weekend 1 log
Weather: Saturday AM and PM - cloudy and warm. Sunday AM - rainy, PM - cloudy.
- The Move-In
You’ve spent the week adjusting to island life by getting to know one another, figuring out what to do with all those presents, gathering your resources and selling them off to Tom Nook. The weekend is finally here, though, and that’s something to celebrate!
...But when you wake up on Saturday, whenever that may be, the environment you’re in is not the tent you remember falling asleep in. Rather, you’re inside of some kind of house with a white wall and ceiling, wood lined across the bottom of the walls. The floor is wood, too, shiny and glossy as the sun rays shine through the one window in your house. Whatever you had lying out in your tents is still arranged in the same general order you had your things in before. Furthermore, you’re still lying on your camping cots with the same people who fell asleep in the tent with you, but if you decide to get up and investigate, you’ll find two other rooms other than the one you’re in.
Facing the door from the inside, if you look to your left, you’ll find...a bathroom! It’s got a basic toilet, sink, and a bathtub with a showerhead for you to use. There are also enough bath towels for each person hanging on a towel rack. The walls are white but the floor in here is tiled instead of wooden. The room across the bathroom, however, is empty. It has the same wallpaper and flooring as the main room you found yourself in.
It’s a small, comfy place you’re staying in, but the real question is… When did this happen? Only one way to find out.
And sure enough, if you’re awake by nine AM, Tom Nook will rally everyone to Resident Services for his morning announcements.
“Good morning, everyone, and welcome to your first weekend on Isle Sonrisa! As you’ve all probably already noticed by now, we were able to upgrade your tents last night into houses! Don’t worry, there is no fee for this upgrade -- but now you finally have a place where you can decorate your house with all the furniture you were able to get in the mail. For any excess items you may have… Might I suggest a yard sard of some sort, hm?”
He tilts his head a little. He thinks this is a good idea!
“Alternatively, houses all come with storage. There’s a small little storage shed in the back of everyone’s houses that can fit many, many items. If you don’t want to sell your items to me or hand them off to someone else, you can store them inside of there.”
Tom Nook nods his head. “Yes, yes. I’d like to suggest that you all take this weekend to decide how to arrange the items you’ve gotten in the mail...and one more thing about those items: You can put them outside, too. For example, oh, an exercise area might be nice…” He sounds a little wistful when he says it, but promptly shakes his head afterwards.
“Ah-! Before I forget...erm… It seems as though one of our friends has unexpectedly left the island. We don’t know where or how he left, you see...but Heimdall is no longer here. We’re still working on figuring out a way to send you all home, and we’re trying to track him down, too.”
He looks very guilty about that, at least. But the moment passes, and he perks up again, smiling at everyone as best as he can. “Alright, that’s it! You can spend the weekend however you’d like to, but with your new homes being built and all the furniture some of you have received, well… It may be a good idea to work on that, no?”
(OOC: Welcome to your first event log! Any questions can be directed to the FAQ. We will no longer be posting log questions and will be funneling them to the FAQ instead for easier access.

His legs slow to a still as both ears flicker back until perking forward again with a glance over to his companion. Mouth almost agape at the words.
A vacation home. By the beach. Of course when Dokja had mentioned wanting to buy a house, the rest of their companions chimed in with their own thoughts. Almost all of them. A light laugh leaves him, almost flabbergasted, though the corners of his eyes crinkle at the thought with a wide smile. ]
After being here for a week.. I can see the appeal. [ The kids especially would love it. They would be able to go down to the waters whenever they wanted. The shores would be nice to sunbathe by and even walk around every morning. The sound that escapes him after is shaky. ] ..I want to.
[ More than anything. ]

So many things changed and it's all because of the man beside him. He steals a glance from the corner of his eye and instantly his chest swells. Dokja looks... Happy. ]
Stop grinning like a fool. [ He's glad his companion hasn't forgotten how to smile. Joonghyuk's arms fold against his chest. ] We have to save you before we buy the vacation house.
[ Idiot. ]

What? [ At that remark his smile drops, looking as close to pouting without actually. He huffs a little, leaning over as his hand presses onto the bench with a tilt of his head. Intentionally keeping the other's gaze locked with his own. ]
You said you would, didn't you? [ He can feel his chest tighten. For a moment his gaze trembles, until he looks off to the side. ] ..I can at least look forward to it.
[ It's something he can grasp onto. Hold onto, as a reminder of sorts. It does not change what will happen as soon as he returns, all these promises and warm meaningful words won't stop Kim Dokja from what he plans to do. But.. he can at least hope for more. He can hope for his friends to find a way, to eventually save him.. to living in that vacation home on the beach.
Even if it takes four years. One thousand, eight hundred and sixty five. Maybe even more, he wants to bury it deep in his heart so he never forgets. One day, they'll come. Kim Dokja hates the phrase Happy Endings, but.. he can't help but wish for one. ]

[ ... Joonghyuk can at least let Dokja have that, even if he frowns when his companion talks back to him. It's fine to look forward to it since he's so sure, with all of his being, that they'll bring Dokja back home. They'll have their big house in Seoul, then buy another house by the beach elsewhere. They're going to do so many things... And they'll have their happy ending.
He looks back to the ocean. This view will be theirs at home, too. If Dokja falls asleep again, he won't try to wake him this time. They can just rest together. ]

Do you remember how we met? [ From his pocket he removes what.. looks to be a wooden comb? It's not perfect, but it gets the job done. Carefully he lifts and drapes that black tail over his lap as he squints at it. Yeah, he thought he saw a knot but it's more obvious now. Carefully he starts to comb through the fur, continuing as he speaks his thoughts. ]
I told you that I was a huge fan of you. [ Thinking back on it, it was kind of funny. His hands move gently, instead of attacking the source of the knot he works on easing and smoothing out the fur around so it loosens without any direct sharp tugging. Dokja made that first mistake on his own tail the other day. ]

... He has seen enough of Dokja's story to know what the man says is true. It may not be in the same sense as what Joonghyuk initially though, but— ]
The novel never described my tourney matches in detail.
no subject
No. But in Scenarios where you got to use Pro Gamer, it described it well. [ Even so, if Yoo Joonghyuk went back into his Pro Gaming career... it would be a first to see in person. This time the comb brushes through the length of that black tail without a single knot in place. His own tail starts to sway now again as though pleased with his work. He didn't particularly care before.. but Laurent did say he should take care of his own tail since it's technically a part of him.
Never mind that this was.. not his tail, but actually Joonghyuk's. Distantly he thinks of that day on the bridge, it feels so long ago.. Glancing back to his companion, he finds his own gaze drawn to the other's. ]

Dokja's tail? A mess. His gaze lowers to the white puff that he starts combing. ]
... Were there no texts about my life before the third turn?
[ Of course, he means a retelling rather than a reference, well aware that the first and second turn are sometimes referred to in passing. He's curious if maybe there were author's notes? Or maybe Dokja talked to tls123 about it—a life that was never published or written for everyone to see. ]

A hand raises to press curled fingers against his mouth, contemplating the words but also fighting back a shiver. Ears flicker for only a moment until they press back, clearing his throat. ]
No. Only in reference, but nothing overly in detail. I never got to read it.
[ Though he's curious as to why it was brought up. But, it does make him curious, what was the Yoo Joonghyuk of the 0th turn like? And the 1st? And 2nd? The three turns unknown before the beginning of Ways of Survival. ]
no subject
He seems focused on the tail, but his thoughts are definitely elsewhere. He wonders, is it all right to tell him? It won't change their future or fate at all. They both know that nothing will stop them from doing what they plan on doing. ]
... Before I arrived here, I remembered some of my life before I became a regressor.
[ Which is the most astounding thing. He never had memories before the first turn, but as he prepared to ask his comrades to join him to save Dokja, he was hit with memories he never thought he had. They're in pieces, but one thing is certain—Dokja was there. ]
no subject
Y.. you remembered? [ There's a shake in his voice, but the surprise is what shows on his face. Of course as far as he's aware, all he has is the distant referenced text now and then. This is a story he has not read for himself. Unaware of what his actions back home will lead to. It's precisely why this time he's pressing closer without any self awareness, more focused on those words with a high perk of those ears. ]
Can you tell me? [ There's that ever telltale twinkle in his eyes.. always gleaming when he talks about his favorite book, thought of the story he's grown up reading. But to hear it from Yoo Joonghyuk.. it feels more than just that. ]
no subject
I don't remember too much.
[ He runs his fingers through Dokja's hair to proof his fur, hoping to find no snags or tangles anywhere. The grooming ends with a shake to make sure the tail puffs like it should. There. ]
But you were there. [ He goes quiet. Expression darkening. ] And you smacked my head.
no subject
Me? [ Brows knit, words quiet as he takes that information in. Dokja was.. there? For the 0th turn? But that didn't make sense. Not to him as of now. Quietly, he looks back only to catch that darken expression.
Um. ] Are you sure that was me? You must have imagined it. [ Kim Dokja of the 0th turn... what were you thinking? ]
no subject
[ Joonghyuk has already known that this Dokja is the one that he left in the train and maybe time still flows the same for him. This only answers the question he never asked. His companion now is not the one to lead him to victory and happiness—at least not yet. Actually, he isn't too sure about the details when it comes to Dokja's future role in the universe. ]
You were reading my very first story.
no subject
The Yoo Joonghyuk of the 0th turn... ] Likely, you would have no experience then. Did you pick a Constellation because of that? Hmmm.. If I was there-- [ Would he have been able to guide him? Imagine if he was able to persuade him to take him on as his Sponsor. Would he teach him exactly what path to take, what to avoid, where to get the best items from side Scenarios.. It likely isn't until that turn or the next few that earns Yoo Joonghyuk's hard distrust so if anytime was possible it would likely be the 0th turn. Unless Yoo Joonghyuk was always that way? ]
When we go back, I'll probably have a lot of time to read. [ ... ]
no subject
No.
[ He remembers the fear of getting smacked again, so he decided not to trust any Constellations at the beginning. One thins is clear is that Dokja guided him through the scenarios. Turning back to him, he stays quiet. ]
... You can't tell me what it's like.
[ Because Dokja hasn't become it yet. Of course, Dokja wouldn't be able to give him answers and maybe hints at how he could save him. ]
no subject
[ His tail shifts as he turns to face the other more, meeting him more as he brings his gaze to look at his companion. Even as Joonghyuk looks to him and says those words. He can't tell him. No, he can't, after all he does not know that story right now. As much as he can try and imagine, it is something unknown to him. ]
I'm sure it's a good story. [ After all, the story as a whole is a story he loves, hates... that's saved him. Of course, guilt shows in that gleam in his eyes. Because of Kim Dokja... Yoo Joonghyuk has suffered time and time again. Lips part, closing, ears slowly folding back before he says it again. ] I'm sorry.

Kim Dokja...
[ His black tail curls around him as his ears sweep back, hanging his head a bit. How could you expect him to live on? When you were his reason for regressing and his reason for living... When that purpose is taken away from him. When it leaves him with one last question with no answer. What should he do? His heart is already sold on saving Dokja, but his rational mind thinks of the path left behind by failure. He knows better than anyone how cruel the universe is.
His dark eyes shake as he looks at Dokja, expression twisted in his scowl but only sadness is etched in his features. In his weakness, he can't help but think of what happens if Dokja will be their story's sacrifice. For a moment, he understands what Dokja must have felt when he visited the 1863rd word-line. He doesn't say more since the atmosphere speaks for him. All he needs is the comfort of his company since... When they come home, he will only be left with 49%. ]

His hands raise before he even realizes it, fingers trembling lightly as they cup Joonghyuk's face with a shake of his gaze that flickers from one eye to another. Searching, looking.. ]
Hey. [ The word leaves him soft, quiet- it questions whether he actually said anything, taking in the scowl that reflects from Joonghyuk. An expression that is not too strange from the man but it's that gaze that has a shaky smile lifting his own lips. He doesn't know if he's able to help. If he can comfort him like this. ]
Happy thoughts. [ Familiar sounding words. Spoken once before, two times.. three now. His hands continue to hold him, feather-light as he searches that gaze for anything. Was this enough? ..Was he enough? ]
no subject
Happy memories. There's a pang, but he raises his own hand to lay over Dokja's and follows his voice. Happy memories. The small lulls between scenarios with his companions... Then he thinks about what waits for them when this is over. When he saves Dokja, they will all have more happy memories. For now, he indulges in the comfortable silence and thoughts. ]
no subject
He whispers it once more. Happy thoughts. Happy memories. As he did before, and how Joonghyuk returned the favor, to keep them going. The past, the present and the future. Not wanting to interrupt the silence, he does not say anything else. Forgets about the world around them and only looks at the man before him. Instead, focuses on the hand resting on his own, the other moving some black strands to the side with a lingering touch. ]
