The Finale is Near

Days have passed since you first wound up with those strange mechanical bits in the mail. While all of you have found your respective partners, there’s still the question of “What do we do now?” in regards to the combined pieces. There are a few potential courses of action with the knowledge you have of how magic works here on the island, but the answer may or may not be what you’d expect.

Regardless, things seem to be coming close to wrapping up. For those of you who want it...maybe it’s finally time to return home. For those of you who want to stay, hopefully there's a way to do so. The only way to find the answers to these two things, however, is to start figuring things out.

[She gets up and points to it. It's a two-foot iron "V" shape currently on the sand.]

I wonder what they all make.

[ Laurent looks at the direction where Serval points, staring at the... thing. ]

I think it'll make a plane of some sort.

[ Laurent pulls out his own, which resembles a wing of an airplane. ]

If you have the star-shaped rocks, you should keep it with you. It might be fuel for it. I think... this part might be the nose of the plane?

Yeah, I got one of those! I guess this must be a special plane, then.

Let me get a closer look at it.

[ Even though Laurent knows that the nose of a plane and the wing shouldn't go together, he takes out a mini DIY workbench out of his pocket, and puts the two pieces on top of it, and attempts to fit them together anyway. Maybe something will happen? ]

[ It was a valiant attempt at forming something, Laurent, but nothing happens. ]

Aww. Maybe we need them all.

Alright. Guess we'll have to round up everyone and do this properly. Here's your piece, Serval.

[ He puts the workbench back into his pocket and gives the piece back to Serval while taking his own into his pocket. ]

If you find out something good, send a text like you did before, okay?

[But now everyone's coming down the beach anyway, so we can all get in on the building action further down the post.]

Hey. Can I give a shot at seeing if my corner piece attaches at all to your wing? I don't know if they'll go together without a recipe, but it's worth a shot. The corner pieces don't seem to go together, though they sparkled a bit.

[ Oh, hey. Everyone's here.

Laurent blinks when Ren asks him that, so he gets out his mini DIY workbench again. ]

I tried connecting Serval's piece with mine, and nothing happened. I'm not that knowledgeable in airplane parts, but no harm in trying it out.

[ Laurent puts the plane wing on the workbench. Ren can put his piece there and then maybe see magic happen? ]

[Alrighty then. He places his V-shaped piece against it. Let's see...]

[ Nope, nothing still.

One thing to remember is that there was stardust present when Ren, Kaede and Serval had connected their pieces earlier. That's more of a reaction than what you're getting here...! ]

Interesting... So I don't think they're meant to go together. Not even the little stardust things I got with the other corner piece. Which means that the corner pieces must go together, but they need more than just being shoved together. A recipe, then.

Hm, nothing again. Maybe this one is a bust? Though, I don't know if you know about this, but...

[ Laurent takes off the wing from the workbench and gets out a star rock and taps on it. ]

That... Wait. That reaction...

[Ren thinks it over, trying to come up with another possibility.]

My current theory was a recipe, but the way those stardust pieces react, what if maybe they act like glue to put the pieces together?

[ Laurent decides to test Ren's theory by putting them closed together and tapping them with the star rock. ]

[ It doesn't seem like these pieces are meant to go together, as they don't stick even with the star fragment. However, the static effect happens again with both pieces. Seems like the fragment is related somehow, at least to the pieces individually, but the wing and the corner piece do not stick together. ]

The piece definitely has something to do with it. Alright. I'm going to get one of my own fragments and try it again but with Serval's corner piece. Those had a reaction just by themselves when pressed together. So combined with another reaction given by the fragment...

Maybe we should just bring them all together and throw star rocks at it at the same time.

[ This is too chaotic for Laurent's liking... ]
