- The Move-In
You’ve spent the week adjusting to island life by getting to know one another, figuring out what to do with all those presents, gathering your resources and selling them off to Tom Nook. The weekend is finally here, though, and that’s something to celebrate!
...But when you wake up on Saturday, whenever that may be, the environment you’re in is not the tent you remember falling asleep in. Rather, you’re inside of some kind of house with a white wall and ceiling, wood lined across the bottom of the walls. The floor is wood, too, shiny and glossy as the sun rays shine through the one window in your house. Whatever you had lying out in your tents is still arranged in the same general order you had your things in before. Furthermore, you’re still lying on your camping cots with the same people who fell asleep in the tent with you, but if you decide to get up and investigate, you’ll find two other rooms other than the one you’re in.
Facing the door from the inside, if you look to your left, you’ll find...a bathroom! It’s got a basic toilet, sink, and a bathtub with a showerhead for you to use. There are also enough bath towels for each person hanging on a towel rack. The walls are white but the floor in here is tiled instead of wooden. The room across the bathroom, however, is empty. It has the same wallpaper and flooring as the main room you found yourself in.
It’s a small, comfy place you’re staying in, but the real question is… When did this happen? Only one way to find out.
And sure enough, if you’re awake by nine AM, Tom Nook will rally everyone to Resident Services for his morning announcements.
“Good morning, everyone, and welcome to your first weekend on Isle Sonrisa! As you’ve all probably already noticed by now, we were able to upgrade your tents last night into houses! Don’t worry, there is no fee for this upgrade -- but now you finally have a place where you can decorate your house with all the furniture you were able to get in the mail. For any excess items you may have… Might I suggest a yard sard of some sort, hm?”
He tilts his head a little. He thinks this is a good idea!
“Alternatively, houses all come with storage. There’s a small little storage shed in the back of everyone’s houses that can fit many, many items. If you don’t want to sell your items to me or hand them off to someone else, you can store them inside of there.”
Tom Nook nods his head. “Yes, yes. I’d like to suggest that you all take this weekend to decide how to arrange the items you’ve gotten in the mail...and one more thing about those items: You can put them outside, too. For example, oh, an exercise area might be nice…” He sounds a little wistful when he says it, but promptly shakes his head afterwards.
“Ah-! Before I forget...erm… It seems as though one of our friends has unexpectedly left the island. We don’t know where or how he left, you see...but Heimdall is no longer here. We’re still working on figuring out a way to send you all home, and we’re trying to track him down, too.”
He looks very guilty about that, at least. But the moment passes, and he perks up again, smiling at everyone as best as he can. “Alright, that’s it! You can spend the weekend however you’d like to, but with your new homes being built and all the furniture some of you have received, well… It may be a good idea to work on that, no?”
(OOC: Welcome to your first event log! Any questions can be directed to the FAQ. We will no longer be posting log questions and will be funneling them to the FAQ instead for easier access.

And... that sure is an axe.
And that sure is Laurent not moving to prevent Minato from attacking the wall with it if he chooses to. Surely. ]

The barrier remains intact, as far as any of them can tell. ]

When Minato falls into the water, Laurent pulls him back up with the power of the string that keeps them together aka he just reels him back up. ]
Looks like it won't break. Not even a drill would be able to pierce this thing from what I see.
[ But they have seaplanes here, so that's an assumption that it could bypass the invisible wall, but they're sitting on it right now and it's not letting them through. Not that Laurent wanted to leave anyway, but this sure is peculiar... ]
no subject
Ugh... You can tell just by looking?
[ There's doubt in Minato's voice, because there's no way he can equate a drill to Minato's attempts at hacking his way through it. The other planes are only on his mind, though, and he glances upwards. ]
Might not extend all the up. Or all the way down.

Minato reaches into his knapsack and hands over a rock. Like the sort of rock you'd pick up off the ground, a normal rock, fits nicely into your hand and is easy to throw. Maybe it'll go further. ]

Okay, his arm is tired now and his face relaxes. ]
Maybe if Nook is still on the island, you can ask him about this.
no subject
His arm is already half buried inside his bag to find something else for Laurent to throw ]
You don't want to keep trying?
no subject
My arm's all worn out and it's the better throwing arm too. Why don't you try?
no subject
You have any more apples in that magic pocket of yours?
no subject
Make it count.
[ He hands it over to Minato. ]

It doesn't go as high as Laurent's throw, but it's fast. And hits hard. The apple splits and Minato closes his eyes at the incoming splatter of apple juice he can never escape from, and in doing so fails to get out of the way before the fruit bonks him on the head. ]

Looks like we're not conquering this wall... let's head back.
[ He personally doesn't want to find out if there are consequences from staying at the "border" for too long. ]
no subject
He can always come back another time, maybe with extra rope. ]
Fine... But I'm not giving up on the wall. How am I supposed to defeat a meteor if I'm stopped by a wall?
no subject
[ It's a long way to tell Minato not to give up in the long run, but for now, they should return. ]
I'm sure you'll find a way. If you want me to go again with you, let me know. I'll try to be better prepared next time.
[ Since this was pretty much an impromptu seaplane ride. ]

[ HONESTLY he wants to follow the barrier around and find out everything while he's already out here, but he can't get as far by himself, just left adrift and at the mercy of the winds. But tomorrow... maybe... sometime next week. ]

Bring something that can act as a boat paddle and ask someone for another clothesline or two.
[ Since... he's assuming Minato wants to dive deeper. Laurent will start rowing them back to towards the pier though. ]
no subject
[ Boat paddle... He has a surfboard and a shovel and one of them's got to do. Clothesline he can borrow from his roommates and... he can fill his water canteen with emergency air? idk. He'll bring the fishing spear Kairi made in case of sharks.
Preparations will be made for Monday. ]
