Another Week Goes By

Monday morning comes along. It’s a quiet morning, which is much-needed after such a long island adventure. To anyone walking around the island, you’ll notice two things:

The airport is open, but the seaplane is gone.
Also, there’s a familiar face jogging around the perimeter of the housing portion of the island. That familiar face happens to be none other than the ninja rabbit himself, Snake! Looks like he’s already spending his first day on the island getting in shape!

When Tom Nook calls you all over for morning announcements, he looks pleased with himself. Even Snake comes over to join those who gather to listen to the tanuki. “Good morning, everyone! Let’s all give a warm welcome to our new friend, Snake!”

Cue applause. … Hopefully there is some applause, anyway. Snake grins and just looks very happy to be here.

“Next, I’m pleased to announce that the postal service is now open, since Orville is here to manage mail! You’re able to send individual messages to your fellow residents with gifts attached if you'd like, all handwritten if you’d like, yes. Alternatively, you can redeem what are called Nook Miles for items now -- they’re essentially a rewards system, and you can track your rewards on the Nook Miles app on your phone.”

“Essentially, the app will automatically award you for every contribution you add to the island, whether it be decorating your house, harvesting fruit, pulling weeds -- you name it! You can then turn in those Nook Miles at the airport, and that’s how we’ll be delivering items to you in the mail from now on.”

That’ll have the mail system make more sense, at least! Now it’s all on you if you decide to end up with 40 items in the mail all at once.

“The last announcement I have to make is that we’re going to make a second housing plot! The first one was a success, what with Snake moving in, and I’m grateful for Wilbur and Orville’s efforts in helping us build our island. So...with that, I need the following items for the next house:

1 Ironwood Table
2 Ironwood Dressers
1 Ironwood Clock
2 Ironwood Chairs

And just like last week, if nobody on the island has the DIY for these, I will send over the DIYs to your apps.”

He pauses, and then he looks a little...sheepish at this next announcement. “Now, I’m aware that some of you have been building bridges — and now that you all have vaulting poles and ladders, there are untouched parts of the island for you to explore. I’d like to ask you all to consider creating areas outside, such as an exercise area, perhaps even a park of sorts — though we will have someone coming in soon who may need some space.

Finally, this is just a request -- if you have any fossils, bugs, or fish, do turn them in to Blathers! He's very close to hitting his goal before we can open up a museum, so keep that in mind.”

He raises his hand, as if to end the morning announcements. “That’s all for today!”





Possible Objectives

1. Help Tom Nook prepare a housing plot for the second villager house!
2. Get Nook Miles to redeem items at the post office at the airport.
3. Help Blathers by catching and donating specimens.
4. Decorate and explore the untouched part of the island (see locations page; it’s the left hand area)

NOTE: Nook Miles are not a new mechanic and are simply an IC way to justify the rewards system, now! You don't need to keep track of points; just assume the threads you turn in are characters redeeming points for items.

[ Dokja was making his way around, spotting the familiar girl working through the pile and takes in surprise at the pool that pops up. ..That sure is a whole pool. Ah, but something else is catching his attention and it's that black coat. It looks exactly like the white coat he's wearing now, but of course slightly tattered up but it still brings a smile to his face. ]

Hello, Serval. Do you mind if I take that coat? It happens to be one of my belongings. [ As he asks he's already gingerly lifting the coat into his hands, looking it over. Yeah, it's exactly how he last remembered it. ]

[sugooooooooi]

Huh? [blink] Okay! If it's yours, you can have it. How come it's all wrecked?

[afterword]

Thank you. [ For now, he'll put it on! Right on top of the other coat. Yeah. ] That's because back home was pretty dangerous, there was always a lot of fighting going on.

[sugooooooooi]

Aww... A lot of your homes sound scary. Are you gonna be okay if you go back?

[afterword]

..I will, actually. There shouldn't be anymore fighting. We've done everything we can so home should be safe now. So you don't have to worry.

[sugooooooooi]

Really? That's good! Then you can just have fun all the time, like here, right?

[afterword]

That's what I want, yes. To live in a big house with all my companions, have a picnic somewhere and enjoy ourselves with a normal life like here.

[sugooooooooi]

That sounds like lots of fun. I hope you can do that! Then you and all your friends can just have fun all day.

[afterword]

I hope so too. [ Curiously, his tail sways. ] What kind of things did you do back in your world?

[sugooooooooi]

It was fun every day! Playing games and eating Japari Buns and talking to the other Friends. I didn't leave the savannah until I met Kaban-chan, and then I spent the next... I dunno how many days, but we were travelling across the different environment areas to get to the library so we could ask the Professor what kind of animal she was! Then we kept on going after we found out. We got to do lots of stuff! We watched something called an idol concert, figured out that a haunted house wasn't haunted, we went to a hot spring and found out clothes come off, we fought a huuuuuge Cerulean and almost died, except that part wasn't very fun, and we went to an amusement park the Professor and her assistant fixed up, too! There was more stuff, but that's a bunch of it.

[ As Serval shares, Dokja pays attention to the story she shares as an attentive listener. Serval was another of those in their normal form from what he's gathered by now. Unlike Dokja, who only gained his set of white black-tipped fox ears and tail while here. ]

It sounds like an adventure everyday for you. And not to mention a lot of traveling too. Are you gonna go back to the savannah when you go back to your world-line?

[sugooooooooi]

Not yet. I still want to help Kaban-chan! We're gonna see if humans still exist and where their territory is. Since Minato-san said humans can live just about anywhere, that's gonna be easy! I hope.

[afterword]

[ It sounds like quite the post apocalyptic world. Nothing too strange given Dokja's own world was heading to apocalyptic ruin. Still, he's curious to the difference between these animal-like people and regular humans. ]

Well, he's not wrong. Humans can live just about anywhere if they make the effort. So maybe you'll come across some.

[sugooooooooi]

I'm sure we will! They're probably really interesting and fun. All of you are, after all, and so is Kaban-chan! She's super smart.

[afterword]

There are sometimes bad humans too, so you'll have to be careful. Especially when they're afraid.. they may do reckless things. [ In an environment that is post apocalyptic no less. ] What kind of person is this Miss Kaban? Is she human? Or like you?

[sugooooooooi]

Both, kind of! She's a human, but a human Friend, just like I'm a serval Friend.

[afterword]

Ah, I understand. [ How curious. ] Though, your human friend, does she not know what happened to other humans?

[sugooooooooi]

That's what we're gonna find out. The whole reason we started travelling was to find out what kind of animal she was, because we didn't know about humans. Though it turned out a couple people had heard of them! Just no one had ever seen one.

[afterword]

[ The reason for travel makes sense. ] Since you've heard of them, it's a good start. If you have your human friend then there's bound to be others.

Do you think? I think so, too! If nobody knows what happened to them, then they might still be around! We just need to find where they live.

[afterword]

I hope you're able to in the end. [ It's an interesting tale, reminding him how different their stories are in more ways than one. ] Thank you for sharing it with me.
