Week 1
Weather: Clear skies all week!
- Arrival
At 9AM Monday morning, Tom Nook will take his place at the microphone once more. He has several bins in front of him that are filled with tools. Shovels, fishing rods, bug nets, watering cans, and axes. They look...well. Functional, but flimsy. Next to the tool bins are foldable carts that you can wheel around, presumably for the tools, and some Nook Inc. knapsacks. And now that the sun is out, you can see all of the red, yellow, and white cosmos growing about the island alongside all of the weeds.
Now. Whether you’re around or not, he’s going to start his announcements when a sizable group is present.
“Good morning, everyone! Now, I know yesterday was quite a rough start for all of us, but while we’re here, let’s make the most of our stay, hm? We have a few things to go over today.” He gives everyone his best smile (though he isn’t expecting much in return) and continues: “I know a lot of you must be hungry; overnight, we had another plane fly over seasoning, milk, eggs, and vegetables for us! Soon, we’ll have more ingredients; for now, if you need anything, the food we have on-hand can be found inside of the fridge in my tent.”
Well, that’s one thing taken care of, at least. It’s not much, but it’s better than nothing.
“Next, the tools! These are what you have to start with, and, well, they aren’t exactly the most durable...but they will last for a little while. I estimate 20 uses each -- but when they break, never fear, for we have DIY Recipe cards for you to use in order to craft these tools again! I’ve included the DIY cards for your tools inside of your knapsacks; they give you the ingredients necessary to craft different things. You’re free to use the workbench in my tent to craft your new tools after they break. My best advice is to lay the materials out in the general formation of what you’re crafting and let the workbench do the rest.”
If you reach inside of your knapsack, you’ll find the cards in there...along with a cellular device of some sort. “Ah, yes,” Tom Nook says, “those are your Nook Phones. So far, you’re only able to send mass texts to everyone and receive text and call alerts from myself. Feel free to play around with those as much as you’d like, they’re solar-powered; just try not to break them, yes?”
And then, finally… “Lastly, I would like to talk about currency. I’ll provide you our currency -- bells -- and I will buy anything from you! Weeds, fish, bugs...anything! I have an ATM set up in my tent for you to easily deposit and withdraw your bells if you wish, yes, yes. If you’re wondering what you’ll be using those for...we’ll be having some special features for you starting next week! … If we can’t send you back home by then, that is.”
He looks nervous at that last part, but doesn’t mention anything beyond that regarding your situation. Tom Nook smiles at you and closes out the announcements; you now have several things you can do this week.
Possible Objectives
1. Gather natural resources to sell to Tom Nook and make some money! Bugs and fish list can be found here.
2. Use those resources to craft a variety of different things -- DIY Recipes will speed things up and make them more refined, but you're free to do your own variant of crafting, too!
3. Do some other exploration; the island section of the setting provides you with possible ways to get more resources (bottles, x-marks, balloons, etc.). Shaking trees and hitting rocks are also ways to get special items as well! If you are going to do these methods of exploration, please write “MODS” in your subject header and ping us on Plurk or Discord so we can reward you appropriately! All we ask is that you try not to go too overboard with this method of exploration (ten times a week per person, as an exaggerated example); use your best judgment!
As far as resource gathering + currency goes, we won't be keeping track of those so feel free to handwave as much as you'd like; as long as it's within reason (i.e. a character getting 1 million bells by the end of this week is...a little extreme).
Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday / Friday
(OOC: Welcome to your Week 1 Log! We apologize for the info dump; Mod Coco who plays Tom Nook has work and will not be able to NPC throughout the week, so we wanted to get the information to you folks as soon as possible. That being said, our OOC Questions top level is available for you to use!
And last but not least, we have a Weekly Plotting Post for you all to use. We aren't sure how these will shake out, but we thought we should give them a try anyway.
As always, if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to let us know! Have fun!)

Why would I do that?
[ Did Dokja forget about the 800 slights he has made against Joonghyuk back at home? His tail lashes to one side, a bit annoyed that his companion would assume he would cook for them.
Yes, of course he is, but damn. Who do you think you are? Now he doesn't want to because Dokja was quick on it. No, don't wag your tail, Kim Dokja you fool. ]
no subject
What do you mean why? Do you intend on eating it all by yourself? Food is always better with company.
[ 1865 slights sounds like a better amount. But, Joonghyuk actually seems really serious about that. ..He.. Would he really stay true to his words? Without realizing it, both ears and tail droop. Yes, he's disappointed. Ahh... he got stupidly hungry at the thought too. ]

Taste doesn't change with or without company.
[ That doesn't mean he disagrees with what Dokja said. It feels better to eat with people, just. Food tasting better is an illusion. It is the same. ]
You can have the scraps.
[ Does this seem familiar... ]
no subject
He grows quieter when he thinks of the plans to eat with the rest of the company. How he wants to make sure on his promises to the children. His tail lashes at the mention of scraps, squinting at the man beside him. ]
A person can't live on apples, much less fruit for long you know.
[ Familiar or not, don't let him starve. ]
no subject
He decides not to give that statement a quip since he knows a balanced diet is important. Especially when you're as fragile-looking as Dokja right now. When they reach the place where they leave their gathered items, Joonghyuk starts cooking with the cooking tools around. Good thing there's already a fire.
Quickly, he cooks an omelette with veggies in it, then a second one. This second one is a lot bigger.
This is yours. He gives it to Dokja. Yes, still shirtless. ]

A cheek settles in his palm as he watches, gaze distant and head full of thoughts. He can feel exhaustion tugging at his body and even feels the urge to probably curl up and sleep. He doesn't, and merely dazes off.
He almost doesn't realize that there is food before him until it hits him and he blinks to the platter held out in front of him. ..Oh. Quietly he takes it, staring at it and can feel his mouth watering pretty bad. It smells heavenly. ] Thanks.
[ When he looks back at him, he sure gets a window full of chest. His lips twitch. ] Shouldn't you put on a shirt already? [ how can he eat his omelette with such a muscular chest right in his face??? ]
no subject
Did you not sleep well?
no subject
Hm? [ In mid-chew does he glance over, seeing that sharp gaze not leaving him and looks off to the side. Dokja swallows after as a hand goes to rub the back of his neck with a tilt of his head and a flick of an ear. ] ..Not really. I was doing a lot of thinking and before I realized it it was morning.
no subject
You should take a nap.
no subject
[ Basically "no." He'll continue helping himself to the omelette, finding his stomach filled with gratitude for such a delicious meal. ]
no subject
You're not the only one working.
[ So Dokja can take! A Break! Let him bore into his head with this intense glower. ]
no subject
[ Of course he mostly means everybody else. Ugh, he can feel that intense glare burning into him. He quickly finishes his meal the longer it goes on, setting the dishes aside and getting up.]
Right, I should check on the tent I was suppose to stay at, I heard I had some mail today.
[ And, yeah, he's gonna quickly scurry on and off. Thank you for the meal, Yoo Joonghyuk but looks like you might get busy with that nice smell attracting people? ]
no subject
While he usually would ditch and not answer, they're also blocking the way. ]
