intro log
Whether you were in the middle of battle, on a grand adventure, or simply relaxing somewhere comfortable doesn’t matter. Whatever it was you were doing is suddenly interrupted by time suddenly going still. Everything around you freezes. The rest of the world seems to come to a standstill. The only thing that appears to be in motion is you -- though any temptation to try and figure out what’s going on is suddenly interrupted by the presence of something...small. Something light, like a piece of paper, floating down right in front of you.
A closer inspection reveals that this mysterious piece of paper is actually a ticket of some kind. You can’t quite decipher what it says, but judging by the layout of the text and the clear image of an airplane on it, you can tell that this is a travel ticket.
Not that you have much time to inspect it anyway, because when you reach out and touch it, the world suddenly starts to warp.
- Arrival
You blink, and the next thing you know, you’re falling. You aren’t falling quite as gracefully as that strange ticket was; no, you’re descending very rapidly towards the ground. You can make out that your body is...glowing...a bright shade of yellow, and the ground can either mean the sand on the beach or the ocean itself. Regardless of where you land, the impact is not painful. You can feel the thud or the splash depending on where you end up, but it doesn’t hurt whatsoever.
Those in the water are not far away from shore at all. A quick swim will get you to land! For those of you who can’t swim, well, you may want to consider calling for help, given that you aren’t alone. The glowing seems to have stopped, but you can clearly make out the figures of other people nearby under the moonlight.
The land above the sand is thick with grass and overgrown weeds. There are some bugs here and there (namely tiger beetles) that skitter about, but unless you’re willing to use your bare hands, you don’t have anything to catch them with. For a light source, you can try to make a fire on your own using some twigs lying about from the trees, both apple trees and non-fruit-bearing trees alike, if you wish. Nobody’s stopping you.
There are also assorted tents throughout this part of the island. Each tent has a number on it and a little mailbox to accompany it, and there are eleven total. There’s nothing inside, when you go in, however.
The only other notable thing here is that smack down in the middle of the area you’re in seems to be some kind of man made area. There’s a large rectangle of dirt, and sitting on top of that dirt are three things: A wooden bulletin board with nothing on it, a large green tent with a leaf-like emblem above the opening, and a tall speaker next to the tent. Seems like someone’s been here before. If you step inside of the tent, nobody’s there. It’s completely empty inside, too. Below that tent are two large red tents, one with a "Women's" sign over it and one with a "Men's" sign. There are so many tents.
The airport to the south is locked, and try as you might, the seaplane docked behind it will not start up.
But before you venture too far out, you might want to gather your bearings first and chat with those who’ve been brought here with you. Maybe try to figure out a way to survive the night...assuming help isn’t already on the way.
And maybe some of you might need the help, considering you might not be like how you were before…
The Nook
Some time passes into the night. You’ve met some of the others, maybe did a little bit of exploring and set-up; but moments later, there’s suddenly a little seaplane up ahead. You can hear the plane from wherever you are, and it starts to descend near the airport. It descends rather quickly; you can’t quite see who’s operating the plane, but the passenger door opens.
If you happen to be near the airport, raccoon-like figure emerges from the plane and looks at you expectantly. He’s wearing a white collared shirt with a turquoise leaf-like pattern on it; he also has some khaki shorts on. Finally, he’s got the same emblem on his shirt that the sign above the entrance to the large green tent had. He smiles and it reaches his eyes.
“Ah! You’re all here already, hm? Yes, yes, it’s nice to see you here.” He walks towards the rectangle of dirt, and from his pocket he produces a microphone. Then, he speaks into it, and his voice echoes through the speakers: “Please report to Resident Services near the airport. Thank you.”
Whoever does decide to gather around will be met with an introduction from the tanuki: “Let’s see… First things first, welcome, everyone, to your new island! My name is Tom Nook, founder and president of Nook Inc. This is our first ever Deserted Island Getaway Package experience, so please bear with us while we make adjustments to our program as needed. Now... Today is your first official day -- er, evening on the island. Nook Inc. will always be available to ensure your comfort and safety.”
He then goes on to do roll call. This may take a while, but at least you’ll start learning the names of the other people you’re here with!
“Moving on, I have some camping supplies for each of you that I’ll be delivering to your tents tonight. I do have some assignments for each of you, you see, to ensure that there aren’t some people who are without a place to sleep in…”
Tom Nook then proceeds to read out the tent assignments. Yes, you all have those now, apparently. Hope you get along with your new roommates!
“There will be more announcements for you tomorrow, after you all get a good night’s rest. Yes, yes! Please get to know each other, and I will see all of you at nine AM tomorrow morning.”
A pause, then: “Ah-! Before I get to distributing the supplies, if there are any questions that I can answer now, go ahead and ask them.”
Should you not have any questions, you're free to turn in for the night. Get to know your roommates, arrange your camping supplies when they're delivered to you, and enjoy the sweet tunes on the radio. Or...you can get up to mischief outdoors, too. Nobody's stopping you! This is your island now and you get to do whatever you want.
Isn't that swell?

[The last thing Ren recalled was being seated on a train, eyes gazing out the window while thoughts rushed past in his mind as quickly as the trees and fields he was passing. The conclusion of his year in Tokyo was bittersweet, and though he knew that he and his friends would stay in touch and inevitably meet again, it didn't mean that it was easy to leave the city. Part of him already wonders if he should look into returning there for college. Maybe Sojiro would let him room at Leblanc again. He'd grown fond of that little cafe.
He eventually starts dozing a little, falling into a light slumber, falling... Falling. His eyes snap open when he realizes he's literally falling. Ren doesn't get a chance to so much as let a scream out before he hits the water with a loud splash. Strangely enough, it doesn't hurt in the way he'd expect it to, but it isn't exactly pleasant either to be dunked. He quickly surfaces with a gasp, shaking his head and trying to gather his bearings. By the taste of salt on his lips, it's an ocean. The shore is nearby, so he makes his first priority reaching it.
Ren grimaces a little as he trudges onto the sand, squeezing water out of his clothing where he can reach. Why is he wearing his Shujin uniform again? He definitely wasn't on the train. Mysterious world, different clothing... Is he back in the Metaverse? No, there's no way, and yet... The next thing he notices is that it isn't just his outfit that's changed. While trying to wring the water from his hair as well, his hands brush past big, fluffy ears. He feels the sensation, and after groping at where his ears normally are to feel nothing, he realizes that those are different too. They feel like--no way--he reaches behind him, giving a none too quiet mutter of "what the hell" as he feels a tail there as well.
Different world, different clothes, and he has animal appendages. It just keeps getting better and better.
Once he's gotten as much water out as he can (though he really is gonna have to find a place to dry his socks and shoes, 'cause ugh), Ren begins to wander, trying to find clues as to what in the fresh heck is going on. Crazy things happening to him is nothing new, but everything was supposed to be normal now. Had they all missed something? Maybe Morgana is somewhere here too, since he was snoozing on the train seat next to him last. He'd have a better idea of things. Probably.
He checks out some of the tents, the locked airport, and the surrounding areas. It almost seems like some sort of campground. But that in itself doesn't exactly answer anything. The bulletin board is blank, too. He's equally as baffled at every place he examines.
Help.]
[The Nook]
[By now, he's gotten...a bit of a grasp of what's going on, not that it really makes any sense in the long run. Ren most definitely did not sign up for any of this, and neither did anyone else from the sounds of it, so he's unsure of just how he got here. He'd need to investigate further to figure out the source of this and find a way back home.
But for now, all he can really do is get situated for the time being and meet his fellow kidnapping victims. They seem...pleasant enough for the most part? Though they're all quite confused. He listens more than speaks out when they're all together, and takes a little time to listen to people's conversations with each other after as he gets a grasp of things.
Next is food, as he's pretty hungry, so he'll be attempting to pluck some apples out of trees to various degrees of success.
Once that's all done, he goes to his assigned tent. It seems he'll be sharing it with two others... Well, hopefully they're nice people?]

You okay?

[He keeps forgetting that this is not the Metaverse, even if it's some kind of mysterious place where his appearance has changed. He's Ren, not Joker. With a groan, he stands up, absently rubbing at his back.]
It's just higher than I thought it was.

[Lio does have a few apples in his arms already, so he's clearly good for climbing.]

[ Yeah Dokja was.. kinda watching from a distance away. He seem to be struggling and he felt kind of bad for the teen. So, he holds up a bag with a few of them. ] Take as much as you like.
no subject
It'd be a big help, thanks. I only need two or three. Tomorrow, I'm going to ask that Tom Nook guy exactly what the food situation is supposed to be here, since we can't exactly survive on apples alone.
no subject
True. I did see some other fruit further on the island but other than that, I don't think I've seen any wild animals. [ ... His lips twitch. ] Well, outside Tom Nook himself and some of the others who look the same as him. So it does make you worry about it.
[ Ah. ] But if you meet my companion Joonghyuk Yoo, he's probably able to make a meal out of anything we find.

Rideaux is also standing outside of tent 7, looking at the names in this weird text that he can inexplicably read. (Well, he read his own name, anyway, who knows if these other names are legit since they mean absolutely nothing to him.)
He looks over at Ren, and it seems safe to assume by the fact that he's stopping here that one of these other names belongs to him. ]
Which one are you?
no subject
By the time he gets to tent 7, there's already someone else there. Could he be his roommate? ...Tentmate? Whatever. Ren gives him a nod, pointing to where "Ren Amamiya" is written on the nameplate.]
That's me. Ren Amamiya. Are you staying in this tent too?
no subject
That's right. Rideaux. [ a slight pause ] Don't worry about the last name. [ Who knows how they even managed to fit it on there. ]

I was hoping there would at least be something helpful posted here but... Looks like there's nothing.

[He glances over to her.]
Have you managed to figure out anything yourself yet?
no subject
Not much. I tried to check out the airport, but the door was locked and I couldn't really see anything in the windows. Have you looked around too?

Ren glances up, giving a small nod and smile to the woman addressing him.]
I really do. I seem to have gone from being on a train to splashing into the ocean and gaining cat appendages, and I'm...definitely lost in trying to find an explanation for it.

I hope we can find answers soon. There's something important I have to do. I don't Have time to stay here.

He's not good at initiating conversation, but when he sees Ren and notices the shared animal traits, he finds himself curious.]
Hey, uh... [He awkwardly gestures between his own ears and Ren's.] Did you have these before too?
no subject
To the question, Ren shakes his head, his ears twitching a little.]
Definitely not. I have a cat, but he's the one with the ears and the tail, not me. But now...
[He reaches up, giving one of his ears a gentle poke. It feels so weird.]
Did you sprout yours, too?
no subject
Yeah. [His ears droop a little in response and the long tail twitches in annoyance.] Didn't have a cat back home though, if that matters.
The Nook
... Do you want some help?

Uh... I wouldn't say no.
