Week 2
Weather: Cloudy Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday AM and rainy PM; clear skies Thursday and Friday AM, slightly cloudy PM
- Arrival
A full week has come and gone, and you may be left with more questions than answers. There’s no word on the progress of figuring out how to get all of you home just yet -- you only have the land, an abandoned sea plane, your new homes and a garden to get you through this upcoming week.
...So far, that is.
Come Monday at nine AM though, Tom Nook does his morning announcements once more. Seems like he has something new for you to work with:
“Good morning, Isle Sonrisa! Great news -- we now have a grocery store up and running for everyone! The grocery store is located right about House #5, and it has a wide selection of foods and ingredients for you to choose from. While we’re still mailing kitchen equipment over to all of you, food shouldn’t be a problem any longer. The grocery store will be run by my apprentices…Timmy and Tommy!
We also have tulips in stock, now! Red, white, and yellow are our only colors, but I've heard that sometimes watering them next to one another may give you new colors. Perhaps you can try that out yourselves, yes?”
He’s very happy about this announcement. He knows how much you all wanted your food, after all! Time to continue with the announcements, though:
“The only other thing I have for you this morning is very, very important. I know there are many of you here on the island already, but assuming that most of you will be going back home, we need to get more permanent residents on the island. Yes, yes. Permanent residents from this world who may be interested in experiencing life on an island!
What I’m asking all of you to do is to prepare housing plots for our new residents. I’ve already designated areas on the island for them, and as such, your Nook Phones now have a map app so you can see where the new land plots will be. Yes, yes. Now, to prepare the first housing plot… I need the following:
1 Log Dining Table
1 Log Extra-long Sofa
1 Log Decorative Shelves
1 Log Wall-mounted Clock
If none of you have a DIY for any item in particular, I’ll go ahead and send the DIY recipe for it to your phones. It will show up in all of your DIY apps.”
He smiles at everyone with his trademark tanuki grin.
“And that’s about all I have for you today! Good luck, everyone!”
Possible Objectives
1. Help Tom Nook prepare a housing plot for a potential new resident!
2. Stock up on food and cook for yourselves and your fellow residents.
3. More to come this week...
NOTE: The map app will have a picture map that correlates to the one on the Locations page. There will be a list of resident names when you click on the tents. The map on the locations page will be updated OOCly later on Monday night.
(OOC: Welcome to Week 2! A reminder that Mod Coco who plays Tom Nook has work and will not be able to NPC throughout the week. Please direct all questions to the FAQ under the Week 2 top level.
Here's this week's Weekly Plotting Post for you all to use!
As always, if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to let us know! Have fun!)

no subject
[ Hence, he made log beds for Iori, Noctis, and himself and all the furniture out here. ]
I think there's a lot you can enjoy while you're here. It's not every day you get to be on an island.
no subject
Yeah...guess so. [He brings up a spoonful to sniff at it, still looking skeptical at the veggies in the soup.]
I'd still rather be back home though. There was so much I needed to do and this place is just getting in the way...
[He takes a tiny sip.] ...And it makes no sense either.
no subject
[ Fruits and crops growing back after 3 days? Iron and gold being spat out from the same rock? Magical hammerspace pockets? Invisible barriers around the island? Weird shit. ]
You have many things to do back home, and you won't stay here forever. Try to relax and treat it as your vacation before you go back, because it sounds like you'll need it.
[ Lots of tasks and all. ]
no subject
He takes another tiny sip of the soup, ears relaxing as he does. It's not... great, but he doesn't think he hates it.]
Sure hope you're right about that. [As selfish as he feels, he knows he can't be the only one.]
So long as I get to go back without these. [Tugging on an ear.] The guys would never let me live it down if I come back part-cat.
no subject
[ He's joking, but he can't help but to tease him a little. ]
no subject
[Maybe later he'll realize it's just a tease. But until then, Noctis just goes pink at the thought and pouts slightly.]
They'd make fun of me for the rest of my life...
[Whoever heard of a part-cat king anyways.]
no subject
[ The part-cat king whose tail sways with his emotion, smacking the rude subjects-- though if Laurent knew Noctis was a king, he would have asked about the respect he garners as one. Alas. ]
So part animal people aren't that common where you come from?
no subject
[Sadly, he hasn't had much of a chance to actual rule over anyone. Nor is he sure he'd want to in the end. There's a whole lot of insecurity there.
He frowns and shakes his head.] There's some monsters and daemons out there that can turn humans into frogs, but no animal people.
no subject
[ Though that sounds peculiar... ]
Is there a cure for such a thing?
no subject
Who knows. If anything, it's some deity's poor attempt at a joke.
[Taking another tiny bit of the soup. This time it's a modest mouthful.]
Yeah, there is. It doesn't last long either, but it sucks being turned into one. There's not much you can do other than croak and hop around.
no subject
[ A frog... it sounds kinda gross, but those poor frogs. ]
no subject
You got me there. These are annoying, but yeah. Least I'm not a tiny frog.
[But these new features still wouldn't work in Noct's 'profession'. He shrugs.]
Getting frogged is pretty painless. Do you have any people with animal parts where you're from?
no subject
[ He glances up at the sky and then back at Noctis. ]
So maybe it's easier to say that it's boring: humans without powers, no monsters, no magic...
[ ...
Yeah. ]
no subject
[Giving him something of a cocky smirk, but even that doesn't last long.]
I dunno though. Sounds kind of... nice. I mean, you don't have to worry about things like monsters then, right?
no subject
[ He says that with a small smile on his face. ]
There must be evil somewhere in the world, no matter what kind of setting, right?
no subject
Guess so. There's always some kind of problem or some conflict going on. Your world's no different, huh?
no subject
[ Like how there's no value for life if there is no death. ]
Though, personally... I'd like to live with fewer conflicts.
