- The Move-In
You’ve spent the week adjusting to island life by getting to know one another, figuring out what to do with all those presents, gathering your resources and selling them off to Tom Nook. The weekend is finally here, though, and that’s something to celebrate!
...But when you wake up on Saturday, whenever that may be, the environment you’re in is not the tent you remember falling asleep in. Rather, you’re inside of some kind of house with a white wall and ceiling, wood lined across the bottom of the walls. The floor is wood, too, shiny and glossy as the sun rays shine through the one window in your house. Whatever you had lying out in your tents is still arranged in the same general order you had your things in before. Furthermore, you’re still lying on your camping cots with the same people who fell asleep in the tent with you, but if you decide to get up and investigate, you’ll find two other rooms other than the one you’re in.
Facing the door from the inside, if you look to your left, you’ll find...a bathroom! It’s got a basic toilet, sink, and a bathtub with a showerhead for you to use. There are also enough bath towels for each person hanging on a towel rack. The walls are white but the floor in here is tiled instead of wooden. The room across the bathroom, however, is empty. It has the same wallpaper and flooring as the main room you found yourself in.
It’s a small, comfy place you’re staying in, but the real question is… When did this happen? Only one way to find out.
And sure enough, if you’re awake by nine AM, Tom Nook will rally everyone to Resident Services for his morning announcements.
“Good morning, everyone, and welcome to your first weekend on Isle Sonrisa! As you’ve all probably already noticed by now, we were able to upgrade your tents last night into houses! Don’t worry, there is no fee for this upgrade -- but now you finally have a place where you can decorate your house with all the furniture you were able to get in the mail. For any excess items you may have… Might I suggest a yard sard of some sort, hm?”
He tilts his head a little. He thinks this is a good idea!
“Alternatively, houses all come with storage. There’s a small little storage shed in the back of everyone’s houses that can fit many, many items. If you don’t want to sell your items to me or hand them off to someone else, you can store them inside of there.”
Tom Nook nods his head. “Yes, yes. I’d like to suggest that you all take this weekend to decide how to arrange the items you’ve gotten in the mail...and one more thing about those items: You can put them outside, too. For example, oh, an exercise area might be nice…” He sounds a little wistful when he says it, but promptly shakes his head afterwards.
“Ah-! Before I forget...erm… It seems as though one of our friends has unexpectedly left the island. We don’t know where or how he left, you see...but Heimdall is no longer here. We’re still working on figuring out a way to send you all home, and we’re trying to track him down, too.”
He looks very guilty about that, at least. But the moment passes, and he perks up again, smiling at everyone as best as he can. “Alright, that’s it! You can spend the weekend however you’d like to, but with your new homes being built and all the furniture some of you have received, well… It may be a good idea to work on that, no?”

Do you know why he wants to be one in the first place?
no subject
To get what he wants is all I know.
[ Dokja is that kind of man. ]
no subject
[ We are all That kind of person. ]
no subject
[ Though, to be honest, if that was the only way... Joonghyuk could probably be persuaded to be Idol. ]

Sometimes, people don't have the luxury to choose.
[ Haha.
Anyway. ]
Got a song request?
no subject
[ And then when it doesn't work, you do the thing you don't like. That's how it works, totally. ]
I want a calming song.
[ Which is obvious. ]
no subject
I meant anything specific. I know quite a lot, so feel free to choose.

There is a song called Love Poem.
no subject
People who compose things have a message in mind as they create. Despite the number of languages Laurent will ever learn, none of them will ever force him to be expressive as the common language of music. No matter what song it is--it strikes a chord in most people, regardless of who they are, where they come from and what they feel.
For those who are a little more keen, the music sounds like it gives off a different vibe than the others ones he'd just played despite the variety: the sound is more gentle and solemn. Laurent wouldn't know what went through the composer's mind as they created this song, but it makes him think of several regrets with farewells.
...
He plays the end as a gradual fade. Maybe this has been the most expressive he's been during his stay here. ]
no subject
Is that how you interpret the song?
[ It was sad. ]
no subject
[ For once, it's a straight answer for something that's even considered remotely close to a personal question. ]
How would you interpret it?
no subject
Uplifting. [ Hmm. ] Comforting.
[ That's how he sees the song. ]
no subject
[ He looks a little thoughtful as he plays this one next. He doesn't remember the lyrics to either song, so he wonders if that's why Joonghyuk thinks differently. ]
Is it the lyrics?
no subject
[ And this one... He faintly remembers. It sounds happier than the other song, but the story— ]
This story is bittersweet.
no subject
What do you think of when you listen to it?
no subject
Hope.
no subject
When I think I'm starting to understand how you think, you say or do something that completely throws me off.
[ Moreso because-- ]
I couldn't feel hope in that sort of song.
no subject
Hope can be what keeps your head barely above water. It is what keeps you waking up in the morning even though you know nothing will change. A piece of you thinks it might.
[ This is a lighter version of what he's gone through, really. Made to be relatable. He continues to look out, not looking at Laurent at all. ]
Maybe that day, what you've wanted to see will finally come. Until then, you only have enough space to breathe.
[ Bittersweet. ]
no subject
You don't feel fear to the very core of your being when you have no hope. Fear and envy never existed until he felt hope during a time that has long passed.
Though, remembering that Joonghyuk and Dokja went through many things together, he can't help but wonder. ]
Did you live your life like that?
no subject
[ Joonghyuk can't say all of his regressions were failures, even though he kept regressing. That's all thanks to someone's words, but he tries to push that voice out of his head. Annoying. ]
Hope doesn't always leave you close to drowning. [ When he thinks of the word, he personally imagines a bright star in the sky even though he hates them. ] Sometimes it's the ground under your feet when you're running.
[ He looks up, merely watching the clouds pass by. ]
A life without hope... Would you consider that "living?"
no subject
...
He quietly breathes out a sigh. ]
Would you? Hope is different for everyone.
no subject
[ It's the undeniable truth. Joonghyuk believes through and through that you cannot know someone by just reading the pages of their story. Likewise, he can talk for anyone aside from himself. If it weren't for hope, then he wouldn't be here. ]
But I would rather live with hope.
no subject
Of course, since most people would. It would be even more miserable if it were the contrary.
[ Joonghyuk always says interesting things when it's like this, when he actually speaks anyway. ]
I'll leave you to be persistent on your meditating. If you ever want to listen to a song, let me know and I'll see what I can do in regards to playing it.
[ Basically, feel free to come by for free background music. ]
