Week 4
Weather: Monday AM & PM - Clear Skies; Tuesday - Thursday AM Cloudy, PM Rainy; Friday - Clear Skies
- The Meteor Shower
On Monday, there are, in your mailboxes, passports for those who happened to not pick them up when the airport opened. Hold onto these--they’re important, after all! Open them up, and you’ll find not only a title, your name, and your hometown, but you’ll also find…
A blank page? That’s right. There’s a page in the back of the admittedly small passport with only one thing on it: a space that looks like it has room for a star stamp. Huh. That’s strange, isn’t it? There are no hints as to what it could be about, but maybe the announcement will shed some light.
There’s also, like last week, a familiar face around the island… it’s Audie! Come around to her house to say hi--she’s very excited to be here, and very fashionably dressed as she strolls around the island.
And like clockwork, at nine AM, Tom Nook makes his announcement once more:
“Good morning, Isla Sonrisa! A few things this morning. Please give a warm welcome to our new neighbor, Audie!”
Audie smiles and waves at you all with both paws--she’s pretty flattered at the warm response. Tom Nook continues--
“We have for you the ability to build bridges now! Yes, yes, these will prove very useful indeed. Of course, you will most likely have to work together to figure out the best places to put these bridges, as we have only a limited number… But I am sure working together will be little trouble for you all! The only thing to note is that each bridge will come with a construction fee of 15,000 bells each. Consider working together to get some bridges up and running...?”
He pauses, and the next part comes with some measure of almost… not quite dismay, but there’s a certain cloud over the tanuki: “It also seems Iori and Mira have also left the island… Again, we’re looking into it, and should any discoveries come to light, I will tell you immediately.”
He nods to himself, and continues on--
“Next, I’d like to tell you all we have a very special event tonight… a meteor shower! Yes, yes, starting at 7 PM, we will have clear skies and many stars to wish upon. Who knows--maybe your wishes will all come true!” He says that with a bright smile, almost like he really believes it… Or maybe that’s just his quiet optimism? Anyway, he continues--
“Finally, I’d like to thank you all for your hard work in making items for our new friends! Yes, yes, you all have been working so hard to create furniture and items for our housing plots, but this week, I invite you all to put your best DIY skills to the test! There are no specific style requirements in mind, but please make sure our potential new friend has:
1 Table
2 Dressers
1 Clock
2 Chairs
Of course, if you’d like to make more, I am sure our friend will not be opposed…” He pauses, and seems to remember something! “Ah, yes, we are very close to opening our museum… I am sure Blathers would appreciate any bugs, fish, or fossils regardless! Hmm… Yes, that is all I have for you! Thank you once more for your hard work, and have a wonderful day!”
Possible Objectives
1. Help Tom Nook prepare a housing plot for the last villager house.
2. Donate more specimens to Blathers.
3. Attend the meteor shower, if you so desire. There may be some secrets waiting for you...
4. Make a money pool for some bridges.
Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday / Friday

[Something is wrong with Alexis.
Well, something is always wrong with Alexis. Between her perpetual huffy mood, general rudeness, propensity for violence, with the list going on, most residents of the island would be hard-pressed to find something that isn't wrong with Alexis.
But that's just it.
Today, she's walking across the island in an almost dreamlike state, not glaring at whoever passes her by, and weirdly enough keeping to herself.
Then she bumps into someone.
At this point, it's common sense to prepare oneself for a tirade when Alexis accidentally collides with another resident. But instead, she murmurs,]
Sorry, [flinches as if she didn't expect that to come out of her mouth, shakes her head, and hustles away.
What on Earth is going on with her?]
Sanctuary (Closed to Sonico)
[On Friday night, somebody knocks on Sonico's door.
It's Alexis, and she looks... almost scared.]
no subject
Oh, Alexis! How are you? Want to come in?
no subject
I'm not good, actually.
[Alexis shuffles inside, looking... conflicted would probably be the best word. For a few moments, she's silent. Then:]
I remembered.
All of it.

[Sonico runs to the washroom and back, now with nothing on her hands, and hugs Alexis.]
Is it bad?
no subject
[Alexis sighs, clinging tight to Sonico.]
I had a life, Sonico. I wasn't always just some- cultist.
But that Alexis, she feels like... a completely different person.
Like whoever I am replaced her.
no subject
That's not too bad though, sure, you were different, but that doesn't mean you're a bad person now.
no subject
She just can't anymore.]
But I am!
I was such a jerk to all of my friends who were just trying to help me break out of that stupid Sartorius's mind control and even now I can't say that I regret it!
I just...
I...

Alexis has been acting... off since this morning and she's concerned.]
... Alexis, wait.
no subject
[Alexis seems... melancholy?
Is that an emotion she's even capable of feeling???]
no subject
[THIS IS A NEW AND ALARMING DEVELOPMENT...]
no subject
[Alexis sighed, slumping.]
...do you have any ideas what it's like to realize that you knew absolutely nothing about yourself before just a couple of months ago, then the memories of the rest of your life hit you like a truck?
no subject
[She reaches over to rest her hand on Alexis's shoulder.]
Do you want to talk about it?
no subject
Taking a few deep breaths, she calms down and looks away, running a hand through her hair.]
I knew absolutely nothing about my life when I arrived here, and the worst part is that I didn't even realize.
And now...
[She clenches her fists and laughs, bitter.]
Would you believe me if I told you I was the student council type? All smiles, all laughter, putting up with everything with maybe a few witty remarks to blow off steam...
Gah!
I don't know whether to hate her or to envy her!

It's a lot gentler than the last time he's handled her. ]
What are you scheming?
[ That is totally what Alexis is doing—though, he's keener on that something happened to her to make her this weird. ]
no subject
Now let go of me. I'm finally leaving you alone, so can you do me a favor and do the same? [She tugs at his grip, trying to break free.]
no subject
Something happened to you.
[ He'll at least let go. ]
no subject
But it isn't that easy.]
Wishing upon a star is bad for your health sometimes, I guess.
[She isn't... running away, at-]
I'm sorry.
[WHAT.
Alexis winces and has to practically force the words out, and there's only a fraction of sincerity behind them... but it's still a fraction.]
Dunking me in the river was uncalled for, and I should at least get to kick you in the shins once for that, but the multiple attempts on your life were... kinda... extreme...
[It looks like it physically pains her to say those words, but they also bring her some small amount of catharsis.]
no subject
... All the attempts you made after I dropped you into the river are deserved. Don't think they weren't.
[ Because he 100% would do that to anyone who humiliated him in such a way, so he reassures her. Validating ire and vengeance may not be. Good? But knowing you deserve better is important. The apology overall is well-received, however. ]
I can teach you.

That.
Is a large fish. It's larger than Emporio! How is he carrying this Ocean Sunfish???] Huh?
[He cannot see her, at all.] It's alright. Um...Alexis, right..?
no subject
Could you move?
...please?
[WHO IS THIS IMPOSTOR.]
no subject
It's hard to see around this fish... [He's trying very hard to find a path around, trust him.] ...Are you sure you're alright? ...You said please...
no subject
I'm fine, Emporio. Really.
[WHY IS SHE SMILING. WHY DOES IT LOOK GENUINE.]
no subject
Okay... ...If you have to talk to someone though, make sure you do ok? If you want, I have time now even- I have to get this fish to the museum, and walking and talking isn't that hard.

Now if you'll get out of my way, I have things to do.
[Alexis has been aimlessly wandering the island in a fugue for hours. She clearly does not have things to do.]
