- The Move-In
You’ve spent the week adjusting to island life by getting to know one another, figuring out what to do with all those presents, gathering your resources and selling them off to Tom Nook. The weekend is finally here, though, and that’s something to celebrate!
...But when you wake up on Saturday, whenever that may be, the environment you’re in is not the tent you remember falling asleep in. Rather, you’re inside of some kind of house with a white wall and ceiling, wood lined across the bottom of the walls. The floor is wood, too, shiny and glossy as the sun rays shine through the one window in your house. Whatever you had lying out in your tents is still arranged in the same general order you had your things in before. Furthermore, you’re still lying on your camping cots with the same people who fell asleep in the tent with you, but if you decide to get up and investigate, you’ll find two other rooms other than the one you’re in.
Facing the door from the inside, if you look to your left, you’ll find...a bathroom! It’s got a basic toilet, sink, and a bathtub with a showerhead for you to use. There are also enough bath towels for each person hanging on a towel rack. The walls are white but the floor in here is tiled instead of wooden. The room across the bathroom, however, is empty. It has the same wallpaper and flooring as the main room you found yourself in.
It’s a small, comfy place you’re staying in, but the real question is… When did this happen? Only one way to find out.
And sure enough, if you’re awake by nine AM, Tom Nook will rally everyone to Resident Services for his morning announcements.
“Good morning, everyone, and welcome to your first weekend on Isle Sonrisa! As you’ve all probably already noticed by now, we were able to upgrade your tents last night into houses! Don’t worry, there is no fee for this upgrade -- but now you finally have a place where you can decorate your house with all the furniture you were able to get in the mail. For any excess items you may have… Might I suggest a yard sard of some sort, hm?”
He tilts his head a little. He thinks this is a good idea!
“Alternatively, houses all come with storage. There’s a small little storage shed in the back of everyone’s houses that can fit many, many items. If you don’t want to sell your items to me or hand them off to someone else, you can store them inside of there.”
Tom Nook nods his head. “Yes, yes. I’d like to suggest that you all take this weekend to decide how to arrange the items you’ve gotten in the mail...and one more thing about those items: You can put them outside, too. For example, oh, an exercise area might be nice…” He sounds a little wistful when he says it, but promptly shakes his head afterwards.
“Ah-! Before I forget...erm… It seems as though one of our friends has unexpectedly left the island. We don’t know where or how he left, you see...but Heimdall is no longer here. We’re still working on figuring out a way to send you all home, and we’re trying to track him down, too.”
He looks very guilty about that, at least. But the moment passes, and he perks up again, smiling at everyone as best as he can. “Alright, that’s it! You can spend the weekend however you’d like to, but with your new homes being built and all the furniture some of you have received, well… It may be a good idea to work on that, no?”
(OOC: Welcome to your first event log! Any questions can be directed to the FAQ. We will no longer be posting log questions and will be funneling them to the FAQ instead for easier access.
Let us know if you have any questions, as always! NPCing will be available after ~3:30PM EST today.)

[ He seems perfectly fine with this! ]
Most of my space is for the residents, so I don't need any furnishing. Thank you for asking, though, I appreciate it.

[ -—Actually, the island layout is stupid. He has to say it. ]
Why separate houses instead of a dormitory or something? Everybody could live in the same building. You too.
no subject
But if this is something all of you would be interested in, I'll see what I can do.

I guess I'm not attuned to personal touches... Having my own room was enough for me back home.
[ And he kept it completely empty, walls bare, belongings stowed away in cardboard boxes months after moving in. A house feels wasted on him, mostly, but he can't speak for anybody else. ]
I'd be interested, but... I don't want to make more work for you either. What we have is ridiculous already.
no subject
[ That sounds a little sad, somehow, but Tom Nook won't pry too much about it. ]
Don't worry about the work. This is our first time doing this program, and if this is something that you'd all find more effective, then I'd be happy to let my team know and we'll get it done as soon as possible. It's a learning experience for us as well. Yes, yes.

I'm not going to decorate.
[ That's Theo's and Kevin's jobs (': ]
What's this program about...? I thought all this was meant for somebody else?
no subject
They were meant for any interested parties -- and somehow, we thought those people would be you because of the paperwork we'd received. I'm still not sure what happened there, but...

...I saw them, the passports. There were two other ones- not passports, but, uh. There were pictures, and names. Orville and Wilbur. Did they disappear like Heimdall?

Oh... On the 20th?
no subject
[ He tilts his head. ]
What do you mean on the 20th? It was going to be this week, actually.
no subject
[ It was locked. Maybe Tom Nook wasn't supposed to know either. Surprise birthday party? Maybe Minato shouldn't say anything, oh no. ]
no subject
[ ... ]
What did it say, when you looked at the 20th?
no subject
[ Does Minato want to be the one responsible for ruining Tom Nook's birthday surprise? Oh man. This is tough. ]
There was a star, I think. I don't remember too well if there was anything written there... Do you have time? We can go check. I can go and come back.
no subject
[ He nods happily. ] Yes, yes. I think Wilbur and Orville like to keep track of when meteor showers could possibly happen. I can only guess that they'd have less flights during meteor shower nights, because people would prefer to witness them from the ground...
no subject
[ Infinitely more excited about the prospect of aliens than watching stars fall out of the sky, but meteor showers sound cool too. ]
I've never seen one before... that sounds nice. It'd be too bad if we had to leave before then.
no subject
It would be. The meteor showers here are quite spectacular! Perhaps one will happen before then -- you can never be one hundred-percent sure about these things, after all.
no subject
Do they happen often?
[ Actually-- he thinks back on his conversation with Dokja ]
Is the universe falling apart?

[ Bless Tom Nook, still trying his hardest to protect them. ]
Alright.
