Weather: All Week - Clear Skies...?

A New Week

Another Monday is here, and that means another round of weekly announcements. You haven’t had any strange dreams since that odd one on Friday evening, but some of you can’t help but feel something…familiar stirring up inside of you. Some kind of energy, some kind of power…

But before you can think too much on it, your train of thought is interrupted by Tom Nook’s voice booming over the speakers again, as per usual.

“Good morning, everyone! Happy fifth week on the island, yes, yes! I have a very special announcement for you today, and that’s that the museum will be open starting on Wednesday! We are currently detailing where to lay out the plot, and you will see another construction area tomorrow. We’ll most likely have it near Able Sisters for ease of convenience. I’m very pleased with our two new establishments!”

He claps delightedly to himself. Tom Nook seems very pleased with how the island is coming along so far!

“Next, please give a warm welcome to our new neighbor, Raymond! Raymond is working as the Able Sisters’ accountant, though he is a little confused about the number of clocks in his house… Ah, but I digress. I’m very happy that we’ve filled up all three of our villager plots!”

Snake, Audie, and Raymond...what an interesting trio. One who enjoys working on his muscles, one who loves fashion, and one who crunches numbers.

“And finally,” Tom Nook continues, “while I don’t have much for you all this week, I am curious about something. I’d like to know how the Meteor Shower went for all of you! It was your first one, no? I hope your wishes will come true!”

Little does he know...some of them already have. Perhaps they will continue to, too, throughout the week.

After the morning announcements, you may notice that there has been a new posting on the bulletin board. Upon closer inspection, the new posting is from no one other than Snake himself!

His posting is as follows:



Hey hey! I’m CRAZY excited about living here on Isle Sonrisa, where the biggest attractions are my biceps! I wanna build up my muscles even more, so can you help me with something?

I want as many barbells as I can get! Yep, no limit, just give me everything you’ve got! You know where to find me, and I’ll give anyone who gives me a barbell a special surprise! Thanks!

P.S. If anyone wants to arm wrestle sometime, give me a ring! I’ll be right there in a jiffy!

[ At the north east corner of the island between the pond and the cliffs, several dozen scarecrow stand scattered about the area, all wearing different outfits as if mannequins in a store display. One wears a formal red and plum hakama, another a white sheep costume sporting a golden bell, a third a green alpinist overalls with a white daisy across the chest and a safety helmet on its head.

In the next moment, an arrow fwip!s through the air and embeds itself in the last scarecrow's face, right under the brim of that safety helmet. It subsequently bursts into flames.

Across from the burning scarecrow, twenty feet in the air with six beating wings working to maintain altitude, Minato unhurriedly takes another arrow and sets it against the bow in his hands. A flick of his thumb on a lighter sets the arrowhead on fire, his arm draws the arrow back, and fwip! The sheep scarecrow's head tears halfway off its neck with the impact, and catches on fire.

Thank you for the gifts. ]

[ Of all things Kaede expected to see, Minato flying while shooting flaming arrows wasn't one of them. Although maybe she should have expected this.

Either way, she claps when the sheep scarecrow bursts into flames. She should probably be worried about the flames but it'll be fine. ]

Wow, that was so cool!

[ It's fine. They're on sand and hopefully that makes it safe enough, though yeah, Kaede will still have to be careful with the flames, especially as Minato makes his way back down to land and the beat of his wings makes them flicker and flare up again. ]

Thanks. I'm glad I hadn't gotten too rusty...

[ Headshots aren't bad at all. More than that, he sounds more spirited than he did all last week- destruction is just one of those things he has confidence in. ]

[ She takes a couple of steps away from the scarecrows to avoid the flames as they get reinvigorated. Kaede smiles, noticing the change in his voice. ]

Where did you learn to do that? Were you in an archery club?

[compendiem]

Mm... No, I wasn't. I sorta just picked it up by watching one of my teammates- she was in the club at school, though.

[ And maybe Kaede would be able to tell that Minato doesn't have the perfect form of an archer- no straight back and calculated draw of the bow string, but rather the same slouch and whatever motion comes most naturally to him. The result is a good shot, but with a "whatever works" mindset instead of formal learning. ]

Wow, that's awesome! I wish I could see your teammate in action!

[ But she's fine watching Minato, at least. She's only seen a couple of people from archery clubs at her school just a handful of times, so watching anyone use a bow is more than enough for her, even if their form is lacking. ]

Did you learn anything else like that from your teammates?

Boxing, fencing, how to swing a bludgeon... A lot of it's just working it out, though. Hit fast and accurate, then get out of there. Those sorts of tactics.

[ Pretty crude tactics... but at least he can pick up tips from them. ]

At school, the sport I took was kendo. So I sorta know the rules for that the best.

[ Of all things Laurent probably expected to see on the island, Minato having full control of flight and shooting flaming arrows with his lighter wasn't one of them. He watches at first, seeing Minato's marksmanship before quietly and slowly applauding. ]

Congrats. I see that your practicing have finally paid off. Though, nice aim. Were you an archer back in the day?

[ Though he thought Minato would have been more a sword person... all these destructive people on the island have been sword people so far. ]

"Back in the day" makes me sound old...

[ If he could pound some iron into a blade, he would have ditched this bow in a heartbeat- but then again, he can only reliably fight long ranged at the moment, so after making his decision to pick up training again, this was the only reliable option. ]

I did a bit of everything, but yeah. Archery's useful for hunting things you can sneak up on. Golden hands and stuff.

Golden disembodied hands?

[ All he can think of is something that looks like Master Hand from the Smash series, but with a gold color palette. ]

Did you snipe them from a distance in fear of getting slapped by one?

[ He's... not serious about it. ]

Golden disembodied hands. I had to snipe them from a distance or they'd scuttle away.

[ Like so- and he mimes a hand running away on its fingertips. These things never even wanted to fight him, he just ruthlessly hunted them down for the $$$ ]

Did you extract their golden skin and sell it for a profit?

[ Because why else would you snipe golden hands, right? ]

[ The mental image of Minato getting a knife out and degloving a hand Shadow... Thank god Persaon spares us this. ]

Sorta, yeah. I gut them, and inside is a coin that I can sell to one of my contacts for money. She has a list of things to hunt and what to bring back as evidence. It's pretty lucrative.

[ He is absolutely a bounty hunter. ]

[ Joonghyuk has noticed the amount of items people have received in the mail range from regular clothes to... Items from home. He's kept the items he has received, though at times he tries to find the owner, but it's an afterthought to his own belongings.

One being his sword.

The other being his coat that Minato is trying to set on fire—!! ]

Don't do that.

[ Don't do what-- It takes a surprisingly large amount of strength to gradually lessen the tension on the bowstring instead of simply letting the next arrow fly, and he can't keep his height when doing so either. All this results in a slightly disgruntled Minato that comes back down to land to stare at Joonghyuk. ]

I was careful to take precautions. Doing this on the beach away from everybody else.

That's fine.

[ To be honest, Minato could be doing this near the residential area and Joonghyuk would be fine with that as long as it isn't near his house. He knows it takes a lot of strength to lessen the bow, then also land with little issues.

But no praise right now. Only one thing: ]

The coat belongs to me.

[ If you can just maybe not light it on fire? ]

What? No, it's not.

[ He got it in the mail; it's his. But he does stumble his way over to it and lift it off the scarecrow's shoulders and hold it up to Joonghyuk- not to hand it over, but to hold it up in front of him and see that... yeah... it does look like it fits. ]

[ He squints at Minato as he holds it up to him. Even if he didn't mean to hand it over, Joonghyuk takes it and wears it. It fits perfectly, as if made for him (in a way it does), and matches Dokja's white coat (don't ask). ]

... Have you not received something from your world yet?

[ There seems to be an array of lost items mailed to the wrong people is what he noticed. ]

[YOU KNOW, HE SEES STUFF LIKE THIS EVERY SO OFTEN BACK HOME, BUT...]

[ It wasn't supposed to be a spectacle, so there's no way Minato would've made a huge announcement out of it... The advice is noted, though, and although there's no point to it now, he lessens the tension on the bowstrings momentarily in order to call down to Walder- ]

[ before he takes the bow up again and lets the arrow loose, striking the scarecrow right in front of Walder. ]

[Ashe walked by when he saw Minato shooting the fire arrows. He didn't know there was another archer on the island! He stayed a safe difference away while he watched him. His form was really good. When he finished Ashe walked over.]

That was great! I didn't know you could shoot arrows too. I'm an archer back home, it's great to see another archer. Do you practice back home?

[ He's going to have to wonder why this is the response people have instead of "what are you doing, why, stop," but there's something relieving in not having to explain himself, and he can indulge in a little pride at hearing that his archery skills is at least passable, enough to be commended by another archer. ]

Never got an opportunity to here. A slingshot's not really the same... But I've used it a bit at home, though usually I use a sword, 'cause I can swing them faster than it takes me to draw a bowstring.

[Many of his friends either use magic or swords that he's always happy to meet another archer. He never thought to set the arrowhead on fire. Ashe might have to float that idea when he goes back home.]

I've always had a problem with swords, though I'm not half bad with an axe. It is hard to aim with a slingshot. I've gotten the hang of it a little. I know I could get those balloons if I had my bow. It feels odd not to have it with me all the time. Do you use your sword often back home?

[ YES, let flaming arrows spread to all universes. Minato hadn't even thought to shoot down the balloons with the bow- and the thought has him glancing skyward, though there's nothing there to shoot down. He didn't need to go through all the trouble setting up the scarecrow targets if there were ready made ones flying around up there... Oh well. ]

Mm, almost every night. So I got a lot of practice with it- and bows and axes and spears and stuff too. But I've only done this less than a year... What about you?

[The balloons can be hard to hit sometimes. He's been using it as extra practice, he didn't think of setting up targets to practice. He'll have to try that next time.]

I've been practicing with a bow since I was little. I started to practice with the axe when I enrolled in the monastery. It's a school where they taught us how to fight and how to use different weapons. I mostly practice with the bow now.

[He uses his axe only when he has to, mostly for up close attacks.]
