Another Week Goes By

Monday morning comes along. It’s a quiet morning, which is much-needed after such a long island adventure. To anyone walking around the island, you’ll notice two things:

The airport is open, but the seaplane is gone.
Also, there’s a familiar face jogging around the perimeter of the housing portion of the island. That familiar face happens to be none other than the ninja rabbit himself, Snake! Looks like he’s already spending his first day on the island getting in shape!

When Tom Nook calls you all over for morning announcements, he looks pleased with himself. Even Snake comes over to join those who gather to listen to the tanuki. “Good morning, everyone! Let’s all give a warm welcome to our new friend, Snake!”

Cue applause. … Hopefully there is some applause, anyway. Snake grins and just looks very happy to be here.

“Next, I’m pleased to announce that the postal service is now open, since Orville is here to manage mail! You’re able to send individual messages to your fellow residents with gifts attached if you'd like, all handwritten if you’d like, yes. Alternatively, you can redeem what are called Nook Miles for items now -- they’re essentially a rewards system, and you can track your rewards on the Nook Miles app on your phone.”

“Essentially, the app will automatically award you for every contribution you add to the island, whether it be decorating your house, harvesting fruit, pulling weeds -- you name it! You can then turn in those Nook Miles at the airport, and that’s how we’ll be delivering items to you in the mail from now on.”

That’ll have the mail system make more sense, at least! Now it’s all on you if you decide to end up with 40 items in the mail all at once.

“The last announcement I have to make is that we’re going to make a second housing plot! The first one was a success, what with Snake moving in, and I’m grateful for Wilbur and Orville’s efforts in helping us build our island. So...with that, I need the following items for the next house:

1 Ironwood Table
2 Ironwood Dressers
1 Ironwood Clock
2 Ironwood Chairs

And just like last week, if nobody on the island has the DIY for these, I will send over the DIYs to your apps.”

He pauses, and then he looks a little...sheepish at this next announcement. “Now, I’m aware that some of you have been building bridges — and now that you all have vaulting poles and ladders, there are untouched parts of the island for you to explore. I’d like to ask you all to consider creating areas outside, such as an exercise area, perhaps even a park of sorts — though we will have someone coming in soon who may need some space.

Finally, this is just a request -- if you have any fossils, bugs, or fish, do turn them in to Blathers! He's very close to hitting his goal before we can open up a museum, so keep that in mind.”

He raises his hand, as if to end the morning announcements. “That’s all for today!”





Possible Objectives

1. Help Tom Nook prepare a housing plot for the second villager house!
2. Get Nook Miles to redeem items at the post office at the airport.
3. Help Blathers by catching and donating specimens.
4. Decorate and explore the untouched part of the island (see locations page; it’s the left hand area)

NOTE: Nook Miles are not a new mechanic and are simply an IC way to justify the rewards system, now! You don't need to keep track of points; just assume the threads you turn in are characters redeeming points for items.

Hello, darlings! Two things for you all today.

1. If anyone is sick of lugging around a bunch of flimsy fishing rods because they break so easily, I have a recipe for making sturdier ones! Just bring your flimsy rods to be and I'll make them better! Trust me when I say that they're a game changer!

2. Since Tommy-dear has encouraged us to make some recreational areas for the island, I was wondering what you all think of having a little outdoor performance theater! It's been my dream to get one of these up and running back home, so I have ideas about its construction already in mind. Would that be something you all could see yourselves getting use out of?

Hey, everyone. Leblanc II has been a success so far, so I've been thinking about expanding a bit, especially since we've got more of the island to work with. Figured it'd be fun to make it into more of an outdoor cafe than a stall outside my house, especially since I'm going to be serving some food soon too.

I guess what I'm asking is if anyone wants to help me build something in a new area. It doesn't have to be much. I can make stalls, a brick oven, a sink... I've got, uh, one chair but I can make benches and sofas. Don't really have anything in the way of tables, though, but I should be able to make a bar area from the stalls. Might be nice to have a table or two of some kind, though.

Even just some construction help would be pretty nice, too, or any donated items you'd want to see at a cafe.

I'll hopefully have it up and running by week's end.

I can make a stereo and a bookshelf though! Maybe it would be nice to have a bookshelf?

[It's the start of a new week, which means...! Well, apparently it means there's new things to be done, like making more furniture for another house and finding things to make of their new island home.

Adelaide decides to scope out the cliffs, scampering up on her ladder and enjoying the view. She takes a moment to rest by the waterfall, just kind of... Enjoying the peace and quiet. Which isn't to say she wants to be alone! This island is just so different from where she's from, it's kind of nice to bask in the scenery.

She'll also take a moment to pop and balloons she sees, to try to get some more goodies.

And then once night falls, she encounters a terrible fate...! Because she's not lucky enough to avoid the scorpion that sets eyes on her. She doesn't quite manage to net it, so she keels over same as everyone else who's been so unfortunate.]

[ Laurent is also taking his time to look around the cliffs because of the ladder he recently acquired. He finds Adelaide and quietly walks up to where she is. ]

[It's hard to still keep up the hard attitude when his cynicism is met with more nature and odd activities, and a...ninja...bunny? But even if he's been enjoying the air conditioner and whirlpool bath he repurposed into a hot tub -- both courtesy of Minato -- there are still times he desperately needs to get away to nature. The waterfall...is still full of nature, where the rest of the island is becoming less and less. He sets his ladder against the cliff to climb up when he hears a popping sound and looks up -- ]

Oh, fuck! [Theo lunges out, arms outstretched to catch the falling present before it falls into the water, snagging it just in time...to fall into the water himself. Some spitting and swearing later, he drags himself back onto land, box first.] Hey! Got it!

[Whoever it is, they owe him, even if he just acted on instinct and this was sure to be something stupid. He gives it an experimental shake next to his ear. Hm.]

[Sonico had been wondering, picking up some weeds, when she saw Adelaide in the waterfall! She walks over to her, watching the waterfall.]
