Week 3 Log

WEEK 3 LOG
Weather: Sunny and warm AM, cool PM until Friday. Friday - cloudy AM, rainy PM

    Another Week Goes By

Monday morning comes along. It’s a quiet morning, which is much-needed after such a long island adventure. To anyone walking around the island, you’ll notice two things:

The airport is open, but the seaplane is gone.
Also, there’s a familiar face jogging around the perimeter of the housing portion of the island. That familiar face happens to be none other than the ninja rabbit himself, Snake! Looks like he’s already spending his first day on the island getting in shape!

When Tom Nook calls you all over for morning announcements, he looks pleased with himself. Even Snake comes over to join those who gather to listen to the tanuki. “Good morning, everyone! Let’s all give a warm welcome to our new friend, Snake!”

Cue applause. … Hopefully there is some applause, anyway. Snake grins and just looks very happy to be here.

“Next, I’m pleased to announce that the postal service is now open, since Orville is here to manage mail! You’re able to send individual messages to your fellow residents with gifts attached if you'd like, all handwritten if you’d like, yes. Alternatively, you can redeem what are called Nook Miles for items now -- they’re essentially a rewards system, and you can track your rewards on the Nook Miles app on your phone.”

“Essentially, the app will automatically award you for every contribution you add to the island, whether it be decorating your house, harvesting fruit, pulling weeds -- you name it! You can then turn in those Nook Miles at the airport, and that’s how we’ll be delivering items to you in the mail from now on.”

That’ll have the mail system make more sense, at least! Now it’s all on you if you decide to end up with 40 items in the mail all at once.

“The last announcement I have to make is that we’re going to make a second housing plot! The first one was a success, what with Snake moving in, and I’m grateful for Wilbur and Orville’s efforts in helping us build our island. So...with that, I need the following items for the next house:

    1 Ironwood Table
    2 Ironwood Dressers
    1 Ironwood Clock
    2 Ironwood Chairs

And just like last week, if nobody on the island has the DIY for these, I will send over the DIYs to your apps.”

He pauses, and then he looks a little...sheepish at this next announcement. “Now, I’m aware that some of you have been building bridges — and now that you all have vaulting poles and ladders, there are untouched parts of the island for you to explore. I’d like to ask you all to consider creating areas outside, such as an exercise area, perhaps even a park of sorts — though we will have someone coming in soon who may need some space.

Finally, this is just a request -- if you have any fossils, bugs, or fish, do turn them in to Blathers! He's very close to hitting his goal before we can open up a museum, so keep that in mind.”

He raises his hand, as if to end the morning announcements. “That’s all for today!”

    Possible Objectives

    1. Help Tom Nook prepare a housing plot for the second villager house!
    2. Get Nook Miles to redeem items at the post office at the airport.
    3. Help Blathers by catching and donating specimens.
    4. Decorate and explore the untouched part of the island (see locations page; it’s the left hand area)

NOTE: Nook Miles are not a new mechanic and are simply an IC way to justify the rewards system, now! You don't need to keep track of points; just assume the threads you turn in are characters redeeming points for items.

    Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday / Friday

(OOC: Welcome to Week 3! Please direct all questions to the FAQ under the Week 3 top level.

Here's this week's Weekly Plotting Post for you all to use!

As always, if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to let us know! Have fun!)

Hey, everyone. Leblanc II has been a success so far, so I've been thinking about expanding a bit, especially since we've got more of the island to work with. Figured it'd be fun to make it into more of an outdoor cafe than a stall outside my house, especially since I'm going to be serving some food soon too.

I guess what I'm asking is if anyone wants to help me build something in a new area. It doesn't have to be much. I can make stalls, a brick oven, a sink... I've got, uh, one chair but I can make benches and sofas. Don't really have anything in the way of tables, though, but I should be able to make a bar area from the stalls. Might be nice to have a table or two of some kind, though.

Even just some construction help would be pretty nice, too, or any donated items you'd want to see at a cafe.

I'll hopefully have it up and running by week's end.

I can make a stereo, diner counter chair, a stool, a frying pan, I have flooring we haven't done anything with, I can make a fountain....

any of that sound good?

[personal profile] jokersonyou 2020-07-17 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
Lots of that sound great! A stereo could be nice for music, I could definitely use diner counter chairs and possibly stools as well, and a frying pan would help a ton. I've been having to use my campfire cookware pot as double duty.

I'll get that stuff to you once you've got a location then. if I get anything else I'll let you know?

Sounds great to me. It'll be within the next few days, so I'll keep you posted.

Ironwood Kitchenette
Log Dining Table
Log Round Table
Log Chair

If any of these are useful, let me know.
I'll give you the DIY.
You need to make them yourself.
jokersonyou: (28)

[personal profile] jokersonyou 2020-07-17 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
I can make the kitchenette, but the rest of those sound exactly what I need. Just the DIYs would be enough.

[personal profile] compendiem 2020-07-17 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
Consider them yours.
I'll send them over.
Anything else you need, just ask.
Got an investment in this cafe, after all.

Will keep in mind. Thanks, Minato. Seriously.

i don't think i have any good DIYs for this, but i can just assist in general.

btw, only a teensy bit related, but if you need a bigger menu for oven-related stuff, let me know!
jokersonyou: (Default)

[personal profile] jokersonyou 2020-07-17 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
I think I'm getting more DIYs, so I could use some help building and getting everything set up.

A bigger menu does sound good! I'm going to start with just curry this weekend, but it'd be nice to expand. I'd probably need more help running the place if so, though.

y'know i can 100% help with cooking if you ever need the extra pair of hands! and feet!
jokersonyou: (36)

[personal profile] jokersonyou 2020-07-19 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
I'll take you up on that as long as you promise not to use your feet for meal prep.

Looks like you have various offers so far, and I can still offer you the apple chairs if you're still interested.
jokersonyou: (47)

[personal profile] jokersonyou 2020-07-17 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Apple chairs would be great. I think they'll definitely lend a very unique touch.

[personal profile] conceptualize 2020-07-17 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
It would give it a family-friendly vibe too, wouldn't it?

Is there anything else you were thinking about that you need?
jokersonyou: (Default)

[personal profile] jokersonyou 2020-07-19 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Definitely. And it's kind of this island's theme, anyway, with all the apple trees around.

Not that I can think of, but I'll shoot out another message if something comes to mind. Thanks, man.

All I can offer for furniture is a log stool. (︶︹︺)

I can make a stereo and a bookshelf though! Maybe it would be nice to have a bookshelf?

I also don't mind helping you arrange everything.
jokersonyou: (65)

[personal profile] jokersonyou 2020-07-17 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Huh, you're right, a bookshelf would actually be great. I've seen cafes with them before. And help arranging things is always a plus! I'll let you know exactly when I start.

Great! I'm excited to have a place like that to hang out.

I wonder if we can find magazines and different kinds of books. Maybe someone has gotten something by now.

You've already got someone offering it, but I've got a recipe for a Log Round Table. And a protein shaker bottle.

[People use the later in cafe's... right?]
jokersonyou: (35)

[personal profile] jokersonyou 2020-07-17 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
I'll let you know if the other recipe doesn't work out. And...well, I mean, I guess a protein shaker bottle couldn't hurt? You never know what someone wants to order.

I don't have a lot of useful DIY recipes honestly.
But I do have a bunch of free furniture and decorations.
Help yourself! I can bring them over too.
