Weather: Saturday and Sunday AM - Clear skies, PM - slightly cloudy

Saturday rolls around, and the long-awaited fashion show is finally here! To the right of the resident services building is a long, white carpet that runs the entire length of the resident services area. There are studio lights set up behind each chair, creating a theatrical atmosphere. On each side are lines of white chairs, though the two closest to the microphone at the top of the runaway on both sides have flower crowns on them to indicate the guests of honor. There are enough seats for everyone on the island (including Tom Nook and his crew), and there isn’t any assigned seating. Anyone’s free to grab any chair they’d like.

Label herself is standing at the microphone, and she nods at everyone when everyone’s been seated.

“Hello, everyone.” She gives an encouraging smile to everyone. “I’m glad you all came. Welcome to Isla Sonrisa’s first ever fashion show. We’re hoping you have a good time, too; we’re all looking forward to seeing what you have to show off. First, though, I’d like to introduce you to the other judges.”

Seated at a table are three others: a blue hedgehog; another hedgehog--this one, dark red; and… a wolf? That’s a wolf for sure, with a pair of sunglasses perched atop her head.

“I’d like to present Mabel--” She gestures to the blue hedgehog, who smiles brightly and widely and waves with both paws. “--Sable,” Label says, gesturing to the other hedgehog, who seems much shyer, but no less pleased to be here. “--And Audie,” Label says, and the wolf waves and smiles brightly--it rivals Mabel’s own smile!

“We’re all very pleased to be here, and we hope you’ll have fun today. Good luck to all of our participants.”

Despite her slightly subdued demeanor, she smiles encouragingly again, and takes her seat next to Audie, across of the other two hedgehogs!

After the introductory speech, the fashion show begins. K.K. Disco plays from the speakers, and Mabel calls up each contestant one by one to walk down the runway and strut their stuff. It’s a fun fashion show, and Mabel, Sabel, Audie and Label are all writing down their notes on what appear to be score cards.

Once everyone’s had a chance to strut their stuff and the judges have had a while to deliberate, Mabel returns to the microphone and clears her throat.

“Wow, everyone! You all had some really incredible outfits! We really love what you all brought to the runway, and we have our winners! In third place is… Emporio! Your suspender outfit really looked snappy! In second place is Sylvando! That summery look really captures the spirit of the season.”

She pauses, as if for dramatic effect.

“And finally, our winner... is Zeke! Your bathrobe was a little unconventional, but it combines fashion, function, and comfort! Congratulations to all our winners, and please make sure to pick up your prizes from our table!”

Those prizes are: First place, an item from Label's fashion line and 10,000 bells. The runner-up receives a voucher worth 5,000 bells. The third place prize is a voucher worth 2,000 bells. Everyone who participated gets 1,000 bells!

On Sunday, there's a celebration of the fashion show at Resident Services! There are tables set up with refreshments -- sweets and desserts of all kinds -- and a water cooler with drinks. Balloons sit on each corner of the area, and there's music playing in the background. The Able sisters and Audie are there by the time you arrive.

Audie seems to be wandering around outside of the party at times, looking at the homes and admiring the trees and decorations scattered throughout the island. She seems very curious about the island and may have a couple of questions for anyone who approaches.

Mabel and Sable seem to be discussing something of importance. There's a lot of nodding, a lot of glancing up and around the island, and then there's a delighted smile on Mabel's face at some point. She may also have some questions for you all, too, when she and Sable are done talking.

Otherwise, feel free to enjoy the party and continue your business on the island as always!

[ It's got a nice brim to hide your face when your bangs are pinned back and you can't do the same thing like Minato can with his. Plus, he remembers holding onto it for her since a while back, and there's no reason not to just let her have it now. ]

It was alright. It looked like a lot of people had fun, so I had a good time seeing that.

[ Watching other people being happy makes him happy, like he'd mentioned before. ]

Was it fun for you?

[ She isn't surprised to hear that he had fun seeing everyone enjoy themselves, and she smiles again at that. ]

It was. The dessert was really nice, and I had a lot of fun with everyone. It's nice to see everyone have fun.

[ Kaede looks down at her hands in her lap. ]

I hope we have more opportunities to have parties like that.

[ Dessert meant lots of carbs, so Minato can admit he was pretty glad about that too, even if he feels like he wants to take a two week nap now. ]

Mm... It's not like we need an excuse to have these sort of parties. But, I know that something really special is going to happen tomorrow night, so you have that to look forward to.

[ Her eyebrows raise in surprise, even though it's kind of hard to see under the hat. ]

Really? What is it?

[ Her reaction makes him laugh a little, a soft huff under his breath. ]

Are you sure you want spoilers? The surprise might be greater the longer you wait. Though I guess Tom Nook will make some sort of announcement in the morning anyways...

[ She can't help but pout a little, torn between wanting to know now or wait. ]

Geez, you're making it hard to decide! I want to know, but if you think the surprise will be worth it...

The decision's up to you.

[ Sorry! He refuses to help. ]

Either way, I thought it'd be nice if we could see it together.

[ Her pout turns into a smile at that. ]

I would like that a lot. You know, I think I'll wait for the surprise! It'll be more special that way.

[ He did end up helping, at least indirectly. ]

[ The smile grows on his face too. ]

Great. Then, it's a date.

[ ... ]

Kidding. I sorta always wanted to say that. Like a line from a movie.

Eh?

[ Her cheeks immediately turn pink and her eyes widen in surprise. The surprise leaves her when she hears the rest, though, and she smiles a little. ]

It sounds pretty cool, right?

[ Kaede pauses. ]

Thank you, by the way. I was thinking a little bit too much about everything.

[ Maybe he shouldn't have taken it back, but he's more than fine with moving along too. ]

Well... I'm here for you whenever you need me. I'm great at distraction. Watch this-

[ He digs around in his pocket and pulls out a magic kit, picking the deck of cards up and setting the rest of the kit aside. He shuffles the deck and fans them out, face down. ]

Pick a card.

[ Minato just keeps surprising her, as her eyebrows raise once again when he takes out the magic kit. He certainly is great at distraction, because now she's excited to see what he's going to do. ]

Okay!

[ She eagerly places a finger down on one of the cards. ]

Should I take it?

[ He shakes his head, letting his gaze flicker down to the chosen card but then looks back up at Kaede. ]

Just memorize what it is. Then, I'm going to shuffle the deck and find it by magic.

[ She picks it up, memorizing the card—2 of diamonds—before putting it back into the deck. ]

Okay, I've memorized it!

[ Nodding, Minato takes the deck back and shuffles it over his knee three times before turning it around so the cards face him. He goes through the cards one by one, staring at each face in turn, until he comes to the ten of clubs and holds it up to show Kaede. ]

Is this your card?

[ She smiles a little. ]

Ah... not quite.

[ She fully believes he can get it on the next try though! ]

Oh.

[ Hmm... He places the card back and keeps going through the deck, eyes flickering up to meet Kaede's again and then back down. ]

...This one.

[ Six of diamonds. ]

[ Kaede holds her breath, hoping he picks the right card. When he does it, she let it out and smiles encouragingly. ]

You're really close!

[ Ooh, encouraging. He sifts through the cards a little quicker this time, and stops at the seven of diamonds. Hotter or colder? This is no longer magic, maybe. ]

[ It's definitely no longer magic, but Kaede's still having fun. ]

...You were closer before.

[ Mm... He goes back through the cards he'd overlooked, and pulls out the six of hearts. ]

Ah... further away now.

[ Maybe she should give a hint. ]

You had the right type earlier.

[ He looks at the cards he'd already pulled out and goes over the verdicts in his mind.

10 of clubs is no good.
6 of diamonds is very close.
7 of diamonds is not as close.
6 of hearts is even worse.

He takes his time to find and pull out five cards, laying them all out in a row: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 of diamonds. ]

It's one of these?

[ Kaede nods, excited. ]

Yup! It's right in that row! Now you're super close.

[ 20% chance of getting it right on the first guess...

He starts from the left and hovers his hand over 1 of diamonds, quickly glancing up at Kaede without touching it. ]
