Week 3 Log
Weather: Sunny and warm AM, cool PM until Friday. Friday - cloudy AM, rainy PM
- Another Week Goes By
Monday morning comes along. It’s a quiet morning, which is much-needed after such a long island adventure. To anyone walking around the island, you’ll notice two things:
The airport is open, but the seaplane is gone.
Also, there’s a familiar face jogging around the perimeter of the housing portion of the island. That familiar face happens to be none other than the ninja rabbit himself, Snake! Looks like he’s already spending his first day on the island getting in shape!
When Tom Nook calls you all over for morning announcements, he looks pleased with himself. Even Snake comes over to join those who gather to listen to the tanuki. “Good morning, everyone! Let’s all give a warm welcome to our new friend, Snake!”
Cue applause. … Hopefully there is some applause, anyway. Snake grins and just looks very happy to be here.
“Next, I’m pleased to announce that the postal service is now open, since Orville is here to manage mail! You’re able to send individual messages to your fellow residents with gifts attached if you'd like, all handwritten if you’d like, yes. Alternatively, you can redeem what are called Nook Miles for items now -- they’re essentially a rewards system, and you can track your rewards on the Nook Miles app on your phone.”
“Essentially, the app will automatically award you for every contribution you add to the island, whether it be decorating your house, harvesting fruit, pulling weeds -- you name it! You can then turn in those Nook Miles at the airport, and that’s how we’ll be delivering items to you in the mail from now on.”
That’ll have the mail system make more sense, at least! Now it’s all on you if you decide to end up with 40 items in the mail all at once.
“The last announcement I have to make is that we’re going to make a second housing plot! The first one was a success, what with Snake moving in, and I’m grateful for Wilbur and Orville’s efforts in helping us build our island. So...with that, I need the following items for the next house:
1 Ironwood Table
2 Ironwood Dressers
1 Ironwood Clock
2 Ironwood Chairs
And just like last week, if nobody on the island has the DIY for these, I will send over the DIYs to your apps.”
He pauses, and then he looks a little...sheepish at this next announcement. “Now, I’m aware that some of you have been building bridges — and now that you all have vaulting poles and ladders, there are untouched parts of the island for you to explore. I’d like to ask you all to consider creating areas outside, such as an exercise area, perhaps even a park of sorts — though we will have someone coming in soon who may need some space.
Finally, this is just a request -- if you have any fossils, bugs, or fish, do turn them in to Blathers! He's very close to hitting his goal before we can open up a museum, so keep that in mind.”
He raises his hand, as if to end the morning announcements. “That’s all for today!”
Possible Objectives
1. Help Tom Nook prepare a housing plot for the second villager house!
2. Get Nook Miles to redeem items at the post office at the airport.
3. Help Blathers by catching and donating specimens.
4. Decorate and explore the untouched part of the island (see locations page; it’s the left hand area)
NOTE: Nook Miles are not a new mechanic and are simply an IC way to justify the rewards system, now! You don't need to keep track of points; just assume the threads you turn in are characters redeeming points for items.

[ All week!! Minato's been milling around the airport all week, wanting to be hopeful, not wanting to meddle, but this is about as long as he can hold out before poking his head inside and seeing if Orville or Wilbur are in, as they said they live there. ]
Hello...? I'm sorry about the plane... [ he ventures, in case he'd somehow lost everybody plane priveleges, as if they had permission to touch it in the first place. ]
i.
[ Somewhere on the north side of the island, Minato's busy setting up something that may or may not be a... shrine...?
That is, there are two large stone komainu standing right there, and a little ways behind them is an empty cardboard box, and behind that is a large, five foot tall mountain of clay. Imagine this, but brown. It's also sitting in the middle of a fire pit and is currently on fire.
Minato stands in front of it, feeds a handful of more twigs into the flames, and presses his hands together expectantly. ]
ii.
[ Somewhere around where Sylvando has decided to have the outdoor performance theater, Minato goes ahead and sets up an orchestra pit. Which is basically a swath of birch flooring upon which all the instruments Minato has at his disposal are set out: an upright piano, a violin, a ukulele, and the ocarina in his pocket. They're still working on the frying pan, maybe.
Minato sits backwards on the piano bench with the violin propped up while he watches people pass by, supplying the background music as they walk, from quirky little staccato steps to low, melancholic, drawn out notes of anybody looking like they're stalking over here to tell him to cut it out. ]

Hi there! Aw, don't worry about the plane--Wilbur's gone and taken it on a few errands, that's all!
no subject
[ "Don't worry about the plane" either means he's forgiven or Orville didn't know after all, and Minato should keep mum about anything regarding it. ]
What sort of errands is he running? I would've liked to come with, just to see what else is out there...
[ He's hoping for Tokyo tower. Mt Fuji. Some recognizable landmark. ]
no subject
[ Orville pauses for a moment. ]
Oh, and some special guests! I think I'm gonna keep that a surprise, though... but they're really nice folks!
no subject
Oh... [ He was sort of under the impression this was some apocalyptic world where there was nobody else but themselves, but isn't Snake here? It would make sense (as much as anything about this place makes sense) that there are others. ]
Well, I won't ask to spoil the surprise. But these new neighbors... are they all hermits like Snake stranded on their own deserted islands? Or is there a mainland somewhere we could all visit someday?
[ A city! With fancy cafes and movie theaters and karaoke bars onegaiiiii ]
3/5!
[ Is he sparkling? Almost. ]
That is to say... everyone has their own homes that aren't mystery islands. Wilbur's just scopin' 'em out to see if we get any bites, so it takes a while. I'm not real sure about a mainland... we're all kinda spread out here!

[Here is Serval, and here is... a frightening amount of clay that she deposits in a big lump at his feet.]
Thank you for the letter! Is this enough clay?
no subject
[ He looks her up and down to see if she'd worn any of the things he'd sent along with it, but wouldn't be surprised if she'd just rolled her eyes at them. ]
This is a lot of clay, too... Thanks, Serval. I might need more, though. Past trials haven't been going very well.
no subject
Aww, really? Did it break?
no subject
Yeah... I tried earlier today, but it sorta all melted. A couple days ago it exploded. I dunno how to get it right so it'll just harden up.

When Laurent goes around the island to look for Minato, he finally finds him (wherever he is) and tries to surprise him from behind by covering his eyes. ]
no subject
He stops in his tracks and freezes immediately, and would be dead if this were some sort of monster attack instead of just Laurent. ]
no subject
Though, he imitates a low, whispery "demonic"-like voice: ]
I've come to get you, Minato Arisato.
no subject
Where are we going?
no subject
Anyway, Laurent lets go and puts his hands into his own pants pockets. ]
A wondrous place where you'll have fun.
[ He speaks normally again, and it sounds a bit like sarcasm. Anyway, if Minato turns around, he gets out a fossil. It looks skull-shaped, but what makes this one stand out is that it somewhat resembles a human... a deformed human? Something like that. ]

[She looks a little curious a she sees that, canting her head to the side, wondering who it's even for.]
no subject
[ If she doesn't ask, he's not going to say it, lowering his hands and shifting a little uneasily. She's not supposed to see it until it's done! It's hard to hide a flaming tower of clay, though. ]
no subject
[She cants her head to the side, blinking curiously.} What do you mean by that?
no subject
[ Shh, turn around, don't look at its face ]
It's nothing religious or anything, anyways. I don't think this island needs a spiteful god.
[ because there is no other sort of god ]
no subject
[Important questions.
Although her eyes don't look at the face directly.]

[Friendly though the words might be, Zeke's tone is anything but. The shoebill folds his wings as he looks down at Minato, courtesy of the latter's spot on the bench.]
Afraid we've got a bit of a problem.
no subject
Oh no. [ deadpan. but then more genuine, ] What's up?

no subject
[ He lowers the violin to set on his lap when he hears this, brows raised in surprise. ]
Who's doing that?
[ And- Zeke wants to team up with him to beat up this guy or what ]
