Week 1
Weather: Clear skies all week!
- Arrival
At 9AM Monday morning, Tom Nook will take his place at the microphone once more. He has several bins in front of him that are filled with tools. Shovels, fishing rods, bug nets, watering cans, and axes. They look...well. Functional, but flimsy. Next to the tool bins are foldable carts that you can wheel around, presumably for the tools, and some Nook Inc. knapsacks. And now that the sun is out, you can see all of the red, yellow, and white cosmos growing about the island alongside all of the weeds.
Now. Whether you’re around or not, he’s going to start his announcements when a sizable group is present.
“Good morning, everyone! Now, I know yesterday was quite a rough start for all of us, but while we’re here, let’s make the most of our stay, hm? We have a few things to go over today.” He gives everyone his best smile (though he isn’t expecting much in return) and continues: “I know a lot of you must be hungry; overnight, we had another plane fly over seasoning, milk, eggs, and vegetables for us! Soon, we’ll have more ingredients; for now, if you need anything, the food we have on-hand can be found inside of the fridge in my tent.”
Well, that’s one thing taken care of, at least. It’s not much, but it’s better than nothing.
“Next, the tools! These are what you have to start with, and, well, they aren’t exactly the most durable...but they will last for a little while. I estimate 20 uses each -- but when they break, never fear, for we have DIY Recipe cards for you to use in order to craft these tools again! I’ve included the DIY cards for your tools inside of your knapsacks; they give you the ingredients necessary to craft different things. You’re free to use the workbench in my tent to craft your new tools after they break. My best advice is to lay the materials out in the general formation of what you’re crafting and let the workbench do the rest.”
If you reach inside of your knapsack, you’ll find the cards in there...along with a cellular device of some sort. “Ah, yes,” Tom Nook says, “those are your Nook Phones. So far, you’re only able to send mass texts to everyone and receive text and call alerts from myself. Feel free to play around with those as much as you’d like, they’re solar-powered; just try not to break them, yes?”
And then, finally… “Lastly, I would like to talk about currency. I’ll provide you our currency -- bells -- and I will buy anything from you! Weeds, fish, bugs...anything! I have an ATM set up in my tent for you to easily deposit and withdraw your bells if you wish, yes, yes. If you’re wondering what you’ll be using those for...we’ll be having some special features for you starting next week! … If we can’t send you back home by then, that is.”
He looks nervous at that last part, but doesn’t mention anything beyond that regarding your situation. Tom Nook smiles at you and closes out the announcements; you now have several things you can do this week.
Possible Objectives
1. Gather natural resources to sell to Tom Nook and make some money! Bugs and fish list can be found here.
2. Use those resources to craft a variety of different things -- DIY Recipes will speed things up and make them more refined, but you're free to do your own variant of crafting, too!
3. Do some other exploration; the island section of the setting provides you with possible ways to get more resources (bottles, x-marks, balloons, etc.). Shaking trees and hitting rocks are also ways to get special items as well! If you are going to do these methods of exploration, please write “MODS” in your subject header and ping us on Plurk or Discord so we can reward you appropriately! All we ask is that you try not to go too overboard with this method of exploration (ten times a week per person, as an exaggerated example); use your best judgment!
As far as resource gathering + currency goes, we won't be keeping track of those so feel free to handwave as much as you'd like; as long as it's within reason (i.e. a character getting 1 million bells by the end of this week is...a little extreme).

(OOC: Welcome to your Week 1 Log! We apologize for the info dump; Mod Coco who plays Tom Nook has work and will not be able to NPC throughout the week, so we wanted to get the information to you folks as soon as possible. That being said, our OOC Questions top level is available for you to use!

[ Since he heard someone had the DIY and everything. If he supplied them materials, then it should be a problem whether or not that person is wary of him or not. ]
The stock is cooking back at my tent and the fish have been gutted already. I can't start on the dessert because sugar and apples cook fast.

[ And here he thought Joonghyuk was only good for being a bodyguard boyfriend.And being a really good chef, but there's something about this sort of efficiency that seems unsettling... somehow? Laurent can't pinpoint what it is. He'll think on it later. ]

Iron nuggets seem a bit harder to come by.. [ He seems to stop to think. Maybe he can offer to buy them from others. ] I can at least make a frying pan with the two iron nuggets you have.

Then you can have them. The only DIY I received that's different is ironwood kitchenette, but it requires a cutting board and an ironwood dresser.
[ He scowls a bit, ears pinned back and everything. ]

I'll have to hold off on making a workbench for easier crafting in our tent until we get our hands on more but it's fine. [ That's conveniences' sake and Joonghyuk seems to prefer the frying pan. He holds his hand out expectantly for the iron nuggets. ] I can also make a Brick Oven if I get my hands on a few more clay.
..You need other furniture to make it? I.. guess it makes sense but. [ Sounds like a hassle? ]

Alright, if you don't luck out with any I can always ask on the network. The whale shark I sold off roped in a good amount of bells. [ 13k to be exact. He has bank already- unsurprisingly. ]

[ It takes a few minutes- the time to get to the Residential services tent and back, but he holds up the frying pan. ] Ta-da! Is there something you want to tell me, Yoo Joonghyuk? Something like how, "the Demon King of Salvation is actually a good modifier and I was wrong"?

[ Rude... He sighs as the pan is taken out of his hands, he starts to check his pockets afterwards. ]
I got some more clothing items from my mail but I'm wondering if it'll be better to just sell them off. [ For example, he puts these dark brown wooden glasses on. He squints for a moment before looking back to Joonghyuk. ] Is the kitchenette the only thing worth mentioning?

[ Is that enough gratitude? Don't say he has never done anything for you. Joonghyuk takes the pan and then puts it into his own pocket. The glasses has him tilting his head. ]
I got some clothes I would never wear. [ Hmm. ] Glasses, a stuffed animal, and a rocking chair DIY.
[ But Joonghyuk only thinks the kitchenette matters. However, he does pull out the baby panda and give it to Dokja. Yours now since you handle kids so well (not that there are any on the island). ]

I see.. [ He takes off the glasses and puts them away, if because he started to feel self-conscious with Joonghyuk looking at him? Before suddenly there's a stuffed baby panda in his arms. ... ... Huh? ]
