’d like, they’re solar-powered; just try not to break them, yes?”

And then, finally… “Lastly, I would like to talk about currency. I’ll provide you our currency -- bells -- and I will buy anything from you! Weeds, fish, bugs...anything! I have an ATM set up in my tent for you to easily deposit and withdraw your bells if you wish, yes, yes. If you’re wondering what you’ll be using those for...we’ll be having some special features for you starting next week! … If we can’t send you back home by then, that is.”

He looks nervous at that last part, but doesn’t mention anything beyond that regarding your situation. Tom Nook smiles at you and closes out the announcements; you now have several things you can do this week.



Possible Objectives

1. Gather natural resources to sell to Tom Nook and make some money! Bugs and fish list can be found here.
2. Use those resources to craft a variety of different things -- DIY Recipes will speed things up and make them more refined, but you're free to do your own variant of crafting, too!
3. Do some other exploration; the island section of the setting provides you with possible ways to get more resources (bottles, x-marks, balloons, etc.). Shaking trees and hitting rocks are also ways to get special items as well! If you are going to do these methods of exploration, please write “MODS” in your subject header and ping us on Plurk or Discord so we can reward you appropriately! All we ask is that you try not to go too overboard with this method of exploration (ten times a week per person, as an exaggerated example); use your best judgment!

As far as resource gathering + currency goes, we won't be keeping track of those so feel free to handwave as much as you'd like; as long as it's within reason (i.e. a character getting 1 million bells by the end of this week is...a little extreme).

SMOOCH OR DARE

[ Now, for a favorite(?) party game, Smooch or Dare. People will sit in a big circle, spinning a (empty) bottle that someone found on the beach. It's very similar to Spin the Bottle, except you have the option to pass on the kiss and accept a dare instead. Let's try to keep the dares PG, please.

The rules will be explained to everyone!

If you need an excuse for your character to play, just assume Laurent somehow either conned them or dragged them here to play. "It'll be fun," he says. ]

[ This sounded like a really fun game. Potential kisses from girls!!! .... Ok but in reality, he's fully just expecting dares which he's totally fine with as well. It's all in good fun.

He takes the bottle and starts to spin it. ]

[ You go take a day (Thursday) off relaxing and suddenly the next day he's dragged into.. a silly game. He imagines games like this are something a lot of people played as teenagers, but well Kim Dokja never had a normal upbringing.

He looks like he doesn't want to be here and it's not wrong! Especially when he's addressed and he holds up a hand as if to politely turn them down. ]

I'm just here to watch. [ Sighs.... can somebody else make a scene so he can sneak off? Thanks. He's also in a normal shirt and pants- not a single swimwear in sight. (Boooooo, Dokja you suck.) ]

[ Joonghyuk hasn't said anything, but he's looking at Dokja and hoping he knows what he's thinking.

[ It's going to be dare or dare because nobody should want to kiss Minato who has zero shame and no qualms for doing whatever. He just about shot a man back home because he was asked. Nothing can stop him. ]

[ This is the first time he's heard of this kidn of game but playing games is something he's always down for! Especially with Kaede. Ok but admittedly he is a bit nervous about this.

He tries not to show it though as he begins to spin the bottle... ]

[ ... Joonghyuk is just glaring at Laurent the whole time. How dare he bring him here? He just wants to eat his food in peace, but the circle is strategically placed where he is and he doesn't want to leave until his food is done.

So, yes, he's going to glower the whole time. ]

[Honestly, Ren has no idea why he's partaking in this game. He's never played Spin the Bottle before, and he hasn't really played Truth or Dare, either. But here he is.

[ Ok so not even gonna lie, Sengoku's totally looking around at the girls first before he realizes that things are suddenly quiet. As he glances around, he notices Ren and beams at him. ]

[Being honest, part of why he was so agreeable to come and plop down in the circle is because he's been sharing a tent with two kids and has been freaking out about the possibility that there aren't enough adults here to keep the island from burning to the ground -- never mind that he's still vocally against this island living thing.]

Never really liked "dare"... It usually ended up being "smooch" anyway -- no option for Truth or Smooch?

[The only beach-y thing about him is his gladiator sandals, but at least his sunglasses are perched on top of his head instead of him wearing them like he's too cool for this.]
