Weekend 2 Log
Weather: Saturday and Sunday AM - sunny with a nice breeze, PM - cool weather with clouds
Saturday
Before Tom Nook does his morning announcements on Saturday, you might notice something different about one of the structures around you. Those of you who can hear well may listen to the curious sound of an engine running in the near distance. Walk towards the source of the sound, and you’ll see two things:
1) The airport door is fixed.
2) Someone is inside the seaplane.
Should you enter the airport, you’ll find… a dodo sitting at the desk. Huh. You haven’t seen this particular bird here yet… Regardless, when he notices you all, he perks up and looks downright excited.
“Hey, hey, hey! Welcome to your one and only gateway to the skies, the Isla Sonrisa Airport! Wow, there are a lot of you! I’m Orville, and I’ll be taking care of your flight arrangements. Hey, Wilbur, get out here and meet these fellas!”
And another dodo comes out from the back of the airport--or, rather, where you’d expect the plane is docked. He seems a little more serious than the other dodo, but he gives a wave all the same, looking at you through his shades.
“You all are the ones we’re taking to the mystery island, right? Nice to meet you. I’m Wilbur. We’ll give you more details tomorrow. We’re still setting up here.”
Wilbur and Orville, the dodos in charge of the airport… try not to think about it too hard. Anyway, the dodos are here to help you out… by taking you to a “mystery island,” it seems.
Before you head out to board the plane, Orville gathers you all into the lobby of the airport. He has an explanation!
"Now, you've gotta be wondering why we've called you all here. There's something special about this island you'll be spending the day at! There's someone who's looking for a change of pace, an island paradise home, and it's up to you to ask them if they'd like to stay! You guys helped prepare that housing plot, right? Can't leave it unoccupied for much longer after all that hard work! Board the plane and soar into the sky right to your potential new neighbor! ... Tomorrow!"
...Well, now that you know what you have to do, how will you prepare?

Sunday
On Sunday, before you take off on your mystery island tour, Tom Nook asks everyone to meet at Resident Services again. This time, though, it’s Blathers who has something for you. Remember those containers with the tools during your first week here? Those are back out, but this time, you’ve got two new things: Ladders and vaulting poles. You’ll also notice that your DIY Apps now have DIYs for both of these things! How convenient.
Now that you’re properly equipped to go on your mystery island tour, Wilbur and Orville will escort you onto the seaplane. They need to make two trips, as the max capacity of the plane cannot fit everyone inside; but should you choose to go to the island, you’ll find something very, very interesting. Wilbur is your pilot, and will also be around to assist you while you explore this mysterious island.
The island is populated with bamboo trees! Well, would you look at that! Here’s something you haven’t seen yet. The trees are tall and the leaves are gently swaying in the wind. Should you chop at these bamboo trees, you’ll get bamboo pieces or young spring bamboo. There are even bamboo shoots to be dug up—either for a snack or to plant back home.

There are two tiers to the island—a ground level and a little cliff that you can climb up onto. The island also has rocks for you to mine, trees for you to shake, and bugs and fish for you to catch if you need them. And, pleasantly surprising, there are coconut trees to harvest fruit from: eight of them, four on either shore, with two coconuts per tree. There are also plenty of shells to collect on the shore. What’s missing is that there are no balloons, DIY bottles, or fossils to be found here. All of this can be seen from the aerial view of the island.
There is one other thing that stands out, though: On the left hand side of the island near the beach is a campfire...along with some movement. You can’t quite discern who this may be, but it seems like you aren’t alone on the island after all.
Landing will allow you to do whatever you desire with this island. You aren’t coming back here, after all. Just be mindful of the other visitor who’s here. They may be up for a chat — but there’s only one way to find out.

(OOC: Welcome to your second event log! Any questions can be directed to the FAQ. Since we have two separate prompts for you, we'll be separating this log by days.
NOTE: You do not have to recruit the mystery villager! This is completely optional and we will leave it up to you guys. We're flexible and can mold the game around your decisions!
NOTE-NOTE: You are also free to not board the plane for the island tour if you wish! You're free to hang out at your home island and do work there, too.
Let us know if you have any questions, as always!)

[ No questions asked, because all she needs is the promise of playing music. ]
no subject
Gay Baby Jail.
South of the river.
Follow the sound of music.
no subject
[ Honestly, she focused in on "musically inclined" so hard she didn't even notice it until just now. ]
Anyway I'll be there soon!
no subject
See you soon.
[ The sign is already there, so who is he to change it? Everybody will just have to live with this landmark.
He'll be there, anyways, sitting on the piano and trying to play the ocarina with one hand while he texts with the other, leaving a sort of jilted tune for Kaede to follow. It's Aria of the Soul, the same song she's heard him play before. ]
no subject
Oh, you have another instrument!
no subject
Yep. We have six instruments for this band already. It's really coming along.
no subject
Wow! I bet we could come up with all kinds of arrangements. Have you gotten a lot of interest?
no subject
[ Before she even confirmed, but he had enough confidence she would want to ]
I only have sheet music for the one song I was transcribing, though... Can you compose for different instruments?
[ frying pan??? ]
no subject
[ After all, she'll say yes to basically anything involving a piano. ]
I could try... I've only ever composed for the piano, and I haven't done it that many times either.
no subject
I've never composed before either... Nothing original, anyways. But let's try together. It'd be nice if we could all play something together.
no subject
I think it would be too! Playing something we wrote ourselves would be that much more special too.
[ Creating music to perform together would be a great feeling, and she's already excited to start. ]
What kind of song should we write?
no subject
[ Maybe Kaede should take creative direction for their collab or Minato's going to try and find some way to integrate his favorite Engrish rap into it ]
no subject
[ She's a little taken aback by that. ]
...I don't think I've ever listened to a punk rock song.
[ Maybe she heard one on the radio at some point, but most of the songs she remembers are all classical piano pieces. ]
no subject
Regular rock? Rap?
[ Does piano rap exist? It should. ]
no subject
[ She's realizing now just how laser-focused she is on piano. ]
I could try helping you write one of those, but you'll give me some examples, right?
no subject
[ And he dives right into Burn My Dread Last Battle Reincarnation, the part that goes
"Whatever you do, it's always gonna come back
So living by the gun's gonna get the gun clap
I ain't giving in,
Hell no, fuck that
If you got a problem,
Then stand up and say 'what?'"
while gesturing to Kaede to jump in with the piano whenever she's ready. ]
no subject
When they finish, she shoots Minato a thumbs up. ]
That was fun!
no subject
[ Minato grins and shoots her a thumbs up right back. ]
That went better than expected. Our band genre's gotta be piano rap now.
no subject
[ She was a little nervous about composing, but maybe it'll be more fun than stressful. ]
We'll come up with our own way of writing songs.
no subject
[ If anything, Sylvando seems like he has the flair for this sort of stuff, Serval the enthusiasm, Kaede the skill... He's pretty sure they won't completely suck, and that's good enough for him. ]
no subject
Exactly! I bet we'll get the hang of it pretty quickly too. I could probably teach anyone who doesn't know how to read music. We could write simple songs just while we're getting started out.
no subject
[ They'll be a proper band yet! instead of just feeling out the notes. ]
I'm real lucky to have you here.
no subject
Those thoughts about teaching music get interrupted, though, and she looks at him in surprise. ]
Eh? Really?
[ Her cheeks turn a little pink and she shakes her head. ]
I think I'm the lucky one here. You're the one who came up with a fun idea like forming a band in the first place.
no subject
Really. Thoughts are pretty useless if there's nobody to carry them out. Besides... this is all for a sorta selfish reason on my part.
There's this song I want to hear, that I think will make me less lonely. All this is the next best thing.
no subject
[ At least, that's how she sees it!
She looks at him curiously. ]
What kind of song is it?
