Week 4
Weather: Monday AM & PM - Clear Skies; Tuesday - Thursday AM Cloudy, PM Rainy; Friday - Clear Skies
- The Meteor Shower
On Monday, there are, in your mailboxes, passports for those who happened to not pick them up when the airport opened. Hold onto these--they’re important, after all! Open them up, and you’ll find not only a title, your name, and your hometown, but you’ll also find…
A blank page? That’s right. There’s a page in the back of the admittedly small passport with only one thing on it: a space that looks like it has room for a star stamp. Huh. That’s strange, isn’t it? There are no hints as to what it could be about, but maybe the announcement will shed some light.
There’s also, like last week, a familiar face around the island… it’s Audie! Come around to her house to say hi--she’s very excited to be here, and very fashionably dressed as she strolls around the island.
And like clockwork, at nine AM, Tom Nook makes his announcement once more:
“Good morning, Isla Sonrisa! A few things this morning. Please give a warm welcome to our new neighbor, Audie!”
Audie smiles and waves at you all with both paws--she’s pretty flattered at the warm response. Tom Nook continues--
“We have for you the ability to build bridges now! Yes, yes, these will prove very useful indeed. Of course, you will most likely have to work together to figure out the best places to put these bridges, as we have only a limited number… But I am sure working together will be little trouble for you all! The only thing to note is that each bridge will come with a construction fee of 15,000 bells each. Consider working together to get some bridges up and running...?”
He pauses, and the next part comes with some measure of almost… not quite dismay, but there’s a certain cloud over the tanuki: “It also seems Iori and Mira have also left the island… Again, we’re looking into it, and should any discoveries come to light, I will tell you immediately.”
He nods to himself, and continues on--
“Next, I’d like to tell you all we have a very special event tonight… a meteor shower! Yes, yes, starting at 7 PM, we will have clear skies and many stars to wish upon. Who knows--maybe your wishes will all come true!” He says that with a bright smile, almost like he really believes it… Or maybe that’s just his quiet optimism? Anyway, he continues--
“Finally, I’d like to thank you all for your hard work in making items for our new friends! Yes, yes, you all have been working so hard to create furniture and items for our housing plots, but this week, I invite you all to put your best DIY skills to the test! There are no specific style requirements in mind, but please make sure our potential new friend has:
1 Table
2 Dressers
1 Clock
2 Chairs
Of course, if you’d like to make more, I am sure our friend will not be opposed…” He pauses, and seems to remember something! “Ah, yes, we are very close to opening our museum… I am sure Blathers would appreciate any bugs, fish, or fossils regardless! Hmm… Yes, that is all I have for you! Thank you once more for your hard work, and have a wonderful day!”
Possible Objectives
1. Help Tom Nook prepare a housing plot for the last villager house.
2. Donate more specimens to Blathers.
3. Attend the meteor shower, if you so desire. There may be some secrets waiting for you...
4. Make a money pool for some bridges.
Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday / Friday

What exactly did you tell him? [ That warrant that kind of response? ]
no subject
[ Laurent chuckles and looks up at the sky. ]
You want to hear it too? Or would you hear it from Joonghyuk? I personally don't mind either way anymore.
no subject
[ Which does include you now, Laurent. ]
I would rather hear your story from you.

[ Laurent stretches his arms out in front of himself and lets them down, his hands on his lap. He might as well tie in what he was gonna say at the afterparty too.
It's a story under the stars. ]
I come from a pretty normal place, or at least that's how it's perceived by many, many people. There's a single entity that controls most of the world's functions, but it eventually got too stressful, so the entity decides to gradually split a function from itself, one by one, and either create an existence to have the function fit them, or convert an already living existence to make the function fit. We call them Concepts. The ones who received the function don't get a choice in the matter. For me, it happened and I wasn't even aware that I changed until my friend, who was already a Concept, told me. That's Death, the one I told you about before.
I became "End", and many other Concepts waited for someone like me. They also wanted an End. However, since I was a newly converted Concept, maturity only happens with time, and I couldn't do anything grand.
[ Like... ah, yes. ]
Ending the world with the blink of an eye? I can't do that yet. However, I did make mundane use of what I could do, which was ending a headache someone was suffering from when I touched their forehead.
[ What Laurent wants to say, is that the "end" isn't always so bad. ]
no subject
Of course, something like the End sounds more closer to a Disaster. He leans back in the bench but keeps his gaze leveled with his friend. Of course, it didn't matter who they were- everybody seeks the end. Though this person before him is quite literal in the sense. An official end to everything... ]
Are all Concepts like that? Needing to mature with their power. [ His head tilts at he takes in this new information. ] I take it isn't so easy to stop being a Concept either.
[ A hand curls to his lips as he starts to ponder. Yoo Joonghyuk wants to save him.. he can see why. When someone was forced to be something... if they decided they no longer want to be.. Biyoo comes to mind. ..Ah. It makes sense. That guy is a little soft when you least expect it. ] I can imagine how terrible for some of these to fall into the wrong hands. I can't help but wonder, how are people chosen? Why were you chosen?
[ Was it because of his connections to a Concept already? ] ..I'm not too sure what the exact thought that guy had, but once he sets his mind to it there's little that can be done to change it. So, I'm sure we might be able to figure something out if that's what you want.
[ If he wants to be saved. ]
CW: SUICIDAL IDEATION
[ Yeah... ]
Most existing Concepts already matured. After maturation, the only way to die is if the Concept wants to die, they find a suitable replacement, and make another convoluted method to die. After a Concept's death, they no longer exist as anything--no soul left behind, nothing. Not even Death can do anything about that. There's another thing after maturation... and that's knowing everything related to your function in the world.
[ Laurent doesn't want to live the rest of his immortal life after maturation, knowing that something has ended somewhere, whether that be a family's ties, someone's life, someone's happiness... It would be like an endless stream of pinged messages inside his mind that he'd be forced to acknowledge every single moment of his life.
Therefore, he's never really been scared of death threats. Concepts before maturation would still be allowed to die under normal means. Hopefully, Dokja would understand all that. ]
One Concept is in the middle of doing that, actually. The problem is that he dragged other Concepts and unrelated people into it and is destroying the world in the process. One of those people is my friend. The other Concepts have made a game out of it--selecting a human to give them powers to aide them in eliminating the Concept who's wrecking everything.
[ He breathes out. ]
... I didn't want to play, but because I tried interfering nevertheless to save my friend, I was imprisoned. Then they had this great idea to use me for their own needs, so they would be content in keeping me imprisoned until I mature and end the things they want.
[ Laurent looks down. ]
I'm not sure if I'm the one that needs saving in the end, actually. I've never succeeded in trying to save others. My friend didn't deserve dying every week. If anyone needs saving, I'd rather it be him.

So it's hard to just pass on the Concept mantle, unless you hadn't mature yet like Laurent here. No soul, huh... There does push one theory aside. However, it also makes him wonder, thinking of two figures that may be able to still do something despite it. Even if Laurent's knowledge of Death could do nothing about it.. there was the structure of his own world, a story was not without a soul.
However, that's combining two completely different stories. Still so far he's been able to understand the not so hidden explanation within Laurent's words. ..In the end, there's always some sort of entertainment to an end, forcing others to play a game as not to completely involve themselves. It's almost laughable.
As those words come to an end, he finally lifts the hand curled before his mouth to reply. ] In that case, what's saving one more? The world Yoo Joonghyuk and I reside in works in a particular way but.. [ ... ] I can figure it out. I don't know how long it will take.. but I can do it. [ So, they can save them both then. ]
[ Of course, Laurent could very well say how impossible it is, but Yoo Joonghyuk wants to save him. And from what he's gotten to know of Laurent until now, he doesn't want someone to be trapped in a story that was forced upon them. Even if it means confronting the writer of that story.

It's that irritating yet unsure feeling again that rises from within him--hope. It feels like a roller coaster ride each and every time. ]
You must be quite the master schemer, Dokja...
[ ... ]
... I'll believe in you.

[ A hand raises to pat the other man's shoulder, soon pushing himself up to his feet and glances back out with a distant thought. Then he looks back at him with a smile. ]
Just hang on until then. [ He gives a small wave afterwards, heading towards the rivers with a vaulting pole in hand. He's got a certain someone he needs to go find now. Fighto, Laurent. ]
