- The Move-In
You’ve spent the week adjusting to island life by getting to know one another, figuring out what to do with all those presents, gathering your resources and selling them off to Tom Nook. The weekend is finally here, though, and that’s something to celebrate!
...But when you wake up on Saturday, whenever that may be, the environment you’re in is not the tent you remember falling asleep in. Rather, you’re inside of some kind of house with a white wall and ceiling, wood lined across the bottom of the walls. The floor is wood, too, shiny and glossy as the sun rays shine through the one window in your house. Whatever you had lying out in your tents is still arranged in the same general order you had your things in before. Furthermore, you’re still lying on your camping cots with the same people who fell asleep in the tent with you, but if you decide to get up and investigate, you’ll find two other rooms other than the one you’re in.
Facing the door from the inside, if you look to your left, you’ll find...a bathroom! It’s got a basic toilet, sink, and a bathtub with a showerhead for you to use. There are also enough bath towels for each person hanging on a towel rack. The walls are white but the floor in here is tiled instead of wooden. The room across the bathroom, however, is empty. It has the same wallpaper and flooring as the main room you found yourself in.
It’s a small, comfy place you’re staying in, but the real question is… When did this happen? Only one way to find out.
And sure enough, if you’re awake by nine AM, Tom Nook will rally everyone to Resident Services for his morning announcements.
“Good morning, everyone, and welcome to your first weekend on Isle Sonrisa! As you’ve all probably already noticed by now, we were able to upgrade your tents last night into houses! Don’t worry, there is no fee for this upgrade -- but now you finally have a place where you can decorate your house with all the furniture you were able to get in the mail. For any excess items you may have… Might I suggest a yard sard of some sort, hm?”
He tilts his head a little. He thinks this is a good idea!
“Alternatively, houses all come with storage. There’s a small little storage shed in the back of everyone’s houses that can fit many, many items. If you don’t want to sell your items to me or hand them off to someone else, you can store them inside of there.”
Tom Nook nods his head. “Yes, yes. I’d like to suggest that you all take this weekend to decide how to arrange the items you’ve gotten in the mail...and one more thing about those items: You can put them outside, too. For example, oh, an exercise area might be nice…” He sounds a little wistful when he says it, but promptly shakes his head afterwards.
“Ah-! Before I forget...erm… It seems as though one of our friends has unexpectedly left the island. We don’t know where or how he left, you see...but Heimdall is no longer here. We’re still working on figuring out a way to send you all home, and we’re trying to track him down, too.”
He looks very guilty about that, at least. But the moment passes, and he perks up again, smiling at everyone as best as he can. “Alright, that’s it! You can spend the weekend however you’d like to, but with your new homes being built and all the furniture some of you have received, well… It may be a good idea to work on that, no?”

[ You know you want to, Walder. ]

[ Laurent lightly pats the surface of the mini DIY workbench. ]
I'll take six apples to make an apple rug if you're still interested.
[ Since wood seems to be a problem, he figures Walder can always come back later for an apple chair. ]

[He hands over the apples and watches intently!!]

And as if magic has occurred, with the comical dust cloud and all, ta-da! An apple rug!
Laurent hands it over to Walder as if nothing weird just happened. ]
Here you go--one apple rug.

I feel like I understand even less about how that works now...

But it works, and it's convenient. Just don't think about it and save yourself from headaches.

[ And Laurent's just here thinking... how does one live thinking like that their entire life? ]

...
Oh, wait, alchemy is a thing too... maybe this is alchemy?

[ Laurent just wonders what it is the standard before deeming something to be weird. But... ]
I'm not well-versed in alchemy, so I can't really say.
no subject
And I’m not either, but I know a few people who are...?

[ Laurent is an English teacher, and yet.
How does he even imagine that to begin with?? ]

[ He's heard of summoning spirits, undefeated physical strength... tell him your story, Walder. ]

...Oh, and one of my oldest friends is a primal beast, so there’s that too!
no subject
A friend of a primal beast, huh... was it because of your forest ranger skills?

[...he does look a bit pained after that, but man, he really doesn’t want to talk about the bummer stuff...]

I see. As long as you're happy, I think things will be fine.
[ Be happy for your sleeping friend, Walder. ]
Anyway, will that be all? You could always come back later with wood for the apple chair.

[.......]
...oh, yeah, we got kind of off track. I'll be off to get some wood, then!
