Week 3 Log
Weather: Sunny and warm AM, cool PM until Friday. Friday - cloudy AM, rainy PM
- Another Week Goes By
Monday morning comes along. It’s a quiet morning, which is much-needed after such a long island adventure. To anyone walking around the island, you’ll notice two things:
The airport is open, but the seaplane is gone.
Also, there’s a familiar face jogging around the perimeter of the housing portion of the island. That familiar face happens to be none other than the ninja rabbit himself, Snake! Looks like he’s already spending his first day on the island getting in shape!
When Tom Nook calls you all over for morning announcements, he looks pleased with himself. Even Snake comes over to join those who gather to listen to the tanuki. “Good morning, everyone! Let’s all give a warm welcome to our new friend, Snake!”
Cue applause. … Hopefully there is some applause, anyway. Snake grins and just looks very happy to be here.
“Next, I’m pleased to announce that the postal service is now open, since Orville is here to manage mail! You’re able to send individual messages to your fellow residents with gifts attached if you'd like, all handwritten if you’d like, yes. Alternatively, you can redeem what are called Nook Miles for items now -- they’re essentially a rewards system, and you can track your rewards on the Nook Miles app on your phone.”
“Essentially, the app will automatically award you for every contribution you add to the island, whether it be decorating your house, harvesting fruit, pulling weeds -- you name it! You can then turn in those Nook Miles at the airport, and that’s how we’ll be delivering items to you in the mail from now on.”
That’ll have the mail system make more sense, at least! Now it’s all on you if you decide to end up with 40 items in the mail all at once.
“The last announcement I have to make is that we’re going to make a second housing plot! The first one was a success, what with Snake moving in, and I’m grateful for Wilbur and Orville’s efforts in helping us build our island. So...with that, I need the following items for the next house:
1 Ironwood Table
2 Ironwood Dressers
1 Ironwood Clock
2 Ironwood Chairs
And just like last week, if nobody on the island has the DIY for these, I will send over the DIYs to your apps.”
He pauses, and then he looks a little...sheepish at this next announcement. “Now, I’m aware that some of you have been building bridges — and now that you all have vaulting poles and ladders, there are untouched parts of the island for you to explore. I’d like to ask you all to consider creating areas outside, such as an exercise area, perhaps even a park of sorts — though we will have someone coming in soon who may need some space.
Finally, this is just a request -- if you have any fossils, bugs, or fish, do turn them in to Blathers! He's very close to hitting his goal before we can open up a museum, so keep that in mind.”
He raises his hand, as if to end the morning announcements. “That’s all for today!”
Possible Objectives
1. Help Tom Nook prepare a housing plot for the second villager house!
2. Get Nook Miles to redeem items at the post office at the airport.
3. Help Blathers by catching and donating specimens.
4. Decorate and explore the untouched part of the island (see locations page; it’s the left hand area)
NOTE: Nook Miles are not a new mechanic and are simply an IC way to justify the rewards system, now! You don't need to keep track of points; just assume the threads you turn in are characters redeeming points for items.

[ But she will take that water with a "thanks" and chug it. She's pretty sweaty, but she's smiling and cradling the radish with her other arm. ]
...Do you mind if I sit?
no subject
[ Laurent will direct her to his room like before. There's a throwback mitt chair that looks comfortable to sit on, along with a giant 50-inch tv hanging on the wall. A metronome sits on the usual upright piano, a log bed in the corner and a cuckoo clock off to the side. The floor also looks different along with the wall. Looks like Laurent likes to change things a lot. ]
Do you want more water?
no subject
[ She would love more water...
Moving towards the throwback mitt chair and eventually taking a seat in it, Kaede takes some time to look around. ]
Wow, your room looks really nice.

[ He pours more water into Kaede's cup from a water pitcher and puts that on a round table when he's done. ]
Here you go.
no subject
[ She doesn't chug it this time around, just taking sips instead. ]
I think you've done a good job! I haven't really decorated too much yet myself. We don't really have a whole lot of furniture just yet, though.
no subject
[ Laurent has tons of stuff... ]
Actually, I have some spare DIY recipes if you want them.
no subject
[ She has no way to pay him back for it!! ]
I don't mind bringing you materials for things, but I'd feel bad just taking DIY recipes... Do you want anything in return?
no subject
[ Laurent takes out several DIY cards as if they're playing cards, spreading them while holding them in his hand, as expected of a dealer's habit. They consist of the following:
Log Bed
Apple Rug
Log Round Table
Garden Bench
Log Garden Lounge
Apple Wall
Fossil Doorplate ]

Wow, a lot of these are really nice!
[ She picks up the apple rug and log round table recipes. ]
It would be nice to have a table in rug in our house...
no subject
[ C'mon Kaede. It's free stuff. Free. ]
no subject
[ So she'll grab the log bed, garden bench, and apple wall as well. ]
Thank you. I think Colette will really like a lot of these too. Especially the bed.

It requires a lot of hardwood to make one. I can give you a bundle to give you a head start if you'd like.
[ Whopping 30 hardwood. Laurent has been a wood hoarder... ]
no subject
You don't mind? I feel like I'm taking so much from you.
[ Even if it is extra stuff for him. ]
no subject
[ His beloved "pet". ]
I'll take that as payment.
no subject
[ And she'll hold it out to him. ]
I've never seen a radish shaped like this...
no subject
It happens every now and then. I was also surprised when I dug it up in the garden near Joonghyuk's house.
no subject
It's almost a shame that you'll be eating it. But it's not like you can really keep it around either...
no subject
[ Laurent takes out his NookPhone and takes a picture of the radish, posing on the piano chair. ]
... memories will last however long we want them to.
no subject
That's true! I wonder if you can get that printed so you can frame it.
no subject
[ Laurent smiles. Yeah, he definitely will. There's something about pictures that sucks up so much sentimentality too. ]
Want another glass of water?
no subject
[ It's... kind of cute.
She shakes her head. ]
I think I'm fine now, but thank you. I should probably let you get to looking for the other one you were missing.
[ She'd offer to do it herself but she's dug enough holes for now. ]
no subject
[ Yeah, there's no way that Laurent would tell Kaede to fetch the second one when she was so exhausted from finding the first one. ]
Take care, Kaede.
