Week 1

WEEK 1 LOG
Weather: Clear skies all week!

    Arrival

At 9AM Monday morning, Tom Nook will take his place at the microphone once more. He has several bins in front of him that are filled with tools. Shovels, fishing rods, bug nets, watering cans, and axes. They look...well. Functional, but flimsy. Next to the tool bins are foldable carts that you can wheel around, presumably for the tools, and some Nook Inc. knapsacks. And now that the sun is out, you can see all of the red, yellow, and white cosmos growing about the island alongside all of the weeds.

Now. Whether you’re around or not, he’s going to start his announcements when a sizable group is present.

“Good morning, everyone! Now, I know yesterday was quite a rough start for all of us, but while we’re here, let’s make the most of our stay, hm? We have a few things to go over today.” He gives everyone his best smile (though he isn’t expecting much in return) and continues: “I know a lot of you must be hungry; overnight, we had another plane fly over seasoning, milk, eggs, and vegetables for us! Soon, we’ll have more ingredients; for now, if you need anything, the food we have on-hand can be found inside of the fridge in my tent.”

Well, that’s one thing taken care of, at least. It’s not much, but it’s better than nothing.

“Next, the tools! These are what you have to start with, and, well, they aren’t exactly the most durable...but they will last for a little while. I estimate 20 uses each -- but when they break, never fear, for we have DIY Recipe cards for you to use in order to craft these tools again! I’ve included the DIY cards for your tools inside of your knapsacks; they give you the ingredients necessary to craft different things. You’re free to use the workbench in my tent to craft your new tools after they break. My best advice is to lay the materials out in the general formation of what you’re crafting and let the workbench do the rest.”

If you reach inside of your knapsack, you’ll find the cards in there...along with a cellular device of some sort. “Ah, yes,” Tom Nook says, “those are your Nook Phones. So far, you’re only able to send mass texts to everyone and receive text and call alerts from myself. Feel free to play around with those as much as you’d like, they’re solar-powered; just try not to break them, yes?”

And then, finally… “Lastly, I would like to talk about currency. I’ll provide you our currency -- bells -- and I will buy anything from you! Weeds, fish, bugs...anything! I have an ATM set up in my tent for you to easily deposit and withdraw your bells if you wish, yes, yes. If you’re wondering what you’ll be using those for...we’ll be having some special features for you starting next week! … If we can’t send you back home by then, that is.”

He looks nervous at that last part, but doesn’t mention anything beyond that regarding your situation. Tom Nook smiles at you and closes out the announcements; you now have several things you can do this week.

    Possible Objectives

    1. Gather natural resources to sell to Tom Nook and make some money! Bugs and fish list can be found here.
    2. Use those resources to craft a variety of different things -- DIY Recipes will speed things up and make them more refined, but you're free to do your own variant of crafting, too!
    3. Do some other exploration; the island section of the setting provides you with possible ways to get more resources (bottles, x-marks, balloons, etc.). Shaking trees and hitting rocks are also ways to get special items as well! If you are going to do these methods of exploration, please write “MODS” in your subject header and ping us on Plurk or Discord so we can reward you appropriately! All we ask is that you try not to go too overboard with this method of exploration (ten times a week per person, as an exaggerated example); use your best judgment!

As far as resource gathering + currency goes, we won't be keeping track of those so feel free to handwave as much as you'd like; as long as it's within reason (i.e. a character getting 1 million bells by the end of this week is...a little extreme).

    OOC Questions
    Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday / Friday

(OOC: Welcome to your Week 1 Log! We apologize for the info dump; Mod Coco who plays Tom Nook has work and will not be able to NPC throughout the week, so we wanted to get the information to you folks as soon as possible. That being said, our OOC Questions top level is available for you to use!

And last but not least, we have a Weekly Plotting Post for you all to use. We aren't sure how these will shake out, but we thought we should give them a try anyway.

As always, if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to let us know! Have fun!)

[Sure, sure. All reasonable things.]

Well... I'm not sure everyone will be as easy as I am, but I'll do you a solid.

[e-easy... mmmm, he shouldn't be thinking these things about a perfectly nice new acquaintance!! curse his stupid male brain!]

Are you...doing that on purpose...?

[personal profile] transfusionem 2020-07-03 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
[She's never done anything on purpose in her life.]

...No?

[She has no idea what he means.]

[Except for fucking with him. She knew what she was doing there, and she successfully killed the man.]

Hnnnevermind, then...

[He awkwardly rubs at the back of his neck and casts his gaze to the side so he doesn't get even more embarrassed looking at her.]

If it ends up just being you and me, that's cool with me, too. I believe in your capability for mutiny.

[Big f...]

No, wait, what do you mean?

[Tell her!!

...But anyways.]

I hope I don't disappoint!

[noooo, why this]

If I tell you, you're gonna slap me.

[personal profile] transfusionem 2020-07-03 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn’t do that! [Honest!]

[personal profile] aggroculture 2020-07-03 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[doubt!!! He very clearly has some doubts about that, but since he obviously isn't going to get out of it, Theo blows out a sigh and shifts his weight to his heels.]

Just, uh. "Easy", "adult company"... Not wanting to "disappoint", maybe. I know you were just teasing earlier calling me cute, but...

[personal profile] transfusionem 2020-07-03 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[It takes a moment for the pieces to fall into place, but when they do her cheeks go bright, brilliant red.]

Oh! Oh, wow, that was... Not intentional at all, uh. Not that you're not attractive! You are. Just, hah, wow, uh.

[Haaaahahaha kill her now.]
aggroculture: (58)

[personal profile] aggroculture 2020-07-03 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[aaaaaaaa no!! she's definitely not the only one blushing, even if it's just a little harder to tell with him. The bit of fidgeting is a giveaway, plus the slight pitch from his normal voice.]

Oh, no! Seriously. Now I'm gonna feel bad if you don't slap me, I was probably just hearing what I wanted to hear!
transfusionem: (pic#12951324)

[personal profile] transfusionem 2020-07-03 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not gonna slap you!

[That would be rude!!]

It's fine, it's fine, I can see why you'd think that...

[It's fine!!]

Nothing wrong with that!
aggroculture: (58)

[personal profile] aggroculture 2020-07-03 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[It's not fine!!!]

I-I mean, yeah, there's nothing wrong with that, nothing wrong with that at all if that was what you meant, it'd be very flatting, and we'd, uh, both be consenting adults, right, so there'd be nothing to be ashamed of! All for letting women do what they want, it's their bodies!

[they're both disaster idiots]
transfusionem: (pic#12951317)

[personal profile] transfusionem 2020-07-03 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[Why does this happen to her.]

Right! Right. Yeah. But- Yeah. Haha!

[Help,]

Oh, wow, uh, well, I'm sorry if I gave you the wrong idea! Just. You know. Yeah! Words.
aggroculture: (61)

[personal profile] aggroculture 2020-07-03 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[This is so...awkward... He fights the urge to hide his face in his hands, even if it leaves him not having any idea what to do with his hands at all.]

Let's, um. Let's just delete the last minute or so from existence, how does that sound...?
transfusionem: (Default)

[personal profile] transfusionem 2020-07-03 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds great! Really great.

[Please... Have mercy...]

Just. Gone. Forever.
aggroculture: (53)

[personal profile] aggroculture 2020-07-03 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Forever! Blip-blip-blip, rewind, there we go, done and gone.

[Which...was also an incredibly awkward and dorky thing to say, especially when followed by a weak laugh as it is, but he's determined to move on, now! He nervously runs his hand through his hair and looks off.]

Um, so... Nice weather we're having, huh?
transfusionem: (pic#12951293)

[personal profile] transfusionem 2020-07-04 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[He's cute, at least.]

Super perfect. [Too perfect.] Hardly a cloud in the sky.
aggroculture: (7)

[personal profile] aggroculture 2020-07-07 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
[is he cute, or does adelaide just have bad taste? I already know the answer.]

Mm... Good for the plants, bad for the sunburn... You think they got any sunscreen? Nook fucking has fur.
