Week 6
Weather: All Week - Clear Skies
- A New Week
This weekend, you had unusual dreams. For some of you, they brought you to an outdoor arena that none of you had ever seen before. For others, you dreamed of a familiar place: a place that felt like home in some way. And when you fall asleep on Sunday night, you’ll find that dreams of your homes are continuing. Your home may be exactly as you remember it, at any point in time before you arrived here; perhaps there will be slight differences, or maybe it seems like a different version of your home altogether. Maybe nobody else is in it except for you.
For each dreamer, however, you’ll find that your dreams will start in your own world; but at some point, there will be a mysterious blue light that appears. It looks like a large portal that will lead you to somewhere. Choose to step inside, and you’ll be taken to a random islander’s dream. Alternatively, if you elect to remain inside of your own dream, you may suddenly see a ray of yellow light that appears, and once the light fades, another one of your fellow islanders will appear before you.
Abilities will work as they did over the weekend in your dreams and in the real world. Everyone will have one of their own, whether it be their existing powers from home or something new entirely. Even the formerly powerless will have something within them -- namely something similar to what the strange boy you saw this weekend could do. Perhaps you now have the ability to launch apples at your opponents at a lightning fast speed. Maybe you can rip a tree out of the ground with your bare hands.
And most importantly...everyone will remember their dreams when they wake. Your memories of seeing your friends’ homes (or seeing them in your home instead) will remain. These dreams seem to happen every night for the rest of the week.

Things do seem to return to relative normalcy on Monday morning. Tom Nook’s announcements begin, though he only has two new things to report.
“Good morning, everyone! I hope you all had a fun weekend, yes? I apologize for not having much for you to do this time around, but hopefully you could all use it as a chance to relax. Now, though, it’s time to get back to work on event planning. I’m hoping to bring K.K. Slider over by August 15th, so if that date does work for all of you to host the event, then that’s when you’ll need to be ready by. Once you’ve all decided on what to do, the other thing I’ll need for you to do is to create flyer designs.
In my tent are some papers and markers, crayons and what have you. It may see a little...childish, for some of you, but I assure you that your creativity will come a long way in capturing the hearts of all sorts of people in this world! Feel free to submit as many designs as you want, and I’ll send them over to Nook Inc. to make copies of all of them. We’ll work with Orville to get them all sent out.”
The next and final announcement follows immediately afterwards.
“And finally, we have an exciting opportunity passed onto me by the Able Sisters! Mabel and Sable are holding a design contest for an Isle Sonrisa pattern to put on some of their clothing! Channel your island spirit into your design and create something that you think best represents the island. You can use the supplies for the flyers to draw out your designs, and submit them to Mabel by Thursday. Everyone will get a participation prize of 5,000 bells, but there will be a grand prize for the person whose design gets selected!”
He claps his hands for a brief moment in excitement.
“That’s all for your announcements! Have a wonderful week, everyone!”
Possible Objectives
1. Participate in the Able Sisters' design contest. (Note: Entries can be drawn OR written out OOCly. We will choose a winner via RNG.)
2. Work towards preparing the island for your event
3. Make those flyers and submit them to Tom Nook (drawn or written OOCly is fine)
4. See what's going on in your dreams...

Lies have never had this kind of effect and pull over him till Dokja smiled and told him he had a plan. Quietly, he leans into that hand as he grumbles a bit, entertaining the other man's proposal. It would count for lost time, but— ]
It wouldn't be the same.
[ In Joonghyuk's mind, it makes him feel like he might not see Dokja again. ]
no subject
He couldn't blame Joonghyuk for his train of thinking. Most of it was in text before he branched out from being a character. One hand rests against the blanket beneath him as he leans up, keeping that hand cradling the other's jaw. However, he's aware despite the secured picnic spot they aren't exactly alone on the island.
It's why one wing unfolds and holds out around, as though to block them from view in a semi cocoon of feathers with his voice growing quieter. For a moment he glances to his companion's lips, and of course someone doesn't miss that opportunity. ⸢Kim Dokja wonders if kissing him right now would taste like dumplings.⸥ His own lips twitch, cheeks a light tint and does his best to ignore that unhelpful thought. ⸢Hm ph⸥ ]
Okay. We'll celebrate it later back home then, with everyone else.
no subject
He gives that a squint. Isn't this too showy? Maybe even drawing more attention to them? Well, he isn't the one that is going to get embarrassed if they're caught. Quiet, he continues to rest his head in that hand almost lazily until he pulls back. The dumplings will get cold, so he takes a second one into his hand. ]
Everyone has been saving up your presents. You can expect a large haul. [ Before he feasts, he gives Dokja a quick peck on the lips. ] Not that you deserve it.
no subject
A large haul? Really? [ There's a look of surprise, which widens at the quick peck and he feels his cheeks grow a little more warmer. Oh he.. wasn't expecting that. Wings shake and shift back to fold against him once more before both them and the horns disappear entirely.
Followed by a clear of his throat as he reaches for a parfait cup to taste something cooler. Something to take off his mind from the heat pooling on his face. He takes a spoonful but doesn't eat from it right away. ] That's cruel, Joonghyuk-ah.
[ There's a brief pause, staring at the cup as the joking tone leaves him. ] It's..a bit weird. To think I'll be able to spend my birthdays with everyone from now on. [ Hopes to. It'll take some getting use to. ]
no subject
Joonghyuk eats a couple of dumplings as he listens to Dokja, savoring the familiar, though a little off, taste. It's not awful and he can sense the effort put into them. For a couple of days, he wondered why Dokja had been using the kitchen, then asking for desserts... And also asking to help when making the desserts.
His eyebrow twitches as he realizes he didn't piece everything together properly. It was suspicious, but he couldn't have guessed it's for his birthday. ]
It's how it should be. If you ever forget, everyone else will remember.
[ Because how could they not? It's the ordinary happiness they always wanted. Joonghyuk continues to eat. Look at his chubby fat cheeks. ]
... But they might integrate a punishment game for you on your birthday.
no subject
Even if this may be the only time he'll see it. He places the spoon into his mouth, savoring the sweetness of the parfait. His head tilts as he listens to those words. Right. Even if he forgets... everyone will still remember.
He pauses in his eating, looking over at the hamster stuffed cheeks and snorts a little. A hand raises up to brush a thumb in a sweep over the corner of his companion's lips with a distant sigh. ] And I suppose I don't have a say in that?
Maybe I'll make a habit of going out for my birthday. [ Can't punish him if he isn't around :um: ]
no subject
Dokja is spared for now. ]
... You'll make them cry. [ As in the kids. He leaves a couple of dumplings for Dokja to enjoy, now moving onto the parfait? Joonghyuk's nose wrinkles as he smells it (don't judge him). ] They would track you down.
[ There's no escape, so he isn't sure why his companion is trying to weasel his way out. He snatches a spoon and scoops a sample to taste. Parfait isn't bad, either. ]
no subject
...I've done that plenty by now. [ Despite the words, it isn't something he's proud of. His hands still as the spoon returns to the parfait and he lingers thinking on this. He's seen them cry many... many times by now. How he's wished he could wipe said tears away. How once upon a time, he thought such tears were wasted on a man like Kim Dokja.
Otherwise, he does notice the smelling but doesn't point it out. He did it before back during the Journey to the West with the dumplings. Which Dokja has come to realize Joonghyuk actually relies on smell for quite a few things. ] I know.
[ Dokja makes no more attempts of eating. Not the dumplings, not the parfait still in hand. Instead, he distantly looks out as silence fills him. Would he ever be able to make it up to them? To the kids? to the rest of the company? ..Probably not. Not with how many times he's betrayed them... going to betray them. It won't change his decision but he does see their hurt, every time it's reflected in their eyes. His tail curls around himself tightly with a light quiver. ]
no subject
On one hand, he's disheartened to see Dokja remorseful. On the other, he's pissed off that he's feeling sorry when he plans to go through with whatever scheme he has, anyway. ]
... You have a stupid looking expression on your face.
[ He doesn't like it. Joonghyuk's tail lashes again, batting Dokja in its wild whips. ]
no subject
He takes another scoop with a squint of his eyes. ] It won't hurt you to be a little nicer, you know?
[ Except by the tone of his voice, he's clearly teasing. He doesn't expect as much from his companion. Insults are ready to be given out almost like candy. Yoo Joonghyuk has always had a harsh way of talking so he's use to it. With the cup finished, he helps himself to another dumpling after. ] You said that you're happy. ..That's enough for me right now.
no subject
... You need to think about your own happiness, too.
[ Everyone would be happier if Dokja thought about himself once in a while instead of making sure everyone else is cared for. Joonghyuk genuinely believes that. He eats some more, but lets the spoon rest on his tongue as he lets the flavor sink in. Idly, the tip of his tail wags. ]
The parfait is palatable. [ ... ] Have you always wanted to do this?
[ Plan a birthday surprise. ]
no subject
[ It's a wry smile that Dokja gives the other man. Of course, Joonghyuk can't exactly say that what he's doing now isn't making him happy. Because.. it is. Making memories like this.. even though the happier he feels, the more guiltier he feels too, the more he knows it will be harder to let go. In a way, it's a sort of punishment.
He laughs a little at the mention of the parfait. It was good. His tail uncurls from its tight restraint around him, brushing over and resting over that black tail with a curl. ]
Hmmm, I didn't know until now. At first, I thought it should be something I could learn for the kids. [ Quietly, he looks back at him with a slight lean. The planning.. the preparation for it.. maybe he did always want to plan a surprise party. ] I had fun doing it.
no subject
Happiness. Guilt. Joonghyuk understands those sentiments, but he can't let it get to him. Or maybe Dokja's presence reminds him he shouldn't. They have to be strong for each other. He has to be strong for Dokja. Being strong for Dokja means eating his parfait and pulling out one of the biscuits to nibble through it like a hamster. It's not overly sweet which is how he likes his desserts. ]
... You did well.
[ It's something he knows he hasn't told Dokja enough back at home. He never thought he needed to, but Dokja also never found a time to... Stop. ]
no subject
Hearing that compliment has him shift a little where he sits. He remembers last time Joonghyuk said something similar, due to a dare. So he observes him now with a curious look in his eyes. However, he smiles a little more and he leans against his companion.
How often he's leaned on him before but never really like this. ] Then I'd say this was a success, even though I technically didn't get you a gift.
[ They're quite limited here and so far he hasn't found anything that seem.. fitting. Not since that time he commissioned that pocket watch. ]
no subject
Despite being so mean to him earlier, Joonghyuk doesn't shake him off at all when Dokja leans against him. He lets that weight settle as he scrapes at the bottom of his parfait glass. It seems despite Joonghyuk's complaints, he prefers to clean his plate. ]
... Food is a gift, Kim Dokja.
[ If anything, Joonghyuk believes it is the greatest gift. It's what keeps humans alive, so how could he not consider it one? Even if he refuses to eat most food—that comes from mostly arrogance. ]
no subject
His head lingers against a shoulder with a flicker of his ears back as he draws his gaze back to the island. Then, he moves and suddenly drops his head in the other man's lap with a grin up. ] Even though you're pretty picky, Joonghyuk-ah.
[ Now, he gauges the other's man expression to see his reaction. ]
no subject
Picky eater. Sure. Maybe. Without a second thought, he carefully brushes Dokja's bangs to one side. They're getting a little long. ]
You won't eat tomatoes.
[ PINCHES HIS NOSE. ]
no subject
Help. ] Gah! [ Swats that offensive hand away. His voice pitches under the pinch, doing his best to speak while he chases it away. ] It's fine without them!
no subject
Some tomato dishes are delicious. You are depriving yourself of that experience.
no subject
Which I am doing quite happily, thank you. [ He gasps out. Pushing a hand in Joonghyuk's face if he's not gonna let so easily. Punk, you think he won't try and slap your handsome cheeks? ]
no subject
You're being rude.
[ HE KNOWS HE'S A HYPOCRITE. ]
no subject
Look at it. Look at him. Dokja is being rude? He doesn't need to say anything, Joonghyuk should already know what Dokja wants to say to that. ]
no subject
The other man, on the other hand? Dokja is being rude. If he's going to give him the silent, judgmental look, Joonghyuk will of course return it. ]
no subject
Dokja shakes his head side to side, to the best of his ability as he grumbles. His tail starting to bat against that black one with a pin back of white black-tipped ears. ] You're acting like a child.
no subject
Eventually, he lets him go and his scowl softens. ]
... It's my birthday.
[ He can be baby if he wants? ]
