Weather: Clear skies all week!

Arrival

At 9AM Monday morning, Tom Nook will take his place at the microphone once more. He has several bins in front of him that are filled with tools. Shovels, fishing rods, bug nets, watering cans, and axes. They look...well. Functional, but flimsy. Next to the tool bins are foldable carts that you can wheel around, presumably for the tools, and some Nook Inc. knapsacks. And now that the sun is out, you can see all of the red, yellow, and white cosmos growing about the island alongside all of the weeds.

Now. Whether you’re around or not, he’s going to start his announcements when a sizable group is present.

“Good morning, everyone! Now, I know yesterday was quite a rough start for all of us, but while we’re here, let’s make the most of our stay, hm? We have a few things to go over today.” He gives everyone his best smile (though he isn’t expecting much in return) and continues: “I know a lot of you must be hungry; overnight, we had another plane fly over seasoning, milk, eggs, and vegetables for us! Soon, we’ll have more ingredients; for now, if you need anything, the food we have on-hand can be found inside of the fridge in my tent.”

Well, that’s one thing taken care of, at least. It’s not much, but it’s better than nothing.

“Next, the tools! These are what you have to start with, and, well, they aren’t exactly the most durable...but they will last for a little while. I estimate 20 uses each -- but when they break, never fear, for we have DIY Recipe cards for you to use in order to craft these tools again! I’ve included the DIY cards for your tools inside of your knapsacks; they give you the ingredients necessary to craft different things. You’re free to use the workbench in my tent to craft your new tools after they break. My best advice is to lay the materials out in the general formation of what you’re crafting and let the workbench do the rest.”

If you reach inside of your knapsack, you’ll find the cards in there...along with a cellular device of some sort. “Ah, yes,” Tom Nook says, “those are your Nook Phones. So far, you’re only able to send mass texts to everyone and receive text and call alerts from myself. Feel free to play around with those as much as you’d like, they’re solar-powered; just try not to break them, yes?”

And then, finally… “Lastly, I would like to talk about currency. I’ll provide you our currency -- bells -- and I will buy anything from you! Weeds, fish, bugs...anything! I have an ATM set up in my tent for you to easily deposit and withdraw your bells if you wish, yes, yes. If you’re wondering what you’ll be using those for...we’ll be having some special features for you starting next week! … If we can’t send you back home by then, that is.”

He looks nervous at that last part, but doesn’t mention anything beyond that regarding your situation. Tom Nook smiles at you and closes out the announcements; you now have several things you can do this week.



Possible Objectives

1. Gather natural resources to sell to Tom Nook and make some money! Bugs and fish list can be found here.
2. Use those resources to craft a variety of different things -- DIY Recipes will speed things up and make them more refined, but you're free to do your own variant of crafting, too!
3. Do some other exploration; the island section of the setting provides you with possible ways to get more resources (bottles, x-marks, balloons, etc.). Shaking trees and hitting rocks are also ways to get special items as well! If you are going to do these methods of exploration, please write “MODS” in your subject header and ping us on Plurk or Discord so we can reward you appropriately! All we ask is that you try not to go too overboard with this method of exploration (ten times a week per person, as an exaggerated example); use your best judgment!

As far as resource gathering + currency goes, we won't be keeping track of those so feel free to handwave as much as you'd like; as long as it's within reason (i.e. a character getting 1 million bells by the end of this week is...a little extreme).

As for my DIYs, I have wooden-block stereo, cardboard bed, wooden-block bookshelf, log stakes, hay bed, mini DIY workbench. I don't know where I would even put some of these.

Those are some really interesting items. Never heard of a wooden-block stereo before. Hmm. Are you worried about running out space in your tent?

Neither have I and I kind of want to see what it'll look like. But I am worried about space.... I got a bunk bed so it's going to be a tight fit! ＼(º □ º l|l)/

It's nothing too special but I can send you a picture. Seems a bit hot for the summer but I thought it might be useful to hold onto on the off chance it gets chilly.

Yeah the bunk bed would totally take up a lot of space. (・_・ヾ It would be nice if we had something like a community center? Where we can leave our extra furniture and make it another area were we can gather together and chill.

I wish but not exactly. [ He won't deny that he's a little embarrassed to be caught, he's so elated that it didn't matter too much. ] I just got complimented by one of the cutest girls ever!

[ The way Sengoku is acting is cute. Laurent wonders if the boy will actually have a gigantic crush on Kaede eventually, since he thinks there's a difference between complimenting a cute girl and genuinely liking her romantically.

But his type? Hm... ]

I enjoy a mix of dishonesty, harmless banter, a little bit of teasing, and a good heart.

That is very true! Didn't think about it saving space like that but it does clear up room.
Yeah! I bet we could as well. If we're able to, I think it would be a nice way for people to get together outside of their tents and doing tasks.

Yes! It would be a great place to take a break from fishing or chopping wood. It's all really hard work. Hopefully we can get started on it soon!

Yeah! You're right. Everyone's been working so hard. ... Especially you Akamatsu-san! You definitely seem like a really diligent person.

I'm really not that diligent, I promise! I just don't have a piano here to distract me. I just learned how to fish a couple of days ago!!

I would love to get started on something like that, though. I bet we'll continue to get more things in the future that we can put into a space like that.

I think that's one thing I don't believe you on. www ... The diligent part, I mean. Didn't know you played the piano, though! How long have you done it?

Yeah! With the two of us teaming up, we can definitely make it a reality. If you don't use all the stuff for your tent, it sounds like great furniture to get started.

So do I! I think we'll be using the bunk bed at least, but I could probably use some of the recipes. Maybe we'll get more things delivered soon.
