- The Move-In
You’ve spent the week adjusting to island life by getting to know one another, figuring out what to do with all those presents, gathering your resources and selling them off to Tom Nook. The weekend is finally here, though, and that’s something to celebrate!
...But when you wake up on Saturday, whenever that may be, the environment you’re in is not the tent you remember falling asleep in. Rather, you’re inside of some kind of house with a white wall and ceiling, wood lined across the bottom of the walls. The floor is wood, too, shiny and glossy as the sun rays shine through the one window in your house. Whatever you had lying out in your tents is still arranged in the same general order you had your things in before. Furthermore, you’re still lying on your camping cots with the same people who fell asleep in the tent with you, but if you decide to get up and investigate, you’ll find two other rooms other than the one you’re in.
Facing the door from the inside, if you look to your left, you’ll find...a bathroom! It’s got a basic toilet, sink, and a bathtub with a showerhead for you to use. There are also enough bath towels for each person hanging on a towel rack. The walls are white but the floor in here is tiled instead of wooden. The room across the bathroom, however, is empty. It has the same wallpaper and flooring as the main room you found yourself in.
It’s a small, comfy place you’re staying in, but the real question is… When did this happen? Only one way to find out.
And sure enough, if you’re awake by nine AM, Tom Nook will rally everyone to Resident Services for his morning announcements.
“Good morning, everyone, and welcome to your first weekend on Isle Sonrisa! As you’ve all probably already noticed by now, we were able to upgrade your tents last night into houses! Don’t worry, there is no fee for this upgrade -- but now you finally have a place where you can decorate your house with all the furniture you were able to get in the mail. For any excess items you may have… Might I suggest a yard sard of some sort, hm?”
He tilts his head a little. He thinks this is a good idea!
“Alternatively, houses all come with storage. There’s a small little storage shed in the back of everyone’s houses that can fit many, many items. If you don’t want to sell your items to me or hand them off to someone else, you can store them inside of there.”
Tom Nook nods his head. “Yes, yes. I’d like to suggest that you all take this weekend to decide how to arrange the items you’ve gotten in the mail...and one more thing about those items: You can put them outside, too. For example, oh, an exercise area might be nice…” He sounds a little wistful when he says it, but promptly shakes his head afterwards.
“Ah-! Before I forget...erm… It seems as though one of our friends has unexpectedly left the island. We don’t know where or how he left, you see...but Heimdall is no longer here. We’re still working on figuring out a way to send you all home, and we’re trying to track him down, too.”
He looks very guilty about that, at least. But the moment passes, and he perks up again, smiling at everyone as best as he can. “Alright, that’s it! You can spend the weekend however you’d like to, but with your new homes being built and all the furniture some of you have received, well… It may be a good idea to work on that, no?”

Is there a song you would like to hear?
[ It's the least she can do if he's letting her play! ]

[ Since its actual name is way too long. ]

[ She heads over to the piano, settling down and getting used to the feel of the instrument before she begins playing. Kaede plays the notes quietly, but with purpose, the intensity of the notes swelling near the end before tapering off. It's obvious she's an experienced player.
After the last note dies down, she turns toward him and smiles. ]
I hope you enjoyed listening!

That was really good. Though, I have to ask: what made you choose the piano?
no subject
[ She glides her fingers along the keys, light enough that they don't make a sound. ]
Hmmm... I don't know why I chose the piano itself. I've been playing it for as long as I can remember.
[ It's been so long that she barely remembers the first contest she entered. ]
But I kept playing because I like making people happy through music.

[ Laurent thinks that's a nice mindset to have. ]
Does this mean you play a lot of upbeat songs other than the usual classical pieces?
no subject
I don't want someone to be sadder because of what I play but if they need a sad song, then I'm happy to play one.
no subject
[ He looks down at the piano keys and then glances back up. ]
I'd say music is also a form of catharsis for those who play, and those who listen. You express yourself by playing an instrument--you put yourself out there, your emotions are conveyed through an interdimensional language that can be understood by anyone, no matter where they're from.
[ ... ]
Music is pretty cool like that, huh?
no subject
[ She smiles at him. ]
You put it into better words than I ever could. I think music is a great way to connect with others, a way to see another part of them or a part you don't get to see often.

[ Laurent, the guy who's super vague about his everything, plays the piano as if speaking one of the many languages he can speak, but the most expressive he speaks is ironically without words. He gives the piano a fond look for a second and smiles at Kaede. ]
I heard you're friends with Sengoku? A real cool guy, isn't he?
no subject
I am! And he is. He's also really nice.
[ Even if his compliments fluster her sometimes, she doesn't mind. ]
I feel like we're on our way to becoming really good friends.
no subject
[ Two genuine people being friends. Their friendship would be so dazzling... ]
Would you want to play piano for him? I don't mind letting you use this piano. He'd probably like to hear it too.
no subject
Are you sure?
[ She leans forward with excitement. ]
I actually promised him a little while ago that I would play for him. I've been thinking about songs ever since.
no subject
[ Excitement and passion, which drives people to do things they enjoy... that's the real good stuff. Laurent looks pretty satisfied. ]
You can usually find me here or chopping trees.
no subject
[ She's already spent enough time at the piano bench, so she gets up. ]
I'll let you get back to playing again.
no subject
[ He smiles while facing her. ]
It was nice meeting you today, Kaede.

[ She'll be sure to listen for him! ]
