Weekend 2 Log
Weather: Saturday and Sunday AM - sunny with a nice breeze, PM - cool weather with clouds
Saturday
Before Tom Nook does his morning announcements on Saturday, you might notice something different about one of the structures around you. Those of you who can hear well may listen to the curious sound of an engine running in the near distance. Walk towards the source of the sound, and you’ll see two things:
1) The airport door is fixed.
2) Someone is inside the seaplane.
Should you enter the airport, you’ll find… a dodo sitting at the desk. Huh. You haven’t seen this particular bird here yet… Regardless, when he notices you all, he perks up and looks downright excited.
“Hey, hey, hey! Welcome to your one and only gateway to the skies, the Isla Sonrisa Airport! Wow, there are a lot of you! I’m Orville, and I’ll be taking care of your flight arrangements. Hey, Wilbur, get out here and meet these fellas!”
And another dodo comes out from the back of the airport--or, rather, where you’d expect the plane is docked. He seems a little more serious than the other dodo, but he gives a wave all the same, looking at you through his shades.
“You all are the ones we’re taking to the mystery island, right? Nice to meet you. I’m Wilbur. We’ll give you more details tomorrow. We’re still setting up here.”
Wilbur and Orville, the dodos in charge of the airport… try not to think about it too hard. Anyway, the dodos are here to help you out… by taking you to a “mystery island,” it seems.
Before you head out to board the plane, Orville gathers you all into the lobby of the airport. He has an explanation!
"Now, you've gotta be wondering why we've called you all here. There's something special about this island you'll be spending the day at! There's someone who's looking for a change of pace, an island paradise home, and it's up to you to ask them if they'd like to stay! You guys helped prepare that housing plot, right? Can't leave it unoccupied for much longer after all that hard work! Board the plane and soar into the sky right to your potential new neighbor! ... Tomorrow!"
...Well, now that you know what you have to do, how will you prepare?

Sunday
On Sunday, before you take off on your mystery island tour, Tom Nook asks everyone to meet at Resident Services again. This time, though, it’s Blathers who has something for you. Remember those containers with the tools during your first week here? Those are back out, but this time, you’ve got two new things: Ladders and vaulting poles. You’ll also notice that your DIY Apps now have DIYs for both of these things! How convenient.
Now that you’re properly equipped to go on your mystery island tour, Wilbur and Orville will escort you onto the seaplane. They need to make two trips, as the max capacity of the plane cannot fit everyone inside; but should you choose to go to the island, you’ll find something very, very interesting. Wilbur is your pilot, and will also be around to assist you while you explore this mysterious island.
The island is populated with bamboo trees! Well, would you look at that! Here’s something you haven’t seen yet. The trees are tall and the leaves are gently swaying in the wind. Should you chop at these bamboo trees, you’ll get bamboo pieces or young spring bamboo. There are even bamboo shoots to be dug up—either for a snack or to plant back home.

There are two tiers to the island—a ground level and a little cliff that you can climb up onto. The island also has rocks for you to mine, trees for you to shake, and bugs and fish for you to catch if you need them. And, pleasantly surprising, there are coconut trees to harvest fruit from: eight of them, four on either shore, with two coconuts per tree. There are also plenty of shells to collect on the shore. What’s missing is that there are no balloons, DIY bottles, or fossils to be found here. All of this can be seen from the aerial view of the island.
There is one other thing that stands out, though: On the left hand side of the island near the beach is a campfire...along with some movement. You can’t quite discern who this may be, but it seems like you aren’t alone on the island after all.
Landing will allow you to do whatever you desire with this island. You aren’t coming back here, after all. Just be mindful of the other visitor who’s here. They may be up for a chat — but there’s only one way to find out.

(OOC: Welcome to your second event log! Any questions can be directed to the FAQ. Since we have two separate prompts for you, we'll be separating this log by days.
NOTE: You do not have to recruit the mystery villager! This is completely optional and we will leave it up to you guys. We're flexible and can mold the game around your decisions!
NOTE-NOTE: You are also free to not board the plane for the island tour if you wish! You're free to hang out at your home island and do work there, too.
Let us know if you have any questions, as always!)

After all, isn't this how you talk?
[ Through the clashing, even if this is with bamboo rather than swords. Even though back home, one of them could have seriously died. From the fight during the War, from the fight before with the haunting memory of the Prophet.. Moments where they could have talked was instead clashed between them. In those occasions it was always the idea and thought that he knew who Yoo Joonghyuk was.
Of course all he has his wits at this point, he can ramble or pick certain words to try and ease up a winning. How satisfying it would be to win him in a fight even as childish as this. But it's definitely bringing up some memories now. Which is why the next things he says are said more quietly, looking straight into those darken eyes. ] You can open your heart to me, Yoo Joonghyuk.
I'm always listening.
no subject
... You didn't listen to me before.
[ Maybe Joonghyuk is playing along, but Dokja should be familiar with his words. He should know all the times he told them his plan, then also chose not to tell. Every single truth he gave was paired with a lie... Joonghyuk has forgiven him for those times, but it still annoys him to hear those words from that mouth.
Joonghyuk uses force to break their pressed bamboo poles, then begins his onslaught. He swings as he steps forward and it's relentless as his dark eyes intensely glower. ]
I've told you enough. What difference will it make?
[ How will you change things, Kim Dokja? Is Laurent enjoying this rather weirdly charged bamboo stick fight? ]
no subject
...
Yet, he feels a little strange about just watching. It gives him a somewhat bitter taste in his mouth, but he tries to effectively ignore it. He shakes off the feeling and goes to gather some other people for them to watch with him.
He's still watching so don't throw sand at each other's faces.
That remark with Serval will come up before my next tag, so feel free to have them react if they hear it. ]
no subject
[ It's as he said. Sometimes he'd give them an idea, other times he would sneak in a lie, but if he didn't do what he did.. who would they have lost in cost of it? Who would have made it to the end? Who wouldn't have?
His lips twitch at the force, having no choice but to move back because of it and he quickly finds he's unable to recover it. Especially as Yoo Joonghuyk gives him no breathing room. He quickly holds the bamboo to parry one swing, meet another, and then finds another almost having him loose grip. His fingers tighten on the length of it, keeping his footing in place as he slides a swing of his own in retaliation. ]
Maybe it won't change anything. Even so, I want.. [ Another swing, putting more force behind the smack. This Yoo Joonghyuk before him that he hasn't read in text. ] I want to know--
[ "No. Actually, they really love each other."
--His swing is suddenly weak, blinking as ears flicker wildly and he does the mistake of looking over at the pair of them. Huh?! ]
no subject
To those swings, Joonghyuk pauses in his steps to block and parry them, having all intentions to go back to his assault, but... Then Dokja gets distracted. Quickly, he takes advantage of it and points the dull end of his bamboo pole at his throat.
And gently taps it. Pay attention to him. Not them. ]
As usual, you talk too much.
[ The bamboo twirls between his fingers and behind his back as he brings it into both hands again. Bringing the pole to the floor, he darts a short distance forward for an upswing. ]
You have to show me.
no subject
You should have tapped under his chin right after.
[ lol ]
no subject
No, at his throat goes to show exactly the kind of person Joonghyuk is. A breath exhales, his ear flickering forward with the other as he proves he's only paying attention to the man before him. The one mistake was to pay attention to anyone else even if this is a mock fight.
"You have to show me." It's such a thing for the protagonist to say. But, the grip on the bamboo tightens, and takes a quick leap back the moment the other pair of feet push off from the ground. His bamboo raises to deflect the upswing, but his grip isn't firm enough that the bamboo flies up into the air with a quick spin. Damn. Even so, he doesn't look like he's in trouble. Instead he jumps up, going as far as to use the other's pole as a stepping chair to reclaim his bamboo pole before covering hiss moment of vulnerability by striking downwards.
Wow, it's like he actually knows how to fight. ]
no subject
... Dokja really does know how to fight. Sometimes Joonghyuk forgets that with the amount of throwing himself into the enemy Dokja tends to do. He blocks the descending strike, buckling his knees to prepare for the impact. It forces him steps back, but he circles over to Dokja once he lands to try attacking him from behind.
If only he would relent. Unfortunately, Joonghyuk still has his strength, his stamina, his endurance, and he can fight all day if he had to. Stats only determine if he can kill someone in one hit or not. Maybe it's best if Dokja says something that will stun him soon. ]
no subject
He gets out a coconut, splits it with an axe and starts drinking the contents while watching. It's the island's version of popcorn.gif. ]
no subject
If not less, depending on the turn of events. He's already starting to work up a sweat. He's surprised as Joonghyuk circles around, quickly turning to try and keep up with him. But, even if he doesn't have what it means to keep going forever, he does have the problem of talking too much.
So, his mouth opens and: ] ■■■■■ ■■■■■ ■■■■ ■■■■ ■■■■.
[ :) ]
no subject
Emotions are overwhelming him... Only a few people can strike Joonghyuk's his rather fragile core with words alone. ]
no subject
It really is Kim Dokja who has the leash, doesn't he... he nibbles on some of the coconut while staring at the fight.
Well, it's not like words were forbidden, so he'll let it slide. ]
no subject
Because he knows Joonghyuk will react late. Which is why he raises the bamboo high up after and... lightly taps the top of his head just once. Before it's replaced with his hand that almost fondly ruffles black hair. ] Sorry, was that too much?
[ Yeah, he's done fighting now. Did Dokja win? Or did Joonghyuk? Who knows. ]
no subject
If he was all wolf, he'd be growling, definitely. Quickly, he snatches that hand by the wrist and glares him down. ]
Kim Dokja.
[ Joonghyuk grips onto that wrist tighter and tighter. It's just a hair from being painful. ]
no subject
Please don't do that--at least while you're here.
no subject
Even so, he meets it on as though he deserves this punishment. Unable to stop the flinch as that grip tightens, becoming visibly aware of the almost crushing grip. For a moment, Dokja wonders if he's got the strength to break his wrist like this. It's a fleeting thought as a screen appears between them suddenly and he takes a step back with wild blinking.
He looks over, dawning how much he paid attention to Yoo Joonghyuk in their spar that.. right. ]
Oh, Laurent. [ Laughs sheepishly. ] Sorry, may have gotten a bit carried away there.
no subject
Time to angy by himself in some corner of bamboo island like the brat he is. ]
no subject
You really shook him up, huh... since you know him best, do you think it's better to leave him alone?
no subject
Yeah. If I followed after him, it'll only aggravate him more. He held himself back just then. [ After that, he looks to him. ] We'll leave who won up in the air.
no subject
[ Laurent gets out a coin--a small amount of bells. This is also to stall for time until yjh gets far enough to set up the scenario. ]
no subject
[ Joonghyuk will not be happy but sometimes he never is. And with that, he gestures for Laurent to follow him.
It's probably a minute or two until Laurent may recognize that they're.. technically walking in a circle? Uh. ]
..You don't happen to have a map of this mystery island, do you?
no subject
"I can just lead you to where he is"... huh.
[ Sorry, he's laughing a little. ]
We didn't get a map, but we're back where we started. Where do you think he went? To the beach?
no subject
[ Straight up bad sense of direction, no sugarcoating it. ]
If there's rocky platforms on the beach, probably there. He must have gone to meditate.
no subject
[ Laurent looks down at the coconut he ditched before walking with Dokja in circles. They're back where they started, and Laurent has a general idea where is what when they walked around earlier, so--]
I think I remember seeing a big rock near the beach. Maybe he'll be sitting there and brooding.
[ Not meditating. Either way, Laurent will start leading the way. ]
no subject
Or he could be meticulously planning murder. His expression seldom changes, after all. ]
