intro log

INTRO LOG

Whether you were in the middle of battle, on a grand adventure, or simply relaxing somewhere comfortable doesn’t matter. Whatever it was you were doing is suddenly interrupted by time suddenly going still. Everything around you freezes. The rest of the world seems to come to a standstill. The only thing that appears to be in motion is you -- though any temptation to try and figure out what’s going on is suddenly interrupted by the presence of something...small. Something light, like a piece of paper, floating down right in front of you.

A closer inspection reveals that this mysterious piece of paper is actually a ticket of some kind. You can’t quite decipher what it says, but judging by the layout of the text and the clear image of an airplane on it, you can tell that this is a travel ticket.

Not that you have much time to inspect it anyway, because when you reach out and touch it, the world suddenly starts to warp.

    Arrival

You blink, and the next thing you know, you’re falling. You aren’t falling quite as gracefully as that strange ticket was; no, you’re descending very rapidly towards the ground. You can make out that your body is...glowing...a bright shade of yellow, and the ground can either mean the sand on the beach or the ocean itself. Regardless of where you land, the impact is not painful. You can feel the thud or the splash depending on where you end up, but it doesn’t hurt whatsoever.

Those in the water are not far away from shore at all. A quick swim will get you to land! For those of you who can’t swim, well, you may want to consider calling for help, given that you aren’t alone. The glowing seems to have stopped, but you can clearly make out the figures of other people nearby under the moonlight.

The land above the sand is thick with grass and overgrown weeds. There are some bugs here and there (namely tiger beetles) that skitter about, but unless you’re willing to use your bare hands, you don’t have anything to catch them with. For a light source, you can try to make a fire on your own using some twigs lying about from the trees, both apple trees and non-fruit-bearing trees alike, if you wish. Nobody’s stopping you.

There are also assorted tents throughout this part of the island. Each tent has a number on it and a little mailbox to accompany it, and there are eleven total. There’s nothing inside, when you go in, however.

The only other notable thing here is that smack down in the middle of the area you’re in seems to be some kind of man made area. There’s a large rectangle of dirt, and sitting on top of that dirt are three things: A wooden bulletin board with nothing on it, a large green tent with a leaf-like emblem above the opening, and a tall speaker next to the tent. Seems like someone’s been here before. If you step inside of the tent, nobody’s there. It’s completely empty inside, too. Below that tent are two large red tents, one with a "Women's" sign over it and one with a "Men's" sign. There are so many tents.

The airport to the south is locked, and try as you might, the seaplane docked behind it will not start up.

But before you venture too far out, you might want to gather your bearings first and chat with those who’ve been brought here with you. Maybe try to figure out a way to survive the night...assuming help isn’t already on the way.

And maybe some of you might need the help, considering you might not be like how you were before…

    The Nook

Some time passes into the night. You’ve met some of the others, maybe did a little bit of exploring and set-up; but moments later, there’s suddenly a little seaplane up ahead. You can hear the plane from wherever you are, and it starts to descend near the airport. It descends rather quickly; you can’t quite see who’s operating the plane, but the passenger door opens.

If you happen to be near the airport, raccoon-like figure emerges from the plane and looks at you expectantly. He’s wearing a white collared shirt with a turquoise leaf-like pattern on it; he also has some khaki shorts on. Finally, he’s got the same emblem on his shirt that the sign above the entrance to the large green tent had. He smiles and it reaches his eyes.

“Ah! You’re all here already, hm? Yes, yes, it’s nice to see you here.” He walks towards the rectangle of dirt, and from his pocket he produces a microphone. Then, he speaks into it, and his voice echoes through the speakers: “Please report to Resident Services near the airport. Thank you.”

Whoever does decide to gather around will be met with an introduction from the tanuki: “Let’s see… First things first, welcome, everyone, to your new island! My name is Tom Nook, founder and president of Nook Inc. This is our first ever Deserted Island Getaway Package experience, so please bear with us while we make adjustments to our program as needed. Now... Today is your first official day -- er, evening on the island. Nook Inc. will always be available to ensure your comfort and safety.”

He then goes on to do roll call. This may take a while, but at least you’ll start learning the names of the other people you’re here with!

“Moving on, I have some camping supplies for each of you that I’ll be delivering to your tents tonight. I do have some assignments for each of you, you see, to ensure that there aren’t some people who are without a place to sleep in…”

Tom Nook then proceeds to read out the tent assignments. Yes, you all have those now, apparently. Hope you get along with your new roommates!

“There will be more announcements for you tomorrow, after you all get a good night’s rest. Yes, yes! Please get to know each other, and I will see all of you at nine AM tomorrow morning.”

A pause, then: “Ah-! Before I get to distributing the supplies, if there are any questions that I can answer now, go ahead and ask them.”

Should you not have any questions, you're free to turn in for the night. Get to know your roommates, arrange your camping supplies when they're delivered to you, and enjoy the sweet tunes on the radio. Or...you can get up to mischief outdoors, too. Nobody's stopping you! This is your island now and you get to do whatever you want.

    Isn't that swell?

1. Turnabout Splish Splash

"NGHOOOOOOH!"

If anyone's listening, they might hear a terrified scream from one of the falling things that ends when it splashes down into the ocean. Edgeworth flails around, coughing and sputtering. It's not that he can't swim, it's just that none of this had been expected. At all. He had been working, and reached for that piece of paper that had fluttered down from nowhere, and now this?! Oh, he hates it. He hates it so much.

He also feels more weighted down than his clothes might account for, but he's not going to think about that much. Instead, he looks around for land and proceeds to swim towards the only island around. Thank God it's not far.

2. Turnabout Survivor

Once Miles has reached land, he does his best to squeeze the water out of out his jabot (at least) and dust the wet sand off of his suit (a lost cause). He's twitching, something about him is twitching. His leg? No, not his leg. Unimportant. What's important is finding civilization, and fast.

It doesn't take long to find something, at least - some dirt tamped down, with a bulletin board, a speaker, and a few tents. They're all empty, and the fact that there are tents delineated for women and men (clearly bathrooms) makes the hair on the back of his neck stand up. This seems...very bad.

There are smaller tents, too. Tents with nameplates. He stops cold when he sees his own name on one.

What the hell is happening?

3. Turnabout Fursuit

Suddenly, a voice rings out from the speaker, and Miles proceeds towards the plaza, ready to see who their jailer is. He catches sight of the aloha-shirt-wearing jailer as he walks, and it's...a raccoon? Preposterous. It must be someone in some kind of fursuit. (He had a case involving furries one time. Never again.)

His scalp twitches, and he reaches up to scratch it. And up. And...up?

What? His butt twitches again. He reaches for it. And it's got a noodly appendage. Or, to put it more normally, a tail.

His ears twitch. His tail twitches. His nose twitches and he reaches for it (tiny nose fuzzy face oh no oh God) and he looks at his hands. No fingers. Just beans.

"NGHOOOOOH!"

Turnabout Fursuit

For once in her (recent) life, Alexis is feeling moderately sympathetic towards someone else's plight. At least she's only part-cat, she can only imagine the kind of nightmare this extremely fancy newly-dubbed kitty must be going through.

Not that she's ever going to show her pity.

Instead, Alexis snorts, her own tail twitching in response.

"Cold tip," because that's still her schtick, darnit, even if she doesn't have her deck or disk on her, "you're going to want to stay away from the water. It's... unpleasant."

"I could have told you that," Miles says, his tail (tail!) lashing. "I landed in it." Okay, so he's a little testy right now. Can you blame him?

"Even as a...non...cat...I can imagine getting suddenly dunked in the ocean from the stratosphere wouldn't be fun." He eyes the other person's feline features. "I assume you didn't have those before you got here."

is this leaning on the fourth wall a little too hard yes is it funny also yes

[personal profile] winterforecast 2020-06-28 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah. Ugh." Alexis's ear twitches, and her scowl somehow deepens. The ambient glare that appears to be her resting face could rival Franziska's. "I look like a character from one of Sy- Syrus's animes that he's so obsessed with. This sucks!"
turnaboutson: (Thinking // chatvert)

leaning on the fourth wall is cool and good

[personal profile] turnaboutson 2020-06-28 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"Be thankful that you're not...this." He holds up his hands paws and shows off his toe-beans. Finger-beans? Whatever. "It's extremely undignified." And this is a man who's all about dignity.

Alexis hisses through her teeth when she sees Miles's adorable beans. "Yeah. That's... rough. At least I still have fully opposable thumbs."

Just rub it in, why don't you?

[personal profile] turnaboutson 2020-06-28 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"I still seem to have opposable thumbs, of a sort," he says, and gives a thumbs-up with what would be considered a dewclaw on a normal cat. "However, it's still...fuzzy." And cute. He is not cute. He should not be cute!

"Count yourself lucky, then." Alexis shakes her head, sighing.

"...have you been tripping over your tail too?"

Normally Alexis wouldn't admit to such a thing, but at least this guy could understand her pain.

"No, because I haven't been thinking about it. I'm sure I will now, though." He makes a face. It's like a 'don't think of pink elephants' kind of thing.

His ear twitches. "And I'm going to have to get used to that, too, unless someone can find a way to fix this." He smacks at the offending ear, as though that'll keep it from reacting to tiny sounds in the wilderness.

"Now I'm wishing they had earplugs for cats. Maybe that would stop my urge to run down and hunt small prey whenever I hear them in the woods."

She may have eaten a bug. Or two.

[While everyone who's washed up on this island seems a little distressed to say the least, the sudden near-scream not far off from him definitely takes Ren aback. He jumps a little in surprise, turning to see...

A cat. A cat dude. A full grown man, except, a cat? Uh. Either that's the most convincing fursuit he's ever seen (not that he makes a habit of seeing them), or this guy drew the shortest straw of them all.]

Are you...okay?

[Obviously not, but it's polite to ask!]

[personal profile] turnaboutson 2020-06-28 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[Miles Edgeworth has never been okay in his life.]

Do I look okay?!

[Deep breaths.]

I'm a cat. I'm a cat. Why am I a cat? I'm not supposed to be a cat. [He grabs his tail and yanks it, seeing if it'll come off. Unsurprisingly, it does not, and he winces...and nearly falls over. Cats use their tails for balance, idiot.]
jokersonyou: (57)

[personal profile] jokersonyou 2020-06-28 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oof.]

Well, I can empathize a little bit. I definitely don't usually have cat ears and a matching tail normally. Still, I...uh... I guess I lucked out, seeing what happened to you. No offense. Maybe this is just temporary?
turnaboutson: (Default)

[personal profile] turnaboutson 2020-06-28 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
It damn well better be, [Edgeworth mutters.]

Do you have any idea why this happened to us? Or how? I was just at my desk before I picked up some kind of paper that I thought fell out of a file, and the next thing I knew I was plummeting into the ocean.
jokersonyou: (52)

[personal profile] jokersonyou 2020-06-28 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't have any more idea than you do, unfortunately. The last thing I remember, I was heading out of Tokyo on a train. There was a paper, too, but I didn't think it was much of anything. And then I was falling into the ocean, just like you.

[He hums, looking thoughtful. There has to be some kind of explanation.]

Maybe that piece of paper was a sort of portal, and touching it was the trigger of us being teleported here.
turnaboutson: (Thinking // chatvert)

[personal profile] turnaboutson 2020-06-28 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[He almost scoffs. Almost. Magic definitely isn't real. Never mind that he's seen channeling. Never mind that he used Wright's magatama and saw the psycholocks and even broke some of them. ...okay. Magic is a little bit real. But a ticket as a portal? That absolutely beggars belief.]

We both touched mysterious papers before arriving; I find that too unusual to be a mere coincidence. A portal, though?

[His tail swishes as he frowns, deep in thought. It can't be possible. But how else are they here? Aside from two options: a. this is a dream; or b. this is mass hysteria.]
jokersonyou: (13)

[personal profile] jokersonyou 2020-06-29 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
A portal of some sort, I'm guessing, with that paper being the key. It brought us here from wherever in the world we were, and...well. Changed us, too.

[Really, dude, he feels for you. That cannot be super comfortable.]

I guess we're about to get some answers from whoever just called us over.

"...Wow. I'm kind of wondering what kind of story's behind this one."

Heimdall's voice came as he watched the man come closer to land. He's closeby too, though the short indigo-haired male was rather amused by these turn of events. Granted, such misfortune could've happened to him, but it didn't at the moment, so...not his problem.

[By this time, Milla had already dealt with swimming out of the water and drying up again, but it looked like someone needed assistance. She hurried in to try to help him to shore. Once they were safe on land, she started to wring out her very long hair once again.]

Are you okay?
