Week 3 Log
Weather: Sunny and warm AM, cool PM until Friday. Friday - cloudy AM, rainy PM
- Another Week Goes By
Monday morning comes along. It’s a quiet morning, which is much-needed after such a long island adventure. To anyone walking around the island, you’ll notice two things:
The airport is open, but the seaplane is gone.
Also, there’s a familiar face jogging around the perimeter of the housing portion of the island. That familiar face happens to be none other than the ninja rabbit himself, Snake! Looks like he’s already spending his first day on the island getting in shape!
When Tom Nook calls you all over for morning announcements, he looks pleased with himself. Even Snake comes over to join those who gather to listen to the tanuki. “Good morning, everyone! Let’s all give a warm welcome to our new friend, Snake!”
Cue applause. … Hopefully there is some applause, anyway. Snake grins and just looks very happy to be here.
“Next, I’m pleased to announce that the postal service is now open, since Orville is here to manage mail! You’re able to send individual messages to your fellow residents with gifts attached if you'd like, all handwritten if you’d like, yes. Alternatively, you can redeem what are called Nook Miles for items now -- they’re essentially a rewards system, and you can track your rewards on the Nook Miles app on your phone.”
“Essentially, the app will automatically award you for every contribution you add to the island, whether it be decorating your house, harvesting fruit, pulling weeds -- you name it! You can then turn in those Nook Miles at the airport, and that’s how we’ll be delivering items to you in the mail from now on.”
That’ll have the mail system make more sense, at least! Now it’s all on you if you decide to end up with 40 items in the mail all at once.
“The last announcement I have to make is that we’re going to make a second housing plot! The first one was a success, what with Snake moving in, and I’m grateful for Wilbur and Orville’s efforts in helping us build our island. So...with that, I need the following items for the next house:
1 Ironwood Table
2 Ironwood Dressers
1 Ironwood Clock
2 Ironwood Chairs
And just like last week, if nobody on the island has the DIY for these, I will send over the DIYs to your apps.”
He pauses, and then he looks a little...sheepish at this next announcement. “Now, I’m aware that some of you have been building bridges — and now that you all have vaulting poles and ladders, there are untouched parts of the island for you to explore. I’d like to ask you all to consider creating areas outside, such as an exercise area, perhaps even a park of sorts — though we will have someone coming in soon who may need some space.
Finally, this is just a request -- if you have any fossils, bugs, or fish, do turn them in to Blathers! He's very close to hitting his goal before we can open up a museum, so keep that in mind.”
He raises his hand, as if to end the morning announcements. “That’s all for today!”
Possible Objectives
1. Help Tom Nook prepare a housing plot for the second villager house!
2. Get Nook Miles to redeem items at the post office at the airport.
3. Help Blathers by catching and donating specimens.
4. Decorate and explore the untouched part of the island (see locations page; it’s the left hand area)
NOTE: Nook Miles are not a new mechanic and are simply an IC way to justify the rewards system, now! You don't need to keep track of points; just assume the threads you turn in are characters redeeming points for items.

Let's see how bad this place is.
It's well in the afternoon by the time he wanders out, and after making a very crude flimsy shovel, the cat prince goes around to hit some rocks with it and digging up an X-shaped hole.
Once he's done exploring and it's late into the early evening, he'll set up a little fishing camp on the beach. It's by far his favourite place to fish now, with the calm waves crashing against the shore. He'll be there for a few hours at least.
...He may also be asleep depending on your timing, with his rod line reeled in and his body curled around in a cat-like manner. The white samurai helmet that he recently got may even be used to cover his face and head as well...
Please don't steal it.]

Are you finding any good fish? I tried to help Milla-san, but we couldn't get any.

Until he looks up in the trees. Huh...
It's a cat-girl stuck in a tree.]
Uh, some. [He's got a small pile of sea bass going with an assortment of other coloured fish. He reels in his line, and soon another shadow emerges close to the surface. A big one.]
Nothing super interesting, but Nook hasn't gotten tired of buying them.

[ Dokja happens to approach Noctis in his little fishing set up by the beach, a few things under his arm. One being a.. squid? In a little container, it staring eerily out. He sets it down and maybe.. Noctis may recognize the notebook settled on top of it. Technically Dokja had been making some rounds seeing if it belonged to anyone with about no luck.
So, here he is taking a quick fishing break. Curious to see what kind of fishes he'll be able to line in today. ]

[He shrugs, seemingly not at all bothered by the company. Watching him out of the corner of his eye, he sees the squid and--
Noctis drops his rod and leaps to his feet, fur standing on end.]
Where did you get that?!!
[Pointing one accusatory finger at the container.]

[ A JOKE. Since at first it looks like he's pointing at the squid, and given he's fishing.. well, it's a fair assumption. However, he does take note of the notebook and takes hold of it to hold it out to the other. ]
Is it yours? I don't know if you've heard or had the experience, but sometimes people's belongings get sent to the wrong person's mailbox.

But he knows enough to reach out and take the notebook. Noctis just stares at it in his hands for a quiet moment, ears tilting downward and tail still. He looks almost a bit sad.]
Yeah, it's mine. Sort of. And I know about the mailed items. I just didn't think this would be here...

I understand. It felt too invasive to peek through so I wasn't too sure who it belonged to. [ He peeked briefly, but immediately could tell it was not his place. ] Did you.. not have it on hand before you arrived?

While he is happy to have the item in his possession, it really is a reminder of what the situation was like back home, and of Luna.
Noctis quietly stares at the cover for a moment, really only shaking his head.] I didn't. It's not really mine, but I share it with... a friend.
[Lunafreya really is more than that. He shakes his head again as if to clear it.]
...Someone special. Just... this just reminds me of her.

[ Arms cross with a thought, how did it go by picking what items were sent from home? He's gotten two coats by now, which isn't weird since he technically was wearing them before arriving here.. but to get something that wasn't on you is a bit strange.
There's still the connection, from what he can gather by Noctis' words but even so. ]
You'll just have to take care of it for her in the meantime then. Until you can give it back.

[Unfortunately, that's not quite as comforting as it could be. But there's a chance she could have survived, right? He's got to hold onto that little bit of hope.
Noctis quickly realizes he's been staring at the book for most of their conversation. He finally looks at Dokja with a tiny smile.]

How this cat hasn't roasted himself in the sun, we'll never know. After a lazy tail flick, Noctis rolls over in his sleep, helmet rolling off his face and into the sand.]

Hmm. Walder doesn't want to interrupt a good catnap, but he needs to protect the citizens of the island! So, how to do this... he's not sure if any of his recipes have the potential, but at the very least, he can try to stand between Noctis and the sun while he thinks!
