Weather: All Week - Clear Skies...?

A New Week

Another Monday is here, and that means another round of weekly announcements. You haven’t had any strange dreams since that odd one on Friday evening, but some of you can’t help but feel something…familiar stirring up inside of you. Some kind of energy, some kind of power…

But before you can think too much on it, your train of thought is interrupted by Tom Nook’s voice booming over the speakers again, as per usual.

“Good morning, everyone! Happy fifth week on the island, yes, yes! I have a very special announcement for you today, and that’s that the museum will be open starting on Wednesday! We are currently detailing where to lay out the plot, and you will see another construction area tomorrow. We’ll most likely have it near Able Sisters for ease of convenience. I’m very pleased with our two new establishments!”

He claps delightedly to himself. Tom Nook seems very pleased with how the island is coming along so far!

“Next, please give a warm welcome to our new neighbor, Raymond! Raymond is working as the Able Sisters’ accountant, though he is a little confused about the number of clocks in his house… Ah, but I digress. I’m very happy that we’ve filled up all three of our villager plots!”

Snake, Audie, and Raymond...what an interesting trio. One who enjoys working on his muscles, one who loves fashion, and one who crunches numbers.

“And finally,” Tom Nook continues, “while I don’t have much for you all this week, I am curious about something. I’d like to know how the Meteor Shower went for all of you! It was your first one, no? I hope your wishes will come true!”

Little does he know...some of them already have. Perhaps they will continue to, too, throughout the week.

After the morning announcements, you may notice that there has been a new posting on the bulletin board. Upon closer inspection, the new posting is from no one other than Snake himself!

His posting is as follows:



Hey hey! I’m CRAZY excited about living here on Isle Sonrisa, where the biggest attractions are my biceps! I wanna build up my muscles even more, so can you help me with something?

I want as many barbells as I can get! Yep, no limit, just give me everything you’ve got! You know where to find me, and I’ll give anyone who gives me a barbell a special surprise! Thanks!

P.S. If anyone wants to arm wrestle sometime, give me a ring! I’ll be right there in a jiffy!

[ Because... Yeah. Subpar! On top of usual paranoia of getting poisoned. ]

Even if it's from someone you trust?

[ Laurent would add "what about Dokja", but... seeing as to how they sometimes communicate is through fighting and pulling Joonghyuk into shenanigans... maybe he isn't the best example. ]

That man can barely take care of himself and you expect him to cook?

[ That's funny? If Joonghyuk was capable of laughing, he would? ]

People can be all sorts of surprising, you know. They can be both things.

[ Joonghyuk should laugh anyway. ]

Are you telling me to embrace Kim Dokja's surprises?

[ For some reason, Joonghyuk doesn't seem happy about this. ]

[ Laurent doesn't know about Dokja's penchant for dying being included in his surprise plans, but even he knows it shouldn't be a blanket statement. ]

I'm sure you have enough capacity of judgment to decide which ones are acceptable or not.

[ Oh, Laurent... If only you knew. It's not his story to tell, though he thinks he has his shares in it, so he leaves it at that. ]

We escorted Sun Wukong to deliver the sacred scripts, but Constellations got in the way towards the end. China's nebula, < Emperor >, feared losing their famous fable.

So it was like a story remake contest? And whoever wins gets to own the original story?

[ Damn. Fables sure are important. It makes Laurent wonder what this meant to him as a literature teacher for a second before coming to the conclusion that he'll think on it later. ]

Yes. Whoever makes the best rendition of Journey to the West wins is gifted with the fable. < Emperor > had no intentions of giving it up, considering I've only seen their incarnations win every regression turn.

[ Basically, it's rigged. ]

They should have handed it over quietly.

[ A rigged contest... yet the storyholder chose to hold the contest anyway. It sounds an awful lot like it was mostly done for show, and Laurent can compare that sort of event to ones he knew. It makes it easier to understand. ]

Hearing your stories are really inspirational, Joonghyuk. Even with your personality, just telling these stories can inspire people.

... This is a story about Sun Wukong's retirement.

[ ??? Excuse you? Also, what do you mean by his personality? That gains a squint. ]

We always receive something when hearing or listening to a story, whether it be emotions or expanded thinking... there is always something to take away from a story when you go through one. Stories usually have two functions: to provide information or entertainment--sometimes both. Two people can narrate the same story and have a different impact based on how the narration is provided.

For someone who seemed to be struggling with an impossible task, your story of Sun Wukong's retirement is very uplifting with how you mention that your group won despite the odds.

... We were lucky.

[ Joonghyuk won't lie and say it was from all their effort. A lot of it is, but he's well aware that sometimes it's just luck. Why else has he regressed 1864 times? ]

Kim Dokja hogged all the potions in the subscenario.

[ He forgot to call him Sun Wukong, but the irritation is obviously towards Dokja. ]

[conceptualize]

Sometimes you just need to get lucky in life.

[ There's a mix of emotions on Laurent's face that's hard to decipher what he's actually feeling when he says that. ]

I assume they were good quality potions, because otherwise you wouldn't have brought them up.

[regression]

... It was all of our potions.

[ All of them. It doesn't matter what kind of quality. All of their potions gone. ]

... He must have been really thirsty during the reenactment.

[ Laurent finally finishes the rice porridge. ]

Thanks for bringing this over. I'll return the tupperware after cleaning it.

... He was weak, so he needed to drink all of them. Fortunately, he was able to deliver the sacred texts.

[ Then why is he criticizing him? Shh. Don't question. ]

Then I'll be expecting my tupperware back.

[ Yeah... he's wondering that too. ]

You sure love him a lot in your own way.

[ He smiles! At least he looks better than before. ]
