intro log

INTRO LOG

Whether you were in the middle of battle, on a grand adventure, or simply relaxing somewhere comfortable doesn’t matter. Whatever it was you were doing is suddenly interrupted by time suddenly going still. Everything around you freezes. The rest of the world seems to come to a standstill. The only thing that appears to be in motion is you -- though any temptation to try and figure out what’s going on is suddenly interrupted by the presence of something...small. Something light, like a piece of paper, floating down right in front of you.

A closer inspection reveals that this mysterious piece of paper is actually a ticket of some kind. You can’t quite decipher what it says, but judging by the layout of the text and the clear image of an airplane on it, you can tell that this is a travel ticket.

Not that you have much time to inspect it anyway, because when you reach out and touch it, the world suddenly starts to warp.

    Arrival

You blink, and the next thing you know, you’re falling. You aren’t falling quite as gracefully as that strange ticket was; no, you’re descending very rapidly towards the ground. You can make out that your body is...glowing...a bright shade of yellow, and the ground can either mean the sand on the beach or the ocean itself. Regardless of where you land, the impact is not painful. You can feel the thud or the splash depending on where you end up, but it doesn’t hurt whatsoever.

Those in the water are not far away from shore at all. A quick swim will get you to land! For those of you who can’t swim, well, you may want to consider calling for help, given that you aren’t alone. The glowing seems to have stopped, but you can clearly make out the figures of other people nearby under the moonlight.

The land above the sand is thick with grass and overgrown weeds. There are some bugs here and there (namely tiger beetles) that skitter about, but unless you’re willing to use your bare hands, you don’t have anything to catch them with. For a light source, you can try to make a fire on your own using some twigs lying about from the trees, both apple trees and non-fruit-bearing trees alike, if you wish. Nobody’s stopping you.

There are also assorted tents throughout this part of the island. Each tent has a number on it and a little mailbox to accompany it, and there are eleven total. There’s nothing inside, when you go in, however.

The only other notable thing here is that smack down in the middle of the area you’re in seems to be some kind of man made area. There’s a large rectangle of dirt, and sitting on top of that dirt are three things: A wooden bulletin board with nothing on it, a large green tent with a leaf-like emblem above the opening, and a tall speaker next to the tent. Seems like someone’s been here before. If you step inside of the tent, nobody’s there. It’s completely empty inside, too. Below that tent are two large red tents, one with a "Women's" sign over it and one with a "Men's" sign. There are so many tents.

The airport to the south is locked, and try as you might, the seaplane docked behind it will not start up.

But before you venture too far out, you might want to gather your bearings first and chat with those who’ve been brought here with you. Maybe try to figure out a way to survive the night...assuming help isn’t already on the way.

And maybe some of you might need the help, considering you might not be like how you were before…

    The Nook

Some time passes into the night. You’ve met some of the others, maybe did a little bit of exploring and set-up; but moments later, there’s suddenly a little seaplane up ahead. You can hear the plane from wherever you are, and it starts to descend near the airport. It descends rather quickly; you can’t quite see who’s operating the plane, but the passenger door opens.

If you happen to be near the airport, raccoon-like figure emerges from the plane and looks at you expectantly. He’s wearing a white collared shirt with a turquoise leaf-like pattern on it; he also has some khaki shorts on. Finally, he’s got the same emblem on his shirt that the sign above the entrance to the large green tent had. He smiles and it reaches his eyes.

“Ah! You’re all here already, hm? Yes, yes, it’s nice to see you here.” He walks towards the rectangle of dirt, and from his pocket he produces a microphone. Then, he speaks into it, and his voice echoes through the speakers: “Please report to Resident Services near the airport. Thank you.”

Whoever does decide to gather around will be met with an introduction from the tanuki: “Let’s see… First things first, welcome, everyone, to your new island! My name is Tom Nook, founder and president of Nook Inc. This is our first ever Deserted Island Getaway Package experience, so please bear with us while we make adjustments to our program as needed. Now... Today is your first official day -- er, evening on the island. Nook Inc. will always be available to ensure your comfort and safety.”

He then goes on to do roll call. This may take a while, but at least you’ll start learning the names of the other people you’re here with!

“Moving on, I have some camping supplies for each of you that I’ll be delivering to your tents tonight. I do have some assignments for each of you, you see, to ensure that there aren’t some people who are without a place to sleep in…”

Tom Nook then proceeds to read out the tent assignments. Yes, you all have those now, apparently. Hope you get along with your new roommates!

“There will be more announcements for you tomorrow, after you all get a good night’s rest. Yes, yes! Please get to know each other, and I will see all of you at nine AM tomorrow morning.”

A pause, then: “Ah-! Before I get to distributing the supplies, if there are any questions that I can answer now, go ahead and ask them.”

Should you not have any questions, you're free to turn in for the night. Get to know your roommates, arrange your camping supplies when they're delivered to you, and enjoy the sweet tunes on the radio. Or...you can get up to mischief outdoors, too. Nobody's stopping you! This is your island now and you get to do whatever you want.

    Isn't that swell?

A. Twinkle, Twinkle
[Wishing upon a star is a grand tradition, meant to give hope, uplift spirits, and maybe, just maybe, actually grant the wish.

Unfortunately for everyone involved, Alexis Rhodes is not a star, despite what she looks like right now. And how quickly she's falling to earth. Or... sea, as the case may be. She lands facefirst in the water with a loud splash, and-

Normally, Alexis would regard this situation with no small amount of irritation but manage fine in the water. After all, she's lived on an island... all... her... life? Yeah, that sounds about right. However, something deep inside her is protesting very loudly to suddenly being dunked in water, overriding her normal instincts with incredible panic.

So here she is, yelping, yowling, hissing, and most importantly flailing in the water and looking for all the world like she's about to drown.

Maybe you could help her out?]

B. Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V Episodes 118-121
[One moment, you were strolling through the forest, most likely confused by this whole ordeal but ultimately minding your own business.

The next, a shadow flew out of the trees, pounced on you, pinned you to the ground, and started screaming questions in your face.]

Where are we? Who are you? Why are you doing this? Where's Sartorius? Where's Jaden? Why am I part-cat? Answer me or I'll...

[Alexis had reared her hand back in preparation for... something, but her instincts are caught between curling her hand into a fist for punching and flexing to bring out her newfound claws. Her momentary confusion gives you an opportunity to escape!]

C. Chaos (Tent), Chaos (Tent) - CLOSED TO TENT 11
[After a long, long night, it's natural to want to go into the room—or tent—that's been provided to finally get some rest.

Unfortunately, somebody seems to have found Tent 11 first.

And she is not keen on sharing.

Alexis's head pops out of the tent and she scowls at the newcomer.]

Go away. I'm not sharing my tent with dweebs like you.

[Looks like some negotiations might be in order, unless you feel like spending the night outside.]

[ ...What was this? Well, the snappy harsh attitude isn't entirely surprising but definitely unexpected. Would Lee Jihye be the same way? He can't help wonder distantly as he stares back at her. Twenty-eight years old and he's getting treatment like this from teens of all ages. ]

Well, [ Seriously, dweeb? ] according to Mister Nook we all have to share these tents. I've already seen how much room it has so there's no reason not to. [ A tent the size to home five people? Definitely enough room. ]

It'd be in your best interest if you don't try to isolate yourself from everyone else. We're all in the same predicament after all. [ Yet, he's definitely looking to Tent number two. Maybe he should go there after all. ]

the short tag seemed appropriate

Don't care.

Go sleep on a branch.

[ What's the worst she can do? Sighs even still, this is more of a hassle than he wants to deal with. ]

After a long day, I don't really feel like it.

Suck it up, dork.

[And just like that, the tent zips closed, and...

...

Is she trying to barricade the tent door?]

I--

[ What. Is he seriously getting bullied away from a teenager? For a moment, he just listens to the sounds behind the zipped opening. .. ... ..?

After a moment, he decides he's actually too tired to argue when he knows that one way or another Yoo Joonghyuk is coming here or he's heading to tent two. So he just. Leaves! Without another word. Good luck, angy teen! ]

[Her only response is a quirked eyebrow.]

Byleth.

[...]

I was under the impression we didn't have much of a choice in the matter in regards to sharing. There are two other people besides us listed for this tent.

[She doesn't mind sleeping outside--prefers it, even!--but it's the principle of the thing!! She's not letting herself get bossed around by a teenager.]
winterforecast: (Default)

[personal profile] winterforecast 2020-06-29 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. You don't get a choice in sharing this tent with me.

It's mine
rupturingheaven: (12)

[personal profile] rupturingheaven 2020-06-29 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
That's not how this works. The tent's not solely yours. There's four of us listed and I highly doubt the other two will want to sleep outside.

[Ohhhh, goddess grant her patience...]

And furthermore, I'm not taking orders from you. Perhaps you should sleep outside if you want to be alone so badly.
winterforecast: (>:<)

i am so so sorry for her

[personal profile] winterforecast 2020-06-29 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
Finders keepers, dweeb.

[Aaaaand then they close the tent flap.

And... barricade it?

Really?]
rupturingheaven: (04)

tbh I feel like I should apologize too

[personal profile] rupturingheaven 2020-06-29 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
Byleth. And again, not how it works.

[The unfortunate thing about tents is that the flaps can be accessed on both sides.

So she's just going to open the flap and get a look at what's being used to barricade it.]
winterforecast: (Vengeance Incoming)

Re: tbh I feel like I should apologize too

[personal profile] winterforecast 2020-06-30 10:40 am (UTC)(link)
[A bunch of fairly sturdy-looking branches and sticks, though it's obviously amateur work. Byleth could probably build a better barricade out of the same material in her sleep. Alexis hisses like the cat she is, eyes dilating and hackles raised, although... there's something token about her resistance here.]

I told you to get out!

[...yeah, that one's not with nearly as much feeling as before.]
rupturingheaven: (02)

[personal profile] rupturingheaven 2020-06-30 10:51 am (UTC)(link)
And I told you that I'm not taking orders from you.

[Yeah, the barrier's not gonna do much to keep Byleth out, especially considering she's already working to dismantle it. She's perfectly calm as she works.]

What's your name, anyway?

[There's... two names from the list that could potentially belong to this girl and Byleth isn't about to make a fool of herself guessing.]
winterforecast: (>:<)

[personal profile] winterforecast 2020-06-30 10:54 am (UTC)(link)
[After a moment of hesitation, Alexis huffs and looks away, arms crossed.]

Alexis Rhodes.

...why do you even care?

[She's offering a significant lack of resistance as Byleth takes apart the barricade, despite her earlier protests.]
rupturingheaven: (08)

[personal profile] rupturingheaven 2020-06-30 11:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Progress! Once the barrier's disassembled, she slips into the tent, carrying the branches and sticks, which she just...

... deposits to the side? Alrighty then.

She closes the flap behind her.]

Practicality reasons, first and foremost. I'd get tired of having to address you as 'hey you' and I imagine you wouldn't care for being called that consistently yourself. Coexisting should at least be tolerable for as long as we're stuck here, yes?

Why do you expect me to know the answer to all those questions?

[Because she's pinned to the ground, she doesn't move or even decide to act like her usual, preppy self, just staring at Alexis with cold eyes, her voice full of indifference. She isn't even going to even move when she gets distracted, just eyeing her until she makes her next move.]

Re: b

Even if you did, you're less likely to get any actual real answers from pressuring anyone and asking all those questions at once without letting the other party have a single word in.

[personal profile] livefreely 2020-06-30 10:59 am (UTC)(link)
[She smiles, but it's not as enthusiastic of one that she'd normally put on. It's something a little softer.]

Of course. I'm not stupid, after all.

[After all, she's done this song and dance more often. If she wanted something, all she had to do was play up to the expectations of the other people. Be the kind of person that they'd like, that would make things easy.]
winterforecast: (Resignation)

[personal profile] winterforecast 2020-07-01 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Alexis, suddenly very aware of her position, scuttles off of Iori, crosses her arms, and huffs for the umpteenth time that day.]

So I'm guessing you have about as much information as I do?
livefreely: (pic#13400142)

[personal profile] livefreely 2020-07-01 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
[Her answer is calm, steady:]

Pretty much. For now, anyway.
winterforecast: (>:<)

[personal profile] winterforecast 2020-07-01 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Ugh! [Alexis would pull at her hair in frustration, but her newfound cat instincts have too much respect for her luxurious coat to do that.] Then how am I supposed to find out what's going on and get back home? Nobody here knows anything no matter how much I threaten them!

[Alexis, you're pouting. That really isn't helping your image.]
livefreely: (pic#13400166)

[personal profile] livefreely 2020-07-01 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
You're honestly not doing a good job at threatening, if you ask me.

[Her voice is unamused in the slightest bit, an obvious frown on her face.]

If that's not working, maybe you need to try something different.
