The Meteor Shower

On Monday, there are, in your mailboxes, passports for those who happened to not pick them up when the airport opened. Hold onto these--they’re important, after all! Open them up, and you’ll find not only a title, your name, and your hometown, but you’ll also find…

A blank page? That’s right. There’s a page in the back of the admittedly small passport with only one thing on it: a space that looks like it has room for a star stamp. Huh. That’s strange, isn’t it? There are no hints as to what it could be about, but maybe the announcement will shed some light.

There’s also, like last week, a familiar face around the island… it’s Audie! Come around to her house to say hi--she’s very excited to be here, and very fashionably dressed as she strolls around the island.

And like clockwork, at nine AM, Tom Nook makes his announcement once more:

“Good morning, Isla Sonrisa! A few things this morning. Please give a warm welcome to our new neighbor, Audie!”

Audie smiles and waves at you all with both paws--she’s pretty flattered at the warm response. Tom Nook continues--

“We have for you the ability to build bridges now! Yes, yes, these will prove very useful indeed. Of course, you will most likely have to work together to figure out the best places to put these bridges, as we have only a limited number… But I am sure working together will be little trouble for you all! The only thing to note is that each bridge will come with a construction fee of 15,000 bells each. Consider working together to get some bridges up and running...?”

He pauses, and the next part comes with some measure of almost… not quite dismay, but there’s a certain cloud over the tanuki: “It also seems Iori and Mira have also left the island… Again, we’re looking into it, and should any discoveries come to light, I will tell you immediately.”

He nods to himself, and continues on--

“Next, I’d like to tell you all we have a very special event tonight… a meteor shower! Yes, yes, starting at 7 PM, we will have clear skies and many stars to wish upon. Who knows--maybe your wishes will all come true!” He says that with a bright smile, almost like he really believes it… Or maybe that’s just his quiet optimism? Anyway, he continues--

“Finally, I’d like to thank you all for your hard work in making items for our new friends! Yes, yes, you all have been working so hard to create furniture and items for our housing plots, but this week, I invite you all to put your best DIY skills to the test! There are no specific style requirements in mind, but please make sure our potential new friend has:

1 Table
2 Dressers
1 Clock
2 Chairs

Of course, if you’d like to make more, I am sure our friend will not be opposed…” He pauses, and seems to remember something! “Ah, yes, we are very close to opening our museum… I am sure Blathers would appreciate any bugs, fish, or fossils regardless! Hmm… Yes, that is all I have for you! Thank you once more for your hard work, and have a wonderful day!”




Possible Objectives

1. Help Tom Nook prepare a housing plot for the last villager house.
2. Donate more specimens to Blathers.
3. Attend the meteor shower, if you so desire. There may be some secrets waiting for you...
4. Make a money pool for some bridges.

That's a very high tier of healing capabilities... Healing would be impressed.

[ Yeah, there's a Concept for healing too. ]

She could patent it and make some miracles in the health department. Though, I wish I could send this medicine over too. I imagine wasp nests would be in shortage.

[ Death, Healing, the End.. Concepts certainly have particular names, don't they? ]

Of course she had a very limited supply. But, it really had its uses. [ Imagine if it wasn't limited? A good deal. ] How fortunate this world-line seems to have no shortage of wasp nests. I think the other day I saw Zeke run into five nests back to back.

[ It's like secret agent code names... except dumber and more straight to the point. ]

Five nests... that's some ugly luck rearing its head at him. Though, for someone like Zeke, I'd imagine he would catch all the wasps and tame them with his net.

[ Like a certain other protag he knows. ]

[ Is it really a secret at that point. ]

Oh he got stung. I watched it happen. [ Dokja interfering with that? No way. He didn't want to become the new target. ]

Yoo Joonghyuk on the other hand.. he's the type to probably catch them with his hand if he didn't have his net out.

[conceptualize]

[ Laurent thinks back to when Joonghyuk literally crushed a scorpion with his bare hands, but getting stung by it at the same time. ]

That's so easy to imagine.

[ He laughs a little. ]

A scorpion was flying at him and he crushed it with his bare hands. It was...

[ How should he say this-- ]

... very macho.

Is that what happened?

[ Of course Dokja was there at the house when Joonghyuk came back to the house apparently carried by Laurent after an encounter with a scorpion. However, he did not know the full story. ] ..That does not surprise me.

[ Macho? Yoo Joonghyuk? Dokja almost laughs... almost. It's kinda true. But also that guy sometimes was just dramatic. ]

[conceptualize]

[ Laurent snickers a little. ]

Hey, Dokja... does Joonghyuk have a thing for ropes?

[afterword]

Not that I'm aware of. ..Though he did consider using Minato's belt to tie me up when we arrived the first week.

[ pikagasp ]

[conceptualize]

I think... maybe you should talk this out with him. Unless you're into that already.

[ Yeah. ]

--I have no idea what you're thinking, but I assure you whatever it is, it isn't that!

How can you say that if you have no idea what I'm thinking?

[ Laurent looks kinda smug here. ]

An instinctual feeling.

[ Apparently. ]

You must have some powerful instincts, Dokja.

[ Hm... Joonghyuk is bound to come back though. Let him think. ]

Don't you have anything in your pockets that can help you escape in case you're tied up again?

The perks of living in a world leading to apocalyptic ruin.

[ Or, y'know, having a cheat sheet more or less. ]

I don't, but chances are he might not. Not when someone can easily cut me down again. At that point, it's such a hassle? So I wouldn't worry about it.

[conceptualize]

In case he does, you could always shove an item within the rope to expand it to loosen it.

[ Pocket items are very handy for utility, like how he used the screen to separate the two during the bamboo fight. ]

Because I feel like he would have the persistence.

[afterword]

That was the backup plan.

[ For a moment, he starts to pull what looks to be a fishing rod? Not a flimsy one, but the more durable version and wiggles it a little. Until he pushes it back into his pockets. ]

But if he found out I got myself out rather than someone else helping me, the next time I'm tied up might be without some of my clothes. [ He didn't want to test those chances, so better to play a little dumb. ]

[conceptualize]

Then that would be more along the lines of a very humiliating punishment...

[ Keep your clothes on?? Please?! He had to tell Minato this and he doesn't want to tell that to Dokja too. ]

[afterword]

[ He wants to keep his clothes on! Please do not assume he wants to be naked!! ]

Which is exactly why I left it to someone else to free me. [ Dokja already suffered enough punishment time, thank you very much. ]

[conceptualize]

[ There's a thoughtful hum as Laurent looks at Dokja. Surely, the storage in the house spits out people, but no people have actually tried to put a person inside their pocket, have they?

There seems to be a glint in his eyes as he stares af Dokja for a bit. ]

I respectfully decline.

[ No. Whatever it is? No thank you. He just wants to sit here quietly. ]

[conceptualize]

It'll be fun.

[ He said this last time, and Dokja was dragged into smooch or dare... ]

Past experience may suggest otherwise.

[ Smh. ] Tell me what the idea is first then I'll consider it.

[ Straight up. ]

[ For a moment, Dokja just. Laughs. Because it's funny?? Then it hits him. ]

Oh, you're serious. [ Now he takes a moment to ponder. ] Well, we can fit live fish and insects in our pockets...

[ And it isn't as if Dokja hasn't had experience holding tiny people in his own pockets. ] I suppose it's worth a try?
