weekend 1 log

WEEKEND 1 LOG
Weather: Saturday AM and PM - cloudy and warm. Sunday AM - rainy, PM - cloudy.

    The Move-In

You’ve spent the week adjusting to island life by getting to know one another, figuring out what to do with all those presents, gathering your resources and selling them off to Tom Nook. The weekend is finally here, though, and that’s something to celebrate!

...But when you wake up on Saturday, whenever that may be, the environment you’re in is not the tent you remember falling asleep in. Rather, you’re inside of some kind of house with a white wall and ceiling, wood lined across the bottom of the walls. The floor is wood, too, shiny and glossy as the sun rays shine through the one window in your house. Whatever you had lying out in your tents is still arranged in the same general order you had your things in before. Furthermore, you’re still lying on your camping cots with the same people who fell asleep in the tent with you, but if you decide to get up and investigate, you’ll find two other rooms other than the one you’re in.

Facing the door from the inside, if you look to your left, you’ll find...a bathroom! It’s got a basic toilet, sink, and a bathtub with a showerhead for you to use. There are also enough bath towels for each person hanging on a towel rack. The walls are white but the floor in here is tiled instead of wooden. The room across the bathroom, however, is empty. It has the same wallpaper and flooring as the main room you found yourself in.

It’s a small, comfy place you’re staying in, but the real question is… When did this happen? Only one way to find out.

And sure enough, if you’re awake by nine AM, Tom Nook will rally everyone to Resident Services for his morning announcements.

“Good morning, everyone, and welcome to your first weekend on Isle Sonrisa! As you’ve all probably already noticed by now, we were able to upgrade your tents last night into houses! Don’t worry, there is no fee for this upgrade -- but now you finally have a place where you can decorate your house with all the furniture you were able to get in the mail. For any excess items you may have… Might I suggest a yard sard of some sort, hm?”

He tilts his head a little. He thinks this is a good idea!

“Alternatively, houses all come with storage. There’s a small little storage shed in the back of everyone’s houses that can fit many, many items. If you don’t want to sell your items to me or hand them off to someone else, you can store them inside of there.”

Tom Nook nods his head. “Yes, yes. I’d like to suggest that you all take this weekend to decide how to arrange the items you’ve gotten in the mail...and one more thing about those items: You can put them outside, too. For example, oh, an exercise area might be nice…” He sounds a little wistful when he says it, but promptly shakes his head afterwards.

“Ah-! Before I forget...erm… It seems as though one of our friends has unexpectedly left the island. We don’t know where or how he left, you see...but Heimdall is no longer here. We’re still working on figuring out a way to send you all home, and we’re trying to track him down, too.”

He looks very guilty about that, at least. But the moment passes, and he perks up again, smiling at everyone as best as he can. “Alright, that’s it! You can spend the weekend however you’d like to, but with your new homes being built and all the furniture some of you have received, well… It may be a good idea to work on that, no?”

(OOC: Welcome to your first event log! Any questions can be directed to the FAQ. We will no longer be posting log questions and will be funneling them to the FAQ instead for easier access.

Let us know if you have any questions, as always! NPCing will be available after ~3:30PM EST today.)

Interesting's a word for it.

['a political nightmare i usually have to help clean up' was another.]

What about you? Lot of people go about slaughterin' gods, where you're from?

[personal profile] jokersonyou 2020-07-06 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, it's definitely not a normal human activity. The only people who honestly even knew there were things going behind the scenes of "normal" were my friends and I.

[There was the brief time where Yaldabaoth was merging the world with the Metaverse, but just about everyone had either forgotten it or written it off as some kind of fever dream.]

We didn't exactly go straight into the god killing business, either, not until we really learned the truth of it all.

Always how it goes, isn't it?

['and then it got complicated', story of her life.]
jokersonyou: (69)

[personal profile] jokersonyou 2020-07-07 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Pretty much. One thing leads to another and then you're basically saving humanity's consciousness twice over.
lightsmith: (moment when you understand)

[personal profile] lightsmith 2020-07-07 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Twice, huh?

[adorable]

...This coffee’s really good. I know somebody that’d even be an insufferable twit about it, it’s that good.
jokersonyou: (72)

[personal profile] jokersonyou 2020-07-07 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
The second time was a little more...complicated, but...

[Still fresh in his mind. And still with certain things he's yet to work through.]

Really? I'll definitely take that as a big compliment, then.
lightsmith: (we must one day meet the end)

[personal profile] lightsmith 2020-07-07 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
...Always ends up more complicated than it sounded at first.

[it’s fine they’re fine]

He’s a real picky bastard over coffee. Eventually he’s liable to make a killer magitek menace that doubles as a coffee machine.

[It occurred to her for not the first time that was a smaller timeline difference that she would probably have to try to avoid. Godsdammit, Nero.]
jokersonyou: (71)

[personal profile] jokersonyou 2020-07-07 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
That's for sure.

[100% fine yep. Totally.

His eyebrow raises at that last part, though.]

I'm not sure what magitek is, but putting the words "killer" and "coffee machine" together makes me nervous.

[personal profile] lightsmith 2020-07-07 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Y’know, like...

[She briefly failed to come up with a concrete answer, this clearly being miles out of her area of expertise.]

...airships, machines, big metal things that shoot lasers and have buzzsaws on their arms, things like that?

[‘robots’ is the word she can not think of off the top of her head]
jokersonyou: (63)

[personal profile] jokersonyou 2020-07-07 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Like, killer robots? I've fought a handful of enemies once that were basically that, but in the real world, they're pretty much harmless.

[Slight pause.]

Though with how advanced they're starting to get, I wouldn't completely rule out an uprising in the future.
lightsmith: (in the end i wouldn't care)

[personal profile] lightsmith 2020-07-07 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Robots, yeah, that’s it. [She totally knew that.]

[Laughing a little uncomfortably at the idea of a robot uprising, she quickly hid whatever unsettled look she wore behind her coffee cup.]

Wouldn’t that be somethin’. Good thing it’s not all that likely.

[SURELY NO ROBOT COULD BE SELF-AWARE AND MURDEROUS]
jokersonyou: (72)

[personal profile] jokersonyou 2020-07-07 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
As long as we're careful enough with the AI, we should be fine. Though that's definitely not my field of expertise.

[He hums. Well, this is definitely a conversation.]

No robots here, though, or really, a lot of tech other than these phones. It's definitely a change of pace.
lightsmith: (if it can keep me strong)

[personal profile] lightsmith 2020-07-07 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[IT’S COOL SHE IS SO FINE WITH THIS]

Is it? Magitek’s not really a common thing back home, so you’d find a lot of little outposts and villages kind of like this. Then again, you find a fair few cities of all sizes, too. But we don’t have anything like uh, phones? [yes this is Definitely a word she knows. at least it is now.] Just linkpearls, and those only communicate voices.
jokersonyou: (36)

[personal profile] jokersonyou 2020-07-07 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
That's useful, at least. Before recent-ish, phones back home only had the capability to communicate voices, too. But then we got smart phones. I usually don't use the video chat function on them, but it's nice to know it's there.

[Especially now that he'll be apart from everyone. It'll be nice to still actually see them in some fashion.]
