A New Week

This weekend, you had unusual dreams. For some of you, they brought you to an outdoor arena that none of you had ever seen before. For others, you dreamed of a familiar place: a place that felt like home in some way. And when you fall asleep on Sunday night, you’ll find that dreams of your homes are continuing. Your home may be exactly as you remember it, at any point in time before you arrived here; perhaps there will be slight differences, or maybe it seems like a different version of your home altogether. Maybe nobody else is in it except for you.

For each dreamer, however, you’ll find that your dreams will start in your own world; but at some point, there will be a mysterious blue light that appears. It looks like a large portal that will lead you to somewhere. Choose to step inside, and you’ll be taken to a random islander’s dream. Alternatively, if you elect to remain inside of your own dream, you may suddenly see a ray of yellow light that appears, and once the light fades, another one of your fellow islanders will appear before you.

Abilities will work as they did over the weekend in your dreams and in the real world. Everyone will have one of their own, whether it be their existing powers from home or something new entirely. Even the formerly powerless will have something within them -- namely something similar to what the strange boy you saw this weekend could do. Perhaps you now have the ability to launch apples at your opponents at a lightning fast speed. Maybe you can rip a tree out of the ground with your bare hands.

And most importantly...everyone will remember their dreams when they wake. Your memories of seeing your friends’ homes (or seeing them in your home instead) will remain. These dreams seem to happen every night for the rest of the week.

Things do seem to return to relative normalcy on Monday morning. Tom Nook’s announcements begin, though he only has two new things to report.

“Good morning, everyone! I hope you all had a fun weekend, yes? I apologize for not having much for you to do this time around, but hopefully you could all use it as a chance to relax. Now, though, it’s time to get back to work on event planning. I’m hoping to bring K.K. Slider over by August 15th, so if that date does work for all of you to host the event, then that’s when you’ll need to be ready by. Once you’ve all decided on what to do, the other thing I’ll need for you to do is to create flyer designs.

In my tent are some papers and markers, crayons and what have you. It may see a little...childish, for some of you, but I assure you that your creativity will come a long way in capturing the hearts of all sorts of people in this world! Feel free to submit as many designs as you want, and I’ll send them over to Nook Inc. to make copies of all of them. We’ll work with Orville to get them all sent out.”

The next and final announcement follows immediately afterwards.

“And finally, we have an exciting opportunity passed onto me by the Able Sisters! Mabel and Sable are holding a design contest for an Isle Sonrisa pattern to put on some of their clothing! Channel your island spirit into your design and create something that you think best represents the island. You can use the supplies for the flyers to draw out your designs, and submit them to Mabel by Thursday. Everyone will get a participation prize of 5,000 bells, but there will be a grand prize for the person whose design gets selected!”

He claps his hands for a brief moment in excitement.

“That’s all for your announcements! Have a wonderful week, everyone!”

[Dreams were a difficult thing for Scintilla. The vague gray areas between reality and imagination were somewhere she practically lived by now; in others' memories, in prophetic visions, in the reconstructions of places long gone.]

[This, however...this was home, or as close to it as one could get in the brief respite of a slumbering mind. In a snowy climate past some long-abandoned stone ruins was a precarious cliffside...overlooking a massive city lit like the star-patterned sky that had barely begun its shift into dawn.]

[On the cliff's edge was a single grave, adorned only with fresh white lilies and a broken shield bearing the emblem of a red unicorn's head. (Perhaps a familiar one, to those who watched when violet Miqo'te ears moved.) Upon the stone itself was inscribed a set of Eorzean dates twenty-eight years apart, and above them the name Haurchefant Greystone.]

...and he's a bleedin' raccoon, fer Byregot's sake, I feel like I'm losin' my godsdamned mind.

[Sitting cross-legged in front of the gravestone was Scintilla, of course--tail swaying animatedly as she talked as if to an enraptured audience--in a thick accent reminiscent of a sailor in a tavern.]

Says he doesn't really know why, but th' dreams're gettin weirder, if my bein' here ain't hint enough. This realm's nothin' like travelin' to the First--hell, ain't nothin' like the Thirteenth either. Iunno what I'm s'posed to do around here--no gods or Ascians or Garleans to deal with, all that's back at home doin' who knows what.

[Sighing, her tail dropped into the snow as if dejected.]

...If any one of 'em gets hurt while I'm here screwin' about, then what is the bleedin' point of me?

[If you happen to be wandering through other people's dreams tonight, you might find yourself in the dark, literally. Welcome to Duskmoon Forest, we've got lots of shades of blue! It's not an altogether unpleasant place- the moonlight shines through the forest canopy above enough to light your way, and the foliage has an ethereal beauty to it. Still, you might not want to venture too far off the path, because occasionally something causes the bushes nearby to rustle- and did you hear a distant howl just now?

Come to a clearing, and you'll find Kevin sprawled out in the grass, hands under his head, staring up at the night sky. Kevin laying around in weird places is nothing new, but this time he has a companion. A wolf pup with yellow fur and a white belly is sleeping next to him, occasionally kicking its legs as if it's dreaming of running. If he sees anyone approach, Kevin will sit up and stare at them curiously.]

[ During the day coming around house two there's a... particular smell? Like dumplings and distinctively like chicken, for anyone familiar, but otherwise it's got an enticing smell and Dokja seems quite pleased with his work. He quickly peeks out the window, looking around.. maybe looking for someone?

Anyone that's curious enough close by to the window, he may be willing to offer a dumpling. ] Did you want to try one? I'll share if you promise to keep it a secret.

[ There also looks like to be some parfait cups.. could try and wrangle one of those as well. ]

[ Once everything is ready, Dokja is here guiding his partner.. somewhere. He has a clear idea in mind but gives no hints to the picnic area meant for Joonghyuk's birthday. Rather, barely gives him much of the island to look at as he walks backwards in front of his companion. Given the fact he's in his demon transformation with his wings completely flared out as though purposely blocking him from seeing behind the reader.

It looks ridiculous honestly. Like a bird trying to show off its feathers in an attempt of courtship. Not that it's necessary, the two already exchanged confessions over a week ago. ..Two? Either way, he's probably being a bit annoying about it but Joonghyuk will have to deal. ] If you only put on the blindfold like I asked, I wouldn't have to do it like this.

Do you not trust me, Joonghyuk-ah?

[The dreams seem to be a more constant thing, this time. Who knows why, or what it means. It doesn't really seem all that important, right now.

Tonight you might find yourself in an apartment, located in the heart of a city. People from Earth might be able to recognize it from the skyline and place it as Houston, but it's undeniably somewhere very, very expensive to live. The apartment is huge, and it's kept incredibly clean though there are a few hints that it's actually lived in. A hoodie draped over the back of the couch, shoes by the front door, a well-stocked kitchen with a plate of cookies covered in saran wrap. There are multiple bedrooms - the largest has thick, heavy curtains that block out the sunlight streaming through the windows. There are two smaller rooms, one that seems unoccupied, perhaps set aside for guests.

The occupied room is simple - there's women's clothing in the closet and hamper, but there's not much in the way of personal touches. The decor in the room is impersonal, similar in style to the rest of the apartment. There's an empty, open suitcase in front of the bed.

The most impressive room in the house, though, is the library. Shelves upon shelves of books, many of which seem to be old. There's a cozy looking chair with a standing lamp beside it, with a blanket thrown over the back and a table perfect for setting down your tea. On the floor there is a simple, white rug. Mostly white rug. An odd, circular pattern has been painted on the rug in something dark and reddish that nobody could blame you for assuming is blood, especially considering there's a knife set on the table. An assortment of candles is on the floor next to the rug, waiting to be used. The library is where Adelaide can be found, sitting cross-legged by the rug.]

It's weird, being back here.

[But, she supposes, this is more of a home than anywhere else has been.]

...I can't believe I miss you guys, but... It's better this way, isn't it?

[ like everyone else, hitsugaya has a dream of his own. his may be a bit harder to recognize as being hitsugaya's at first since the boy that stands in front of you upon arrival is only a vague image of isle sonrisa's resident wolf. there are a few things that are telling: the hair fringe, the color of his eyes, the scarf and the shinigami uniform that he donned on the first day. he's looking at you with those turquoise eyes of his expectantly. ]

Hm. So you're here.

[ the environment around you is very structured, certainly more so than isle sonrisa. there are shadowy figures walking around in the same black robes that hitsugaya himself is wearing, but without the white haori. everyone here also has a sword hoisted on their backs or their waists. ]

Well, there's not much to see here. And quit staring at me. It's weird.

[ Early Wednesday morning, Laurent puts up a bulletin board notice next to the Residential Service tent.

Give the star rocks to people who want to go back home.

He won't linger in the area, so just consider it as a PSA of sorts.

When you see Laurent's dream on Tuesday/Wednesday night, you'll find yourself in a vast room, dim with blue light. There are all sorts of people there, but when they notice you, you'll feel constricted right away:

> Cutting function is impossible for tools the intruder has on them.
> Healing function is impossible for the intruder.
> Limb movement function is impossible for the intruder.
> Successful casting possibility has been reduced to 0.0000001% for the intruder.
> Hostile actions will certainly backfire for the intruder.

Their eyes shine among the dim blue lighting in their respective colors. Otherwise, they look like humanoids of various ages from child to young adult to middle aged, wearing modern clothes. The little girl, who doesn't look older than 12, pipes up with a smile and a sweet voice: "Sorry. It's standard protocol for unwanted visitors."

A man with dark brown hair, glasses, with doctor's attire speaks next: "Did 'End' bring you here? He must really hate us, huh?"

"Can't be helped," a man with black hair with a white streak in his hair says in a disinterested tone as he's lounging from the couch, "he's young and probably doesn't give a shit about consequences."

Laurent stands next to you, listening to them talk as if he isn't here. He attempts to end the restrictions put on the visitor, but nothing happens. The man in the doctor's attire grins.

"Careful, you wouldn't want that to backfire." ]

[ On Wednesday, you'll see someone wandering around the island with a noh mask over their face. If you approach them, you will immediately get a fox mask put over your face. This world's equipping mechanics are pretty handy, huh. If you try to bat that away before it reaches your face, another facewear and accessory will be flung at you face, but this time, it's a cat nose and a hair ribbon. This time, your attempts at swatting these away will be prevented, as if your limbs stopped moving for three seconds enough for these to be put on your head.

Someone's enjoying themselves... ]

[ In your dreams, you might find yourself in a school, but one that looks completely overgrown, as if it has been abandoned for decades. The air is heavy, so much that it feels like it's weighing down on you, making you think of all your worst fears. All of the windows have bars on them, with a barbed wire over those bars. You'll also notice monitors in every room, some in big setups and others hanging from the ceiling. The monitors look incredibly out of place, and definitely should not be there. All of them have nothing displayed on the screen, but they are still working.

There's plenty of places to explore, from the gym to the dining hall and even to a giant storage room with all kinds of supplies. The amenities are nice, but out of place as patches of grass and trees still make their presence known in every room. As you walk around, you might come across some of the residents, but no matter what you do, they won't notice you as they continue to go about their business.

Eventually, you may end up outside and realize that there is no way to leave as the entire school is surrounded by what looks like a giant cage. Half of the building seems to still be under construction too, with walls blocking off whatever projects are being built.

Kaede can be found outside in the courtyard. There isn't much in the courtyard, aside from a ninja statue and a building with a red door. The other paths, aside from the one leading into the courtyard, are blocked by rubble. She looks lost in thought, but Kaede turns around as she hears someone approach. ]

You're here too?

[ She's not surprised, however, as she was wondering when someone else would show up in her dreams. ]

[Kevin can be found doing a lot today!... It's almost as if he's trying to keep his mind off the dreams or something. Hmm.

In the plaza, he can be found surrounded by piles of paper and crayons. He's trying to make a flyer for the big event, but much like how he didn't know how to read or write before coming here, he's also never drawn with crayons. So all of his attempts so far are just lots of colorful scribbles. In fact he seems to have forgotten his original task entirely and is just scribbling wildly. Maybe, uh, someone should make sure he doesn't use up all of Tom Nook's supplies?

Later, he can be found at house 5 surrounded by a ton of stuff. It's not actually a yard sale- he just leaves everything he gets in the mail laying on the ground like that. Kevin is ignoring all of it currently, because he's hard at work making some tools! He's already made a fishing rod, and now he's working on a bug net.]

[So. Dreams are weird and Lio's never much liked his. It's not that he has nightmares or anything, it's just that he tends to wake up desperately needing to burn things and that can be a problem if he's not anywhere that's safe to burn.

This dream's different, though. There's still that familiar, warm faint laughter that sounds closer to fire crackling and burning than anything else in the background of the dream that Lio's used to, but...everything else is different. It's Promepolis at night (minus the smoke and fire), but there's no anti-Burnish propaganda or any signs of a major fight or anything Lio'd expect.

And Lio is standing under a billboard that features a firefighter and him standing together, the other guy's arm thrown over Lio's shoulders as they beam at the camera.

The sign says "Heroes of Promepolis"]

Huh.

[This dream opens onto an open plain. You can see a few trees, and there's a jungle and mountains in the distance, but the area right here is grasslands with the sun beating down. For the most part, everything is wild and open.

But if you look, you'll find some signs of something else. Large signs that have been worn down for years, their contents illegible. Yellowed pamphlets kept in animal-proof brochure holders. Roads that have long since been taken by overgrowth. It might seem haunting, but the overall feeling in the dream is that this is a happy place and the signs of what a human will see as ruin and decay just come off to the people who live here as something that's always been this way.

You might also find a weird little robot wandering around. If you are visibly human, it will scan you, eyes lighting up, and say:]

Welcome to the Savannah Area. I am Lucky Beast. What is your name?

[But if you're not human in the dream, either kemonomimi or full animal style, the Lucky Beast will just give you a Japari Bun of a random flavour and waddle away.

You can also find Serval, drinking out of a watering hole by putting her face in it. Cat gonna cat. She looks up and waves at you.]

Hi! It's usually pretty busy here, but I guess everyone else drank already.

[It's Tokyo at night! Sonico is dreaming of home, and with it comes the big city, with people and lights everywhere!

There's a couple of girls, one oddly dressed as a nurse, holding a bass case, and the other eating some buns.

"Hey Sonico, we're going to be late for practice!"

Sonico is laughing, how does she miss her friends. She turns to look at the side, and smiles.]

These are my friends, and the city I live in!
