Mystery Mail

With the event coming to a close, you may be thinking, “What now?” It seemed like Tom Nook really wanted you all to host KK Slider for the sake of going home, but you’re still here. You’re still on Isle Sonrisa. Although...the event did bring you Gulliver, and that in turn brought you those mysterious parts and messages you got in the mail this morning. Could this be a step closer to getting back home? Maybe so, but there’s only one way to find out.

Before you begin, though, Tom Nook has a few words to say for his announcements.

“Everyone, thank you so much for your hard work these past few weeks. We were able to bring KK Slider over and in turn, we’ve been receiving dozens of applications for new residents! Er, granted, I can only take so many of them until we get all of you home -- well, those of you who expressed wanting to go home, anyhow -- so I’ll be busy this upcoming week. Wilbur, Orville and I have been trying to reach out to people to try to help you find your way home, and our friend Gulliver mentioned he sent parts over to you all, yes? Do let me know how that goes! Ah, and there’s one other thing I need to take care of myself, so if you need me, I’ll be in my tent for the rest of the week.”

He doesn’t specify what that specific thing is, though. Ah, well. That seems to be the end of his announcements: Short and to the point. He seems a little stressed and busy what with the application intake, so perhaps your time is better spent figuring out the mystery behind what you received in the mail.

Your next steps will be important, after all. The end is near; how will you get there?

[ On Wednesday, everyone who helped Snake find his lost belongings (or gifted him something) will receive a thank you letter in the mail, as well as a photo of Snake himself! He makes sure to talk about his biceps and his workout routine in each individual letter, but he's grateful nevertheless. ]

For everyone who managed to figure out what to do those parts from the mail: When you joined your part with your partner's, did you wind up with a different, bigger piece?

[ When you're someone who's never been on a date before with your significant other, you're at a loss despite consuming lots of media that would inspire you. Laurent thought chilling inside a house with a Netflix movie marathon would have been great, but there's nothing like that here, despite his big flat screen TV.

And so, Laurent sent a letter addressed to Adelaide (by sliding it under her house door instead of the actual mail system, because that's what he does something), asking her out on a date and to meet him where she saw him at the beach where they kissed under the shooting stars.

Though... Laurent won't be exactly at the beach, but close enough. He's sitting on a thick tree branch, waiting for her to come. He's not nervous and idly lightly kicking his feet in the air. ]

[When Adelaide gets the letter, she has to take a moment to stop feeling like an especially flustered school girl. It's a date! Just a date. Sure, Adelaide's never had any sort of relationship that could be considered traditional and hasn't ever really gone on a "date", but that doesn't mean she should be getting so... Like This. It'll be fine! It's just spending time with Laurent, which is something she enjoys, so it'll be fine.

She debates on dressing up for the occasion, before settling on wearing one of the outfits Laurent bought her and tying her hair up in braids that are nicer than what she usually does with her hair. It takes her a moment to spot Laurent, but she stops beneath the tree and peers up at him.]

This isn't the beach.

[She looks amused, smiling up at him brightly.]

[ Laurent waves when he sees Adelaide, looking down from where he sits when she arrives. ]

Of course, but I knew I'd see you either way.

[ And without a beat, he asks-- ]

Catch me?

Fair enough.

[She blinks, before holding out her arms.]

I'll try not to drop you.

[southclaw]

[Surprising no one, Kevin is bad at checking his mail. So when he finally checks it today, not only does he receive a letter from Snake, he also gets a lot of other stuff.

It's all littering the ground outside of House 5 as usual, but this time it's because Kevin is only interested in one thing: a large, soft plush wolf toy. He picks it up and stares at it, and then the tears start coming.]

Karl... you're really here...!

[He buries his face in the oversized plush, although he doesn't really care if anyone sees him crying now.]

[turnaboutson]

[There's a scattering of Stuff outside of House 5, which is not so unusual, but the fact that Kevin is crying onto one of the things that had ostensibly been in his mailbox...that's definitely unusual.]

Kevin? Are you all right?

[southclaw]

[Kevin looks up, and hastily rubs his face with one hand. Strangely, he's smiling.]

I'm fine! I have Karl back!

[turnaboutson]

Karl...?

[Obviously the plush. He smiles.]

I'm glad that you have him back. I remember seeing you writing his name with a stick in the dirt a few weeks ago.
